Just a 1.5 mile trail. 3 miles in all. The scenery is amazing. Beautiful views of the historic Suwannee River all along the trail. Hike ends at the majestic Big Shoals. Your experience will depend on the water level of the river, but ours was pretty impressive. Park is pristine. Trails are well maintained and easily accessible. We went in the middle of the week and were the only people there. It's really hot in the summer,so make sure you have water available. Don't miss the bat house at the very beginning of the trail. If the bats hear your voice they will start moving around and making noise. Great old Florida experience.

March and April have always been our favorite months for a quick overnight stay and when the Museum was open we have stayed longer. Dog poop bag stations are well stocked unlike other State Parks, but I am still concerned about their budget. Almost sure it is the best State Park of Hamilton County Time to make reservations, there are months that bookings are almost impossible since kayaking and canoeing are popular sports on the River

Stocked fire pit was waiting for us at our site and the grounds were impeccably maintained. The host was very nice and accommodating despite our late arrival! It was well attended by at 30+ campers, residents, and visitors. The food and fellowship were great. Everyone seemed to have a good time and no one went home hungry! The park atmosphere is laid-back and most residents are friendly and outgoing, always willing to help when needed and offer RV advice if something breaks. Nearby Lake City and Live Oak have about all of the restaurants and stores you will ever need. The park is endeavoring to add more weekly events such as games and Bingo nights, as well as an occasional Saturday evening LIVE GOSPEL MUSIC and sing-alongs. This is a great place to live whether snowbirds, visitors, or full-time residents. We'll be coming back here as long as we are able... Frank & Char Go Blue!

It's about five miles from exit 22 on I75. I called before making my way off of the exit. I hate calling campgrounds! Why do they all give you an interview? What does it matter what year the RV is? Other than that, it was a pretty stellar RV park. They don't allow tent camping and I didn't see any pop ups. We checked in around noon on a Friday and even though there were only a couple of sites available, it was extremely quiet. They were having a pizza party at the community center and on our last walk, we passed a group gathered around the communal fire pit. The bathrooms are near the community center, which is in the back of the campground and at the entrance. There is nothing except one small lounge/bar right outside of the grounds and a Dollar General about two miles before you get to the RV park. So, you better come prepared. There is a walking trail that's off the beaten path. We were happy to escape the Kentucky snow, so the balmy 73 degrees for was much welcomed and we took advantage for a couple of walks. There were also a few cabins that I think were priced pretty reasonably. I wouldn't necessarily call them cabins though. They were more like modular homes with dark brown siding. Still, probably better than staying the night at a Red Roof Inn.

Luckily, Casey Jones RV Park was just down the street. I called late Monday afternoon, spoke to Rose, who was so friendly and accommodating. Explained the RV repair situation and that we didn't know if our stay was going to be 1,2 or 3 nights. She said.."no problem". I asked for 2 nights, not knowing what the future held. They were very flexible & accommodating. Day 3.... AM..... . yeaaaa, RV was fixed. I gave my many "thank you's" and said goodbye. We were checking out !! Well, we got about 4 miles down the road.... engine alerts came back on and we turned the Coach around and headed back to repair shop. I called back to Casey Jones RV and asked for a 3rd night. Again, they said "no problem... and said that they even saved my same spot for us". . Almost like they knew we'd be back !! Now on Day 4.... RV fixed and we got on our way to continue our trip. Besides being very close to the Truck Service Center....... This park is nice, quiet and easy in & out for our 43 ft Coach. Reasonable overnight prices as well. YES..... I would stay here again & recommend to others.

There were already a good amount of people and the parking lot was almost full, but there was still plenty of space for people in the springs. There isn't a lot of space to put your belongings as there aren't really any large open spaces, but people pretty much just put their stuff where they can. You can either enter the springs via some stairs that take you right to the deep portion, or you can walk around the springs and enter at a shallower section. If you do go in at the shallower section, be aware that there's quite a strong current that can be difficult to fight against to get into the deep area. I would also recommend chacos or sandals of some kind as there are a lot of rocks in the shallower end that can be very slippery. The water is VERY cold, so be prepared for that, but know that it will also feel amazing afterward and soak any body aches/pains away. The springs are one of the most beautiful swimming areas I've seen--so much beautiful nature surrounding it. If I could go there WITHOUT the loud crowds of people, it would be the most absolutely perfect spot to relax and spend a day. Even with that it was fantastic and I would 100% return.

A good place to spend a few hours.

Check in/out was super easy, firewood that you purchase is delivered right to your cabin. Theres a shop with lots of things if you forgot anything & really pretty reasonably priced. Plus there's dvds you can just check in or out for free. Theres an adorable patio off the main building where we had a blast playing battleship and shuffleboard. We also ordered food. I'm from Pennsylvania and a good cheesesteak is far and few between it seems down south.. this place has the best cheesesteak I've had in years. It was hot, greasy & packed with flavor. Food was 10/10. Also; the bathrooms were surprisingly clean & it was a rainy day/night. Hiking trails are a 5 minute drive. Theres a dog park at the campground, that was awesome. The only semi negative thing I could say is the cabins are pretty close to each other so there's not a ton of privacy. If you're looking for an intimate camping experience, that also feels really safe, this is the perfect place. We will definitely back and I do HIGHLY recommend!
