This super tiny, super quiet sleepy little island town springs to life bright & early each & every day as marina users from all over arrive into town ready to head out to the famous Cedar Key Grouper waters for some stellar fishing Pirate style! Arrrr! It gets very busy here, lots of fishermen, big trucks & boats & trailers & lots of bloody golf carts everywhere so parking can get tight! Watch out! Arrrrr! Get here EARLY to troll the backwaters for Red fish & Trout or head to the clam leases where farmers produce tons of the nation's farm raised clams. The clams are amazing but the fishing is better. Captain Hubbers & I wanted to get in on the action in Cedar Key & boy did we ever. Good times. Arrrr!! Long story short, back to the scene of the crime, this is where hubby jack-knifed moi Range Rover into the boat trailer. Yikes. Bloody old salt caught the big one for sure haha. Unfortunately the boat they gave us was TERRIBLE and I'd be embarrassed if this were my company. The boat was dented up outside (not a big deal) the seats were ripped and foam coming out, the floor and seats had mold growing all over it. I would never rent this boat to anyone advertising my company on it, truly an embarrassment. We've used Cedar Key Island Tours many times in the past and will definitely return to them and steer clear of Cedar Key Marina II.

Fire pits at every site, firewood for sale, full hookups for RVs and dry camping for tent and boondockers. Adorable tiki bar on site for casual light snacks and drinks. Dock and bank fishing on site. Nearby shops and amenities within easy driving distance. Cabins and even a SAILBOAT for rent on AirBNB! 20 minutes from Crystal River and it's attractions and restaurants. 5 minute drive to the Gulf. Kayak Rentals! Local parks and walks! I adore this place and will definitely be back. CONS: Okay, guys, this not the campground's fault, but you need to be warned. The Noseeums/sand flies/flying midges in Yankeetown/Ingles are legendary. If you are tent or otherwise dry camping with limited indoor space, you need to bring screen netting and a fan. Bug spray does not work. Candles do not work. Calgon Morning Glory Body Mist does not work. Nothing works except very fine bug netting and fans. Pack long sleeves, a battery powered fan, fine bug netting. Tenters and boondockers, bring an enclosed gazeebo to enjoy the evening breeze but escape the bug plauge. I got devoured by noseums and still had a fantastic time. One million stars!

I cannot recommend this marina enough. Cleave and his team helped me in every aspect both…read moremechanically and with patience. My hub on a boat trailer came off 17 miles from the marina. Shawn helped me locate a trailer company who promptly arrived and I was able to limp the trailer to the marina. Then Cleave helped me locate a lower unit for my 99 Evinrude 115. Furthermore, his mechanic team was fast and efficient. Lastly, I had to ditch the boat trailer. Cleave was very helpful in saving me a 7hr round trip plus gas. He was able to remove the trailer for me. The boat slip had a big drop off, so that is the only negative from this place. Thanks again for everything, Cleave and Shield Marina Team. Great STAFF! Everyone we interact with, from the store to the marina and docks to the service…read moredepartment is professional and pleasant. We have our boat dry docked and love the arrangement. Restrooms are spotless and well stocked. The ships store has plenty of what you need and a lot of what you want. Anytime we want to travel overland with our boat, they have gotten our boat and trailer ready for us. I love that many Shields live right at the Marina. The area always feels safe and secure. As long as we have a boat, we will keep it at Shields!
