My husband and I had such a fantastic experience dealing with Sutherlin Subaru, that I wanted to share our review. It was finally time to replace our 2011 Subaru Sport Impreza. After looking around, we saw a few models at Sutherlin that we wanted to test drive and called to make an appointment. We both absolutely hate car shopping and put it off for as long as possible. The day finally came, and we made it to Sutherlin and were greeted at the door by Rob Huppman. He asked all the important questions and took us around to the models we wanted to see. He gave us all the great information and details about each model. We test drove two different models and decided that we liked the Impreza Sport over the Crosstrek. What I loved about Rob is that there was almost zero pressure, even after we all came back inside and started "negotiating." We were able to get the price we wanted for the car and for our trade-in. We dealt with Andy to finalize all the paperwork and finances. All in all, it took around 3 hours from start to finish. We came back the next day with our payment and to pick up our new Subie. We were in and out under 30 minutes. We cannot recommend Sutherlin enough. Everyone we dealt with here was awesome and most importantly, they were 100 percent transparent with us, which is rare these days in the car industry. read more

Sean, service writer was called by Allstate in regards to my crosstrek hit in the rear, fixed by the collision center however fuel issue, as in the gage never showed full after filling up at a gas station, it was taken to Grayson Subaru(NEVER GO THERE FOR SERVICE) so finally after 4 MONTHS back and forth to Grayson Subaru, Allstate allowed me to take my car to Sutherlin, within 2 days my car was complete! Was met by Kevon (salesman) who was very personable and not pushy at all. Kevon was very knowledgeable about the vehicle and then we started the process to that everyone hates.....the deal. It was actually very painless and we were able to easily agree without the normal "let me talk to the manager". We upgraded to the leather seats which were also great. We came to Sutherlin Subaru looking for a car that could handle our infrequent, but immobilizing, snow and winter weather. We quickly determined an Outback was the best fit and we were paired with Kevon. Engaging, attentive, and patient are how we would describe Kevon. We looked at multiple trim levels of the Outback over 3 different visits to the dealership. Kevon took time to learn our objectives and when he didn't know an answer, we found out the answer. We ended up with an Outback Wilderness edition and were very happy with the overall experience. From treating us like valued customers, to offering us refreshments, to working with us on our trade (and discount off MSRP), the experience was good with only a bit of car buying haggling over the price. When we went back to financing, we were paired with Rey, who talked us through options like gap insurance, extended warranties, and prepayment of service (all of which we declined). When we did so, we were not pressed to consider them again as we've experienced at other dealerships over the years. We highly recommend considering this Subaru dealership over other regional ones as they had inventory, personality, and deals. read more

Purchased an F250 that was "certified pre-owned with 200+ point inspection" and "new brake pads and rotors" on November 29th. I purchased an extended warranty for $5300 as well. I was told this warranty covered "all electronics for 5 years" and also a lifetime powertrain warranty that also "covers the diesel emissions system unless it's tampered with". Those are the 2 specific questions I asked, otherwise I would have not purchased the warranty. It was very cold outside. It decided to warm up on December 18th so I attempted to open the panoramic sunroof only to find out it was broken. I pressed the close button but the following morning woke up to water on my leather seat and leather center console. I texted my salesman, Liam, and sent him a picture and video of the issue. I was told at 9:30am that the finance manager, Lexi, would call me back in a few minutes. After minimal texts and communication I recieved a call from Lexi at 8:00PM that evening (11 hours later). Lexi informed me thY my warranty covered all electronics except for the sunroof. She then suggested that she could cancel my loan and re-write the warranty to include the sunroof, but that I would have to wait a few weeks to file a claim. I logically refused because that's ridiculous. The next day, after going back and forth with Lexi, I was finally emailed the actual literature regarding the extended warranty. I came to find out nothing concerning the exhaust system was covered either. After realizing I had been mislead and lied to, I cancelled the warranty to get my $5300 back. Lexi told me they would take care of my sunroof repair and make it right. That day, Liam texted me and asked me what day and time I could bring the truck to the dealership so they could look at my sunroof. We settled on December 26th and 9:30am. Upon arrival, I was working with Sean, who told me Liam had never made me an appointment. He rescheduled my appointment for Wednesday, December 31st at 9:00AM. After looking at my truck that day, they determined this needs to be fixed by Ford. Sean offered to keep my truck and give me a loaner vehicle, which I refused because I need my truck to tow my work trailer. Sean told me he would call me back that day and tell me what date and time I could drop it off at a Ford dealership. I heard nothing back all day. The following day I called and Sean told me he was waiting on a call back from Ford. On Friday, he had the same story. I left it alone the next Saturday-Tuesday with no contact or update from the dealership. Finally on Wednesday I got a hold of Sean, who told me again he hasn't been able to get in contact with Ted Russel Ford. I called Ted Russel Ford and spoke with Erica in service who advised me that nobody from Sutherlin Subaru had called them. It took me about 30 seconds to get someone on the phone at Ted Russel Ford. I texted my salesman, Liam, and said I needed an update. He replied with a text saying "Ford said it could be between $1,000-4,000 to fix the sunroof so we are calling other dealers to see if that is accurate". After that text, I was completely ignored by both Sean and Liam. I was later contacted on Thursday, January 8th, by a finance manager named Andy. I told him what was going and and he said "In my records it says you cancelled the warranty". That's because I was lied to and mislead and told my issue wasn't covered. He informed he would "see what he could do" for me. After not upholding his promise to call me back that evening or early the next morning, I called the dealership 5 times between 1pm and 3:30pm. They ignored every call. I finally used a *67 number and got through to a guy named Tyler in service. He told me Sean was off on Fridays. (Interesting because the first time I brought the truck in was a Friday and I worked with Sean). After waiting on hold he finally tracked Andy down for me, meanwhile I had left Andy a voicemail hours ago. Andy informed me their legal team said they won't resolve this issue and I'm on the hook. I've been mislead and lied to. AVOID THIS DEALER LIKE THE PLAGUE read more

We came to Sutherlin with an appointment set to meet one guy, who happen to be with people upon our arrival so we were hooked up with a different sales person-Nick Wicker. What a blessing that turned out to be. He was wonderful! Smart & pleasant but above all just a pleasure to be around! We had an absolutely wonderful experience. Another great experience at Sutherlin Subaru. 1st let me state that Subaru of America is not who I am reviewing. That would be a totally opposite review. Having to buy tires is an incredibly expensive and daunting task. Are they going to be quiet, long lasting, handle the weather and much more? All my questions were ànswered frankly by the person who ordered them for me and I feel like he kept cost and performance well balanced to get me good tires at a decent price. I had asked for 2 TPMS sensors be replaced and brake pads be replaced on the rear. It might have taken a while but I was kept informed and they even asked if I was sure about replacing 2 sensors as only one was malfunctioning. Saved me over 100 dollars. Rita came out to chat a moment close to the end and we spoke about a trail I had spotted before arriving for service. She told me there was a lake and the trail was used by bikers and hikers. She was right and I am so glad she encouraged me to check it out. East quarry trail is awesome. I found a used Crosstrek on their website, I sat up and appointment to test drive with Kevon I received confirmation from him that the car would be available & ready to drive. Dan/Daniel their manger called that morning to confirm that I was still coming & that the car would be ready, I make the almost 2 hour drive it was for me to get to the dealership to look at the car. I get there & the receptionist is confused why I am there & had to find someone to help. This is where I meet Ceasar, by this time the red flags are apparent I was not met with kindness & understanding. I am told that the car i came to look at isn't for sale it is going to salvage I can't drive & was told it wasn't even on their website even though I can still pull it up to this day as well as a $300 price reduction. It was apparent that the fact I wasn't there to look at a new car that they didn't have much use for me & I was treated as such. As I am leaving I meet Andy, who behaved like a complete asshole & couldn't control his emotions when he didn't like the answer I gave. Needless to say I left, I left in tears from the complete & utter shitty experience all around. This is a male dominanted dealership & not a safe & welcoming place for women. If I could put 0 stars I would. About 6 weeks ago, I took my Subaru Outback in to get serviced before my month long cross-country road trip. I drove an hour to get it serviced by Subaru so I could feel confident driving 8,000 miles by having subaru professionals tell me that my car is all good. I had asked to have everything checked over (including my spare tire kit) and had reported there was a very minor leak in my rear windshield. I explained I was going on this huge trip and wanted to feel confident that my car was up to shape for it. They charged us over $300. Just for basically an oil change and just to TELL me that they wanted to charge me an extra $400 to replace my rear hatch brake light. I took that rear windshield leak problem to my local auto shop and they fixed it for less than $100. BUT, what was more mortifying was the shape of the trunk of my car when I got home. My items in the trunk was lazily and messily thrown towards the front. They obviously showed no respect for my personal property. They broke the bottom piece and left it just like that. They did NOT even put my tire kit back in properly, then continued to close the lid and put the plastic mat back on top as if nothing had happened. No Subaru employee EVER mentioned anything about any problems with the trunk. I only discovered this after I drove an hour back home from the dealership. I was horrified and distraught because I was leaving that week for my trip. Finding my car in this shape instilled zero confidence in the quality of their service or in their report of my car being in good shape to drive 8,000 miles! I called them and reported this. After going back and forth, they finally agreed for a total refund of their services. It's been 6 weeks and still have not received that refund. They are unapologetic of this prolonged refund process. I will never be able to have confidence and trust in Subaru Sutherlin again. read more

From the minute we drove on the lot to have our car serviced, we were met with smiles and people ready to help. We were there to have our 2020 Subaru Ascent serviced. We decided to walk around and look while waiting. Bob offered assistance with a smile. He was so easy to talk to and connect with. However when on the lot looking around, Grant Proffet offered to let us test drive any car on the lot including the 2024 Ascent and Outback. He answered all our questions and was extremely helpful. Grant listened to what we said and understood what we did and did not want. That was huge for us. He then showed us the 2024 Ascent with the touring package, that met those needs. Jack quickly accommodated our needs and even when we called back to see if we could get in early, he said to come on in! We finished up on an errand early in Oak Ridge, and Viola, we got in to get our ECU...? Fixed. Jack was totally awesome! His enthusiasm was as though he... owned the dealership, not just a service advisor employed there. Because of his attitude, we were seen and sent home 2 hours early. I had been searching for an F-250 online for quite a while. I found one online at this Subaru dealership in Kingston, Tennessee, which happened to be 4 hours away from me as I live in Georgia. I had been in communication with an associate to explain my situation that I was very interested in the truck and to keep me updated on it's status so that I could make plans for the long drive. I found a day that would work for me and the associate emailed me late on Monday afternoon to confirm that I would be coming out the following morning to take a look at the truck and appointment was confirmed. I left my house at 5am the following day to ensure I was there when they opened. I arrived at 9am, went for a test drive in the truck and absolutely loved it. I sat down with the salesperson, talked a few numbers and gave him the keys to my truck so that they could value my appraisal. 15 minutes or so later after they had driven my trade-in, the sales manager walks into the office I'm sitting in and proceeds to tell me that the truck I drove 4 hours to see is no longer available. It has been sold. My reaction was of course WOW, just WOW. Oh but hey, he offered to buy me a tank of gas!! He didn't really give me an explanation, didn't offer to help me find a similar vehicle or really help me in any way whatsoever. I completely wasted 10 hours of my day dealing with this dealership. I would leave a review of zero if that were possible, but my salesperson was a nice guy and seemed to be blindsided by this also. So in conclusion I would certainly not recommend doing business with this dealership, this should never happen to anyone! read more

In 10/2021 I purchased a new 2022 Outback for $33K. In January of 2022 I inquired about trading in my recently purchased 2022 Outback with less than 1K miles for a new Wilderness Outback. Rocky replied with an offer of $28K. What a joke, considering today's market. I was offered $34K by Carvana and $33k by another Subaru Dealer. I made the transaction with the other Subaru Dealer and am waiting for my new Wilderness. Earl Duff not only insulted me but lost any goodwill and service business they would have received from me in the future. How short-sighted and greedy. They smile at you one minute and was to rip me off the next minute. They thought I was a fool. They do not care about customer loyalty. I cannot say enough to express appreciation for them CARING ENOUGH TO TAKE TIME to figure out a problem Subaru has not seen before. We took it to the location closer to our home in knoxville several times and described an intermittent engine problem. They put it on the "machine" and said nothing showed up. Even though the engine had a clear but intermittent problem we were told "it just does that." But EARL DUFF to the rescue. We explained our plight and they gave us a loaner and kept the car and drove it enough to experience the problem, then put it on the machine when it was acting up and got data to send to corporate. They spent TWO WEEKS with our problem child to get the job done and kept us up to date every couple of days. I"m sending you pizza guys. I bought a brand new Outback from this dealership a and I live in a different county in Tennessee. Upon signing paperwork, I was told that when my new plate arrived I could go to my county's clerk's office to get sticker for the bottom of the license plate that represents the county that I live. There was no mention of me having to pay any more money. I paid the fees that were asked of me at the dealership for tax, tags, and title. Well, when I went to my clerk's office I was told that I had to pay $74 for my sticker because it was not paid according to the state's records. I called the dealership to have them rectify the situation and I was told that they were sorry and couldn't do anything about it. They said that my finance guy was new and didn't know any better. So, instead of opting to either refund the money I paid for Roane county or just eat the $74 for my license plate in Montgomery county, since they made the mistake, they opted to blame the new guy and say sorry. They should know exactly how much tax is to be collected no matter what county you live, hell, even no matter what state you live for that matter. Bad business practices here. They will treat you like you're their best friend while you're there but will show their true colors if there is any problem after the sale. I'm honestly shocked they would choose this path. I expected more from a reputable Subaru dealership. I will talk trash about this place until the day I die, yes over $74, it's the principle of the matter. By the way, I'm a lifetime Subaru owner. Check my other reviews and you'll see I raved about a different Subaru dealership several months back. I will only write a bad review when I've been wronged, no matter how small. I hope this changes your mind about doing business with this place because if they're willing to take this stance over $74, imagine what they'll do when there's more money at stake. My wife and I recently purchased a Subaru Forester from Todd Fink with Earl Duff. I was able to submit my trade-in information and get a trade-in value online. Todd then emailed me an out-the-door price for the car we were interested in purchasing. He said the price was contingent on inspected our trade, which was understandable. My wife and I arrived around 9:30 the following morning, and took the Forester for a quick test drive. Upon inspecting our trade, Todd informed us that the tires looked good, so he increased the trade-in value by $500.00. That was most appreciated, and I immediately knew I was dealing with an honest company. After signing paperwork and going over the car, we drove way in our new Subaru. I purchased a used car from Earl Duff Subaru 2 weeks ago. Our salesman (Todd Fink) was very nice, and with exception to a vibration issue and a gasoline issue, the transaction went fine. Because I needed to get back to Atlanta and the transaction was taking a while, I took the vehicle to the gas station next door to fill the empty tank while waiting on the paperwork. Upon returning, Todd told me he would've filled the tank. I told Todd I had a receipt from the station next door and he could just reduce the purchase price. Todd told me he couldn't reduce the purchase price because "it comes out of a different pot of money." When I asked him about cash, he told me "it was too late." Not sure what difference 5 minutes makes, but whatever. If you buy a car from Earl Duff, make sure the tank is full because they won't reimburse you even if you use the gas station right next door and have a time-dated receipt from 5 minutes prior. Back to the vibration issue. Todd took the car back to the service department to have the wheels re-balanced while we waited, but the vibration continued when driving home. When I returned to Atlanta, I took the car to a local tire shop to see what was causing the vibration. The tire shop told me that when the tires were last balanced (supposedly by Earl Duff while we waited) the technician did not remove the old weights, but instead just added additional weights. The tire shop told me this was an improper method for wheel balancing. They removed all of the weights and performed a proper road force balancing which cured the vibration issue at a cost of $80. Add that to the $50 for the gas and I now have $130 in additional cost for purchasing an Earl Duff vehicle. After correcting the vibration issue, I next took the car to be detailed. When picking up the vehicle, I asked why the wheels still looked dirty. It was then I learned that the wheels on vehicle had been sprayed with touch up paint. I was told that it appeared "somebody dusted the wheels with a paint can in a parking lot." I was also told the touch up paint sprayed on the wheels would all eventually flake-off. The detailer showed me how when he rubbed on the wheel the paint would come off (see picture). I called Todd, told him what I found, and sent a picture. He told me he would talk to the general manager and call me back. 6 hours later I called back (no one called) and spoke with the GM, Darryl Fink. Darryl told me "we typically don't touch up wheels on vehicles." Darryl also said he talked to his "wheel guy" and his wheel guy said he didn't do it. Why does Earl Duff need a wheel guy in the first place if they "typically don't touch up wheels?" This sounded like BS. I explained to Darryl that because the touch up paint was flaking off, the wheels would have to be stripped and refinished. I received a quote from Wheel Wizard for $960 and told Darryl to call Wheel Wizard himself. Darryl told me that they "didn't make enough money on vehicle to be able to do anything about it, and had they made more money on they deal, he would pay to correct the issue; no problem." Why should that matter at all? I was sold a vehicle from Earl Duff Subaru where the wheels were clearly sprayed with touch up paint that was coming off. I dealt with them in good faith and bought a car from them thinking they were an honest dealership. Why does the amount of money they made on the vehicle have any bearing on doing what's right? If the shoe was on the other foot, how would they feel? They made their problem my problem and don't want to look back. Darryl also said that because I live in Atlanta, I "probably wouldn't be buying another car from Earl Duff in TN" and suggested it as being another reason for inaction on the problem. Unbelievable! The gasoline, tire balancing, and wheel refinishing added an additional $1100+ of unanticipated cost to purchasing a vehicle from Earl Duff. I was supposedly buying from Earl Duff in good faith, but obviously they do not stand behind their product nor reputation. Buyer beware. Sorely disappointed! read more

I found a car I was interested in online. I submitted a request online and received a quick call back from Quinn. He sent me a quote via email and answered all my questions. He also booked an appointment for me to take the car on an extended test drive. When I got to the dealership Brandon had the car warmed up and ready for me. After the drive, Brandon helped us negotiate a deal and Zach walked us through the paperwork. Brandon cleaned the car and filled it up with gas. He then showed me every button on the car and explained its function. He answered every question I had and was super knowledgeable about the car. This team just created a raving fan! Because I needed to get back to Atlanta and the transaction was taking a while, I took the vehicle to the gas station next door to fill the empty tank while waiting on the paperwork. Upon returning, Todd told me he would've filled the tank. I told Todd I had a receipt from the station next door and he could just reduce the purchase price. Todd told me he couldn't reduce the purchase price because "it comes out of a different pot of money." When I asked him about cash, he told me "it was too late." Not sure what difference 5 minutes makes, but whatever. If you buy a car from Earl Duff, make sure the tank is full because they won't reimburse you even if you use the gas station right next door and have a time-dated receipt from 5 minutes prior. Back to the vibration issue. Todd took the car back to the service department to have the wheels re-balanced while we waited, but the vibration continued when driving home. When I returned to Atlanta, I took the car to a local tire shop to see what was causing the vibration. The tire shop told me that when the tires were last balanced (supposedly by Earl Duff while we waited) the technician did not remove the old weights, but instead just added additional weights. The tire shop told me this was an improper method for wheel balancing. They removed all of the weights and performed a proper road force balancing which cured the vibration issue at a cost of $80. Add that to the $50 for the gas and I now have $130 in additional cost for purchasing an Earl Duff vehicle. After correcting the vibration issue, I next took the car to be detailed. When picking up the vehicle, I asked why the wheels still looked dirty. It was then I learned that the wheels on vehicle had been sprayed with touch up paint. I was told that it appeared "somebody dusted the wheels with a paint can in a parking lot." I was also told the touch up paint sprayed on the wheels would all eventually flake-off. The detailer showed me how when he rubbed on the wheel the paint would come off (see picture). I called Todd, told him what I found, and sent a picture. He told me he would talk to the general manager and call me back. 6 hours later I called back (no one called) and spoke with the GM, Darryl Fink. Darryl told me "we typically don't touch up wheels on vehicles." Darryl also said he talked to his "wheel guy" and his wheel guy said he didn't do it. Why does Earl Duff need a wheel guy in the first place if they "typically don't touch up wheels?" This sounded like BS. I explained to Darryl that because the touch up paint was flaking off, the wheels would have to be stripped and refinished. I received a quote from Wheel Wizard for $960 and told Darryl to call Wheel Wizard himself. Darryl told me that they "didn't make enough money on vehicle to be able to do anything about it, and had they made more money on they deal, he would pay to correct the issue; no problem." Why should that matter at all? I was sold a vehicle from Earl Duff Subaru where the wheels were clearly sprayed with touch up paint that was coming off. I dealt with them in good faith and bought a car from them thinking they were an honest dealership. Why does the amount of money they made on the vehicle have any bearing on doing what's right? If the shoe was on the other foot, how would they feel? They made their problem my problem and don't want to look back. Darryl also said that because I live in Atlanta, I "probably wouldn't be buying another car from Earl Duff in TN" and suggested it as being another reason for inaction on the problem. Unbelievable! The gasoline, tire balancing, and wheel refinishing added an additional $1100+ of unanticipated cost to purchasing a vehicle from Earl Duff. I was supposedly buying from Earl Duff in good faith, but obviously they do not stand behind their product nor reputation. Buyer beware. Sorely disappointed! read more

I found this to be an unsophisticated & marginal dealer with an anemic inventory & a chip on their shoulder. The "faux-ksy" and "country" Hee-Haw attitude thinly masks the fact that they are like all the rest, just waiting for an opportunity to bend you over and they can get quite angry and hostile when you refuse to grab ankle. Fail. Oh, yeah, almost forgot- the sanctimonious piety was a real turnoff too, right from the get-go. Not everyone is a Holy Roller. When a salesman makes a point of speaking of his "faith" within the first two minutes, I make sure my hand is on my wallet. read more

I have been using this dealership's service department since returning to TN in 2006. They professionally serviced my 1998 Legacy until my purchase from them of my current 2011 Outback, which I continue to have serviced there. The service team is always helpful and courteous, notifying of needed repairs/replacements found on inspection for approval before doing the work. I like that a courtesy vehicle can be planned for longer service visits, which I have used a few times over the years. I have spoken to customers on different occasions while waiting who drove past other Subaru dealerships to use this one. I expect that my next car purchase will be from Earl Duff when the time comes. read more

I just went in for the 15,000 mile service on my 2013 Outback. The ladies in the service department were absolutely excellent. Not only did they get the service done efficiently and on time, but while I was waiting they offered me coffee AND shared some home made brownies brought in by another customer. While I was there I visited with my salesman who was very helpful in answering some post sale questions I had come up with. On a previous visit I spoke with Mr. Duff who was very approachable and friendly. Coming from the Washington DC area, I never expected to get the kind of attention I have found at Earl Duff Subaru.
