Two words: fried calamari. As we walked in the door of this tidy, attractive restaurant in the late…read moreafternoon, a lady heading out said to try the calamari because it's great. Was she right!! Even though the listing here on yelp says breakfast and lunch, this is also a dinner restaurant. Shane took our reservation for 6 o'clock after checking the books and seeing that they had about 20 names down already. We shared an appetizer-sized portion of the calamari, and most of us agreed that we wished we had ordered it for our entrée because it was outstanding. The waiter said the secret is that it is never frozen, and I can only say that I've never tasted calamari that tender and flavorful, so perhaps he's right. Don't get me wrong: each of our entrées was delicious, but that calamari!... Their menu list their local suppliers, which must another secret to outstanding food. We also shared two desserts among the six of us: an Irish cream cheese cake and a chocolate tart. Both came on plates adorned with two fruit gastrics and a tiny dish of delicious vanilla ice cream; the desserts themselves were excellent.

Fantastic!!! We had the pleasure of eating at the Blackberry Cafe on a recent trip. We found it…read moreon accident and we are so glad we did. Hands down the best fish and chips I have ever had! Service was great and the food was just amazing! The atmosphere is very warm and inviting. Get there early as they fill up fast for good reason. Highly recommend and when we go back to the amazing west coast of Ireland we will go back!

I'm not sure if I can say enough nice things about this place. Any review will fall short in how…read moremuch we loved this place. We stayed here for 4 nights and loved every moment. The kindest people, nicest rooms, and seriously.... The best breakfast I've ever had in my life. This b and b and restaurant will forever live in my heart.

I stayed in the hotel, and I could not stay for breakfast but one of the girls was kind enough to…read moregive us muffins. Hotel: there is narrow parking in the back. Check-in is only between 3-7pm. I arrived around 6:30 and the parking lot was packed, I assume from the dinner rush from the restaurant next to it. When I came back home after dinner, I was disappointed to find out that the radiator was not working (I also later found out that they turn it off from midnight - 6am which doesn't make sense to me since those are the coldest hours). It is cold outside, so I was thankfully that I packed a sweater to wear during sleep. The most annoying thing is that the shower water does not get hot. It only stays warm, so if you like hot washers, you'll have to adjust to the cold/warm water only. The only way to communicate with the manager is through phone call- so if you're traveling internationally it's almost impossible to communicate them since they don't reply on Airbnb chat right away. I do think the room is nice and clean, and the bathroom is a decent size. If it wasn't for the issues with heating, I would recommend this place. Muffins: The apple crumble muffin looks delicious and it does have apple inside, but it tasted like it could have been baked for 5 minutes more. The walnut muffin has what seemed like Dulce de leche - I enjoyed this one more than the apple one.

Fresh and healthy superfood salads, juices, dairy free sweet treats, daily hot specials, 3fe coffee and teas - all offered with dairy free milk options. I had the superfood salad of massaged kale, chickpeas, and spiced cous cous (with cranberries, pomegranate and pesto) for lunch. For €7.50 it filled me up for the day and is far more exciting then the dull packaged leaves and uninspiring dash of olive oil salads you get in other establishments. These salads ARE the dish, not just a bit of green on the side - they demand your attention and don't disappoint on taste! Less than a 5 minute stroll from O'Connell St, in the summer it'd be lovely to get a salad to go at lunch time and eat it along the riverside. I imagine the menu will expand as the business does, as chef-cum-proprietor Carolanne is Ballymaloe trained and well travelled! They maintain an active social media presence @sweetbeatsligo and already have a loyal following of customers - including me! Watch this space, as it expands into something brilliant, its thrilling to see young businesses like this bringing the heart back into Sligo town.
