We heard this place was the best in the area for sushi and gave it a try. I am not sure what was worse, the sushi or the service. We sat in booth for 20 minutes until we grabbed manager and asked for service. Manager and waitress were both dismissive and rude. Sushi was horrible. Apparently people from Brighton don't know good sushi. This place is dump. Try Nagoto Hibachi and Sushi instead. read more

I can't say enough about this place. Great Staff! the sushi is inventive, tasty, well presented and is the "GO TO" stop when my family gets together. My daughter loves the Edemamee and the Autumn Roll. I love the Super Spider and the Father's day rolls. It's get very busy there but once in the place you get served very quickly. You can spend a lot or a little but depends on you. try the Tuna Tower or the Avocado Bomb.... love it! read more

Went there for lunch today and it was packed, but service was prompt and the food was great. We had a couple of rolls and the chicken teriyaki appetizer. Hot tea was served at no charge. Delish! read more

Who'd have thought you could get delicious sushi in the middle of downton Brighton??? The rolls are DELICIOUS and I can't say enough about the beautiful presentation. A true testament to the place - when my husband and I were there this weekend, the entire staff would enthusiastically greet their frequent customers (and also warmly tell them goodbye). It felt very much like the "Norm!" calls on Cheers. This was not my first visit there, and this the way the staff seems to treat their customers. I love the Snow White roll (a smoky, spicy flavor) and they do a great job on their edamame. Our waiter this weekend encouraged me to try the new plum wine they are carrying (Ume Blanc) and it was fabulous! One of the posters commented that they used imitation crab. This is definitely NOT the case now. Furthermore, they now have a limited bar and feature mixed drinks along with their sake and various wines - seriously... try the Ume Blanc. If you're in the area and looking for sushi, you've GOT to stop here. I'm looking forward to my next visit! read more

Sushi Zen deserves a gold medal in all categories! The sushi is the freshest I've ever had and the staff is very knowledgable about the different rolls. The chefs arrange the sushi on your plate in the most artistic and beautiful way and also includes edible sugar decorations. Second only to La Marsa for a dining experience in Brighton. The atmosphere is very posh, so this is a great place to go on a date night. The menu has a great variety of dishes that cater to all budgets. Sometimes I like to come here and just get a little bit of sushi and some Edamame, and I can spend less than $10. On the other hand, you can go to town- get an entree or a sushi sampler, try their cocktails and definitely try the green tea ice cream!! read more

My husband and I went in were greet quick and seated at a table. After waiting 15 minutes we were never approached by a waitstaff person, granted it was a super busy Saturday night but, at least 2 managers passed our table and 3 servers helped the tables one both sides of us and across us. This used to be my favorite sushi restaurant but tonight me and my boyfriend went and we were extremely disappointed with the quality of the fish. The fish seemed frozen. We spent $100 for bland rolls that just looked pretty. We did have a wonderful waitress and I do enjoy the atmosphere, however I will not return. Sushi Zen is my favorite sushi restaurant in Michigan! Unfortunately, they do not accept reservations, but this is worth the wait. Service is hit or miss (hence 4 stars, instead of 5) and the food is always fresh and wonderful. The food is a bit on the pricey side, but coupons are available. You get what you pay for! My recommendations: The avocado bomb appetizer is to die for. My favorite rolls include Crazy Girl, Boss, and St. Patty's Day. Try the Melon Ball cocktail if you are in the mood for something refreshing, alcoholic, and yummy. read more

Had a portion of a gift cardleftover to Sushi Zen and decided to order a couple of rolls and watch the NBA draft last night. Online ordering for pickup is quick and easy - ordered a Crazy Girl roll and a Spicy Tuna roll. Put in my info - most was pulled through from my last order, however this time, instead of asking when I wanted to pickup the order like the last time, it scheduled pickup for 1 1/2 hours later! I called the restaurant and asked why so long for pickup on such a small order on a Thursday evening at 7pm? Employee said they were very busy but could have it ready in 45 minutes if that was ok based on the order size. I agreed and food was ready as stated. Both rolls we're very tasty with a good side of wasabi and pickled ginger. Quality of food and ease of online ordering make me look forward to my next order from Sushi Zen. read more

Always great!!!! My only complaint is sometimes they put my tuna sashimi in the same container with a deep fried roll in my carry out which actually starts cooking the tuna. But eat in has always been a treat. And the young front desk crew are tripping over each other to help you...Nice job! read more
