It's my favourite sushi haunt and it definitely helps that it's on the same street as my work building. With unique plates filled with buttery fish and a wide variety of cooked options including karaage, gyoza and dumplings there's something to please everyone. Service has been exceptional each time I eat here with water glasses being refilled regularly and helpful staff at every turn. It can be slightly more expensive than your bog-standard suburban train, but I'm willing to pay for the atmosphere and comfortable surrounds.

They have simplified their 'plate pricing' by only have 2 types of plates on the menu - all plates with coloured rings around the edges are $4.50, the patterned plates / premium items are $8.00. Wide selection of fresh made sushi rolls, nigri, entree items (gyoza, prawn parcels, chicken karaage bites etc), premium items, desserts and miso soup on the sushi train, but you can also order from the menu. Tried a mini tempura prawn udon bowl soup for $8.00 and it was awesome. Brown rice and black rice sushi rolls on the train and lots of vegetarian options. They have a little takeaway window at the front of the restaurant with sushi rolls for a quick takeaway lunch. The chefs work fast, and all items on the sushi train are fresh, fresh, fresh. My visit was interesting this time. I had the karaage, edamame and some dragon rolls. On this visit I was trying to collect my dishes as take away. The lady insisted I wait for fresh orders instead of taking existing orders off the train as I would have done in the past. This made take away a fair bit longer. Perhaps the server should have offered me the choice of I was time poor. The server wasn't quite aware of the full menu when I asked for a particular item she said they didn't have until I showed her on the menu, maybe I wasn't clear. I paid for my items and waited an extraordinary amount of time for my order to be presented. The chef kindly brought my order to me and sent me out the door only to have the server chase me out the door and into the car park to check my order to make sure it was correct, I can only presume she was doing as she fished through my bag outside the restaurant while the other diners watched. It was quite embarrassing really. Perhaps they could have communicated. Probably won't be back to this Sushi Train.

Its now one of three and probably soon to be four, as development on another site on Oxford Street seems to indicate, yet another Japanese Restaurant. Sushi Mura is not Japanese/Chinese fusion like Yum Yum Gyoza House, and has a wide selection of dishes you would typically find at a Japanese restaurant on their menu. From Sushi through to mixed sushi boxes, Salads, Japanese U-don soups, various Curries and of course Teriyaki options. There's room for dining-in and inside (which is larger than Yum Yum Gyoza House) there's an aesthetically calm feel to the space. Simple low hanging pendant lights and the natural colours of the wooden floors (& matching tables), and with the use of black chairs giving form and definition. The service is friendly and full of smiles. Always wins points with me. The food can't really be faulted either. I like Japanese food. I am a fan of their Teriyaki chicken bento box, which comes standard with rice, miso soup and salad. The spring rolls and calamari were great too. In terms of pricing, its not too bad, and yes I do think its "value-for-money". However, If I had to compare Sushi Mura to Yum Yum Gyoza House, the latter slightly wins on this criteria. All-in-all, Bulimbarians and east-siders in general should feel lucky they are spoilt for choice when it comes to Japanese cuisine.
