In the US this would be 1 or 2 stars max. In the UK, this a little more common, so I cut them a break. This is 45 minutes outside of London.
My pet peeve at sushi bars is not being able to order from and interact with the chef. The whole reason for sitting at the bar is the interactive experience.
The salmon and yellowtail were very good. The sea bass was fishy. The tuna was pre sliced instead of cut fresh, which isn't the worse thing but it was also very wet. That's when I saw it sitting in water, soaking it up.
When I ordered a scallop and crab hand roll (not on the menu) they just about vapor locked. They had to call it a California roll with added scallop and no avocado. It was almost humorous watching them talk about it in the back. Like it was the craziest thing ever.
The service was excellent and they did want to please, but they should do some research and visit a couple places in London, like Sushi Atelier.
If I come again I would try the truffle ribeye beef. It looked amazing as it was going to another table. read more
