I happily call this the best sushi train in all of Brisbane. The train track is really long and connects to all of the large amount of seating. There are booths as well as individual seating and the higher backs of the booth seating provide a little privacy. Be warned, on busy nights the booths are only used for groups of 3 or more. They have a wide array of options as well as all the standard favorites. All of the aburi options are fantastic, the sashimi is fresh and the udon is delicious (although very filling, order this first or after only a plate or two) They also have a little separate bar for making drinks. This place is regularly busy at night and sometimes lunch, with people queued and waiting outside most nights of the week. Although I've never had to wait much longer than 20 minutes, there is always the take away option if you want food sooner. Prices are good and reasonable, the highest plates being $8 but they average at $4. I think the udon is about $14. I love this place and come here often even when it is out of my way. read more

With great service I usually get seated in a jiffy, then get to sit back, relax and watch that little train come chugging my way. Sushi Train Aspley is my go to sushi train in Brisbane. I love their Teriyaki Chicken and Avocado roll, Tuna and Avocado roll, Pork Gyoza and Sweet Chili Karaage. Their Teriyaki sauce is ridiculously delicious, and is also available in sauce packets, if you feel like a bit more or taking some home. The staff are friendly, though it can be a bit hard to get their attention when it is really busy. Expect to wait a little while to be seated, if visiting around 7PM on a Friday or Saturday night, as they are very popular. There is plenty of free parking. The plates and drinks are reasonably priced, you can expect to pay around $25 if you have 5 - 6 plates and a drink. They also have a loyalty program where you can earn points, which can be used towards saving a few $$ on future visits or items such as sushi shaped lollie pops, mugs, USB drives etc. Drop in and give them a visit if you are in the area, you won't be disappointed! read more

The childish look of sushi train may be off-putting to new customers, but this restaurant can almost guarantee a meal that is delicious and healthy. The ability to pick up a plate floating past you is an innovative way for customers to try new foods and not have to bother waiting for a waiter/waitress to take your order and prepare your meal. Although this is an option, I personally prefer to take my meals from the conveyor belt going around the restaurant. The Sushi Train chain of sushi bar restaurants are an odd phenomenom: excellent sushi served in restaurants fitted out with custom wooden furnishings...located in the suburbs. I am happy to let the previous sentence show how snobby I was because the Aspley Sushi Train is damned good. This Sushi Train is decorated with wooden poles hung from the ceiling, resembling an arboreal wave. The train track is a gigantic 'H' shape, with stools for individual seating located on the lefthand-side and inner horizontal bar; small and large booths occupy the other sides of the 'H'. Altogether, the restaurant can seat a fair amount of people, but be forewarned, there are always lines during peak hours (7pm-8pm). During these times, booths are reserved for groups of three or more people. Expect to wait up to twenty minutes during the busiest times. There's a takeaway spot inside at the back lefthand corner of the train if you want to skip the line. If you don't see what you want on the train, you can order it from a staff member. You can expect all of the standard sushi offerings - nigiri, sashimi, boats, aburi - as well as rice dishes and udon. The latter dishes are quite sizeable and filling, so order with this in mind. Prices vary from $3.50 to $5.50ish for sushi plates; rice and udon are a little bit more. All sushi is prepared well with fresh ingredients, and the restaurants continually adds new items to the menu. My food recommendation: all of the aburi. Eat. All. Of. Them. I'm drooling just writing this. If you eat at the Sushi Train franchises as much as I do, it could be a good idea to sign up for a membership. Points accrue for every meal you have there, which can be used as credit towards a future meal, or for little prizes. I have been a regular at this Sushi Train since it opened. Unfortunately it has slowly but steadily gone downhill. The last straw for me was when I was overcharged twice in a row. The first time the waitress rang up a small udon as a large. I protested, but her English was so poor she couldn't seem to understand me. So I just kind of shrugged and paid, as $8 wasn't much of a difference. The second time a trainee waitress told me there was a special on udon and the difference between a small and a large was only a dollar so I might as well change my order to a large. When I went to pay I was once again charged full price. The last time I was in there I ordered a large udon and two serves of nigiri.The udon had a third of the amount of wagu it was supposed to, and the two plates of nigiri were ridiculously undersized compared to what was on the train. They looked like someone had decided to make miniature versions as a joke, with one third of the normal ingredients. I explained to the waitress that I was leaving without eating or paying, and she then asked me if the problem was that there was not enough rice. As if anyone looking at those plates could not tell they had not been made correctly. In their defense previously when a curry has been served cold they have remade it, and several of the waitstaff and cooks are very friendly. Other issues include booths and benches not being wiped down properly between guests, it's quite common to find stray pieces of food and sticky patches. I'm not saying don't go to this Sushi Train. When it opened it was a five star place to eat, but is no longer. Make sure you carefully examine your bill, and expect to sometimes be frustrated by staff who don't speak English well enough to answer questions about the menu or generally do their jobs. read more

This place is always busy... Though we went on Friday lunchtime and surprisingly it was quiet, we even got a booth. The food is always consistent and they often add new items to move with the current trends. This trip we tried an aburi wagyu roll which was good. read more

The only sushi train I look forward to going to dine. I love sushi and so does my family. We know the good places and their name is not to be mistaken for any other logo because they know what they're doing. Their traditional greeting when someone enters the restaurant is adorable. Traditional is key. Remember to look for awards and signs that officially say that a place is good. Most of the time you find them, other times you just gotta know the places food to know they're graciously good. Also the sushi cola is a MUST and this is the only sushi train franchise you'll find it at! read more

While some nights you may find yourself waiting a short while to be seated, the quality of the dishes available are worth it. The train is quite large with a broad selection of sushi including the usuals: chicken, salmon, eel, duck, tuna, caviar, prawn etc. however recently wagyu was added which is quite delicious. There is of course a menu to order from if you don't see what you want and the staff are friendly and efficient. Prices are normal and you can eat a fair bit without spending too much. The place itself is large with stylish, modern decor and a buzzing atmosphere. Don't be afraid to try their specialty drinks or desserts and the loyalty card is great value. read more

Being a bit of a sushi fan and having had some GREAT sushi and some not so great sushi. This is a gem on the northside. As previous reviewers have said it's always packed at lunchtime and dinner even during the week. There sushi is made continually during the day and they will make fresh to order anything on the menu you would like, quickly and with a smile. This is a wonderful restaurant for the whole family to come. They have all sorts of sushi and if one of your faves doesn't come for a while you can order it and they will bring it to you in a short amount of time. They also have simpler types of sushi for the people who want to start of slow including the Gyoza/Dumpling and the Karage/Chicken Unigiri, spicy or regular.
