We had a good lunch here. The only caveat is that they are located in a touristy area, so prices are a tad high. Then again fish and sushi are more expensive now than they've ever been. The restaurant is opposite the Marathon gas station and next to Even Keel. It's just south of the corner of Commercial Boulevard. The Yelp location pin was dropped in a different area, so we had to double back to find it. But I've reported it to Yelp -- so hoping that this gets corrected soon. There's a nice patio area under umbrellas on the outside. As it was extremely hot, we chose one of their inside tables. It's not large inside, but still spacious. A large Buddha's head decorates one wall. They have a lunch menu including hibachi dishes but it was not that appealing to me. We both started with their green salads. This was a large bowl of crispy iceberg lettuce topped with cucumber slices, tomato slices, and carrots. Their ginger dressing was served on the side. After that, I had their kanisu roll. It was beautifully presented. The krab, avocado, and masago were very good wrapped in cucumber. And I liked the sweet sunomono sauce. The only complaint was that it fell apart when picked up. My husband had their "yummy" roll which was on the lunch specials menu. It was fried white fish with avocado inside and topped with raw tuna and crunchies in the outside . A great bang for your buck when it comes to sushi. Fairly priced and all the sushi's come with good portions compared to what you'll usually get in places like boston. I've dined at the las olas location and enjoy the special fried rice so decided to try this location. My husband and I came to the restaurant around 9 15 pm. There were 2 servers and 2 cooks. Appetizer came out quick but our food took forever. Mind you, we are the ONLY people in the entire restaurant. Our waitress said it would be out shortly and then nothing. When she came out she said sorry, but the staff got backed up with take out orders. You would think in person would take priority. The service was poor. The wait for main entrees took way too long. The server was not attentive. When asked how the food was and I brought the rubbery scallops to his attention, his fix was "sorry, I'll tell the cooks. We are newly open the last 2 months." He offered a free dessert as we were paying the bill-too late. Comping the bad scallops would have been the best customer service, not excuses nor a dessert offer after we got the bill. The food was pretty decent, a little expensive for the quality but the prices match the area. We ordered a mojito flight and when it came out, the server gave told us the wrong order of the drinks (not that big of a deal but we didn't know what we were drinking). Our main issue was when the check came; our totally was about $90 (drinks, 3 plates, 1 appetizer, and a side of rice) so we gave the waiter a $100. Neither of us dinning had any smaller bills than $20 so we were going to tip $20 (about 25% which is a lot more than what the service deserved- it was empty and our waiter disappeared halfway through our meal). We were waiting on our change because we weren't going to leave a 32% tip, but he never gave us back the change. Not only that, but on the receipt, it stated that we only gave him 90.95 (we only had $100 bill, not exact change) so he tipped himself out without us knowing. Dined here tonight worst sushi I have ever had including grocery store sushi . The fish wasn't fresh and quality was substandard definitely not sustainable grade fish. Service was mediocre and didn't feel like an experience rather felt impersonal and rushed. We dined in since it was early dining and it was still hot outside the inside is small and noisy but if the sushi was top shelf this definitely could be overlooked. Too bad you deserve to do better, and we your customers deserve better. Also they serve krab rather than crab that is a red flag especially for being seaside. I have never ever complained about anything on a public forum but right now I feel the need to do so. My husband and I along with our granddaughter went for a late lunch at Sushi Sake in Lauderdale by the Sea. We eat out at least 3 days a week and this was the worst dining experience we have ever had hands down. For starters they brought my my lunch out at least 10 minutes before my husband's and my granddaughter's. After waiting for the server to come and check on us, which never happened BTW, my husband had to go and fetch the missing soy sauce for me. I politely waited for their food to come out while my food got cold. Still no server checking on us we sat with what had to be the most offensive music being piped out of the speakers. Now I am no prude, but wow!!! How insulting sitting listening to lyrics so shocking about bitches, the n-word, whores, and much worse. At this point, we could not wait to get out of there. My husband's and granddaughter's food finally came after I finished my cold food. No apologies, no excuses. Nothing. Just horrible service. And let me add, we were only one of two tables in the whole establishment. I would go by Sushi Sake often and it always appeared to have very few patrons. Heck, even last night while the band was playing downtown and all restaurants were packed there were hardly any tables taken at Sushi Sake. My heart would break. Hate to see a business not do well in town. Well now I see why. Good luck Sushi Sake. We will never be back. And if they do eventually go out of business, my heart will not be sad.
