Recently tried this place out for the first time. We went on a Wednesday which happened to be perfect as they have 15% off. It is self seating, and we were immediately greeted with edamame. We shared their two item combo meal. We chose chicken katsu and a California roll. We planned to get their three item combo meal, but you are unable to get two different types of sushi. So we just opted for two items. The food was very good, but the restaurant itself could be cleaner. The place itself is on the smaller side, but plenty of seating and parking. There were so many unique sushi roll options along with many other food options. The fish was fresh and flavors were great. Our kids loved it! The staff was amazing and attentive toward us and the children. It is smaller inside so I recommend making a reservation if it's a busier time or day. These rolls were the Geisha (add garlic sauce) and moonlight. The other may have been California Morning and Green Valley. All were delicious. read more

If you have a gluten allergy- GO HERE! Let me start off by saying, I very rarely ever go to yelp to do a review but if I could give them more stars- I would. My husband and I ate here last night, I have a pretty decent gluten allergy and nothing on the menu said "gluten friendly" or anything like that so i was a little nervous but sushi is a better bet than most places. Not only was the sushi chef amazing by communicating all the things he was doing, what contained gluten- what didn't.. how he could accommodate me and making sure that I didn't get sick. And he delivered. He was very kind and friendly, I got the HIBAR roll and it was very good. Fast forward to today and i am not sick. I usually will get sick almost instantly but might take until the next morning for me to have other symptoms and i have NONE. First time in 5+ years I didn't get sick eating out at a new restaurant for the first time. I can't recommend their business enough. They have a repeat customer as long as they're in business- I will eat at no other sushi restaurant but here. Thank you guys so much!! read more

I've eaten at Sushi Qu before it changed owners. I have to admit I liked it better before. We had several dishes and they were ok. We always enjoy a spider roll and was disappointed in the cooking of the softshell crab. It was overcooked and dry. The atmosphere here was pretty nonexistent. Staff service was ok. Overall it was ok but I can't reccomend it there are too many other places. That said I will probably go back there but it will probably be a while. read more

Has been a while since I have been but they have done a good job every time I have been. They have a good lunch special and follow Covid protocols. We ordered from them a few times during the pandemic and they were good about having everything prepared and ready to go. Food was not great. I didn't like the texture of the rice and fish was just okay. The only roll that was decent was the one wrapped in cucumber. The timing of the food was inconsistent receiving one roll long after we had already finished the other rolls. Really didn't want it at that point. I would suggest heading down the road to Miyuki. Won't be going back there again. We don't eat out that much anymore because it's gotten so expensive. But we were wanting Japanese food for lunch I checked the menu online to see if they had increased their prices. They were still the same price's that we paid before. So we ordered the same thing that we had ordered the last time. To our surprise the price for our lunch was almost tripled from the last time. My feathers were more than ruffled to pay over $40.00 for lunch. I was so upset that I called and spoke to the owner? I asked if their prices had increased and if so why didn't they update their menu. I got two different answers to my question. First one was that he's been to busy to do it. Then he informed me that google wouldn't let him change the menu? I'm not sure if in fact that I'm going to believe either one. When they first opened it was the only restaurant that we would go to. Not sure if they have had different owners but I use to enjoy going there. No more will go back to my other restaurant's that are just as good if not better. Well I've been coming here for a while. This was a place to go for me and my kids. My kids loved the owner behind the bar making the sushi as he is friendly. HIS WIFE is a different story. Placed an order over the phone and I was very specific I wanted a roll that had cream cheese and mango(the only good one in this place). When my wife arrived with the order we saw it was completely different. I called back and the lady owner said to bring and back and they'd give me a new one. So I did. When i got there she was furious and LECTURED me on how to properly order and how they had repeated the order. To which I told the associate that she was wrong as I was specific over the phone that I wanted one with cream cheese and mango. Clearly she doesn't know the menu. The owner continued to lecture me and sent me outside. When she came to hand me the food she told me "don't worry this can be the last time you order here" That's fine. I prefer IMURAS 100% than this. Would just stop by as my kids loved it. Not no more. You lost a client who would come to your establishment during the pandemic and supported you. Japanese food is my favorite food. I could eat my way through Japan if I ever visited! Lol Since I am a self-proclaimed Japanese food connoisseur, you best believe that I have tried every Japanese restaurant in my hometown. Not sure why I delayed coming here. Even with my little sister confirming that this place is good. Probably because it's so far out of my way from my usual route to and from work. Plus I have a tendency to be a creature of habit when it comes to dining in my hometown and I already have a favorite Japanese restaurant in the area. Anyway, my boss invited my coworkers and I for a celebration and picked this place as our lunch destination. I was immediately intrigued when I caught sight of the storefront and signs. A cartoonish octopus is part of their logo and brand. It is prominent on all their signs, uniforms, and business cards. Absolutely adorable and so kawaii! Upon entering, you are a bit taken back by how tiny the restaurant is. However it is welcoming with modern furniture, real, wood tables and chairs, good, natural lighting, and cute décor. We got seated next to a window. The window sill had a little tree (not sure whether or not it was real) decorated with cute, sushi ornaments. A porcelain or ceramic, white maneki-neko (lucky cat) waved at us from the window sill. They have Japanese music videos playing on a television screen on their wall. They are definitely very in tune with Japanese pop culture. I was impressed by their extensive menu. Especially when it comes to their sushi rolls and bento boxes. Normally it's slim pickings when it comes to what you can order on a bento box. However this place has plenty of options. I ordered a two item bento box with salmon teriyaki, California roll, and salad. The bento boxes come with a small bowl of miso soup and a small bowl of steamed white rice. I ordered a hot tea as my beverage. I enjoyed my miso soup. It seemed fresh with lots of cubes of tofu and seaweed. It wasn't overly salty or grainy which is common with some restaurant chain's miso soups. The hot tea was good and served in a traditional Japanese style, ceramic cup. When the bento box arrived, the food wasn't served in a plastic bento box with compartments for each item. You're food is all served on one large, white ceramic plate. The rice was in a separate bowl. The salad was fresh with crisp lettuce, two slices of cucumbers, and a halved, juicy, cherry tomato. The salmon teriyaki was disappointing. It wasn't a thick salmon steak but a flattened, long sliver from a salmon steak. It was a little overcooked and topped with an excessive amount of teriyaki sauce and a sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds. Salmon is my favorite fish and what I was served here was a huge letdown. Especially when you pay extra when you order salmon teriyaki on your bento box. The California roll was pretty good, however somewhat monstrous! Meaning it wasn't bite-sized and was extremely disproportioned. It fell apart as soon as I picked it up with my chopsticks because it was so big and heavy and cut strangely. It was more like a thick, sushi log rather than a sushi roll. It was packed with so much shredded crab (possibly imitation crab) and little pieces of avocado. My coworker ordered a tempura roll and said hers wasn't bite-size as well and wished she had a knife and fork to cut into it in order to eat it. Our server was pretty attentive and friendly. Well up until we wanted to leave. I had to bring our bill and payment to her. I hate doing that. Honestly, there were only two other parties there. I really shouldn't be doing the work. I used to work in a restaurant during my college years and I was aware that most people visiting during noon on a weekday were on their lunch break and didn't have a whole lot of time to burn. So I was mindful of their time constraints and anticipated their every need. I wish that all servers had that awareness when it comes to their weekday, lunch guests. They gift you with Hi-Chew candies with your bill. Some Japanese restaurants, heck many restaurants don't do that. I enjoy a parting gift after ever meal. Would I return? Maybe. However if I do I'll try the chicken teriyaki and order a sushi roll. I'll pass on the salmon. read more

I can only speak of how great the Dinner combo is here because whenever i'm here I never get anything else. It can feel a bit cramped inside but I've never experienced it being packed.100% of the time I leave this restaurant full and happy. The food here doesn't disappoint they're pretty consistent. Service is always top notch. The staff is very friendly, great location and great atmosphere. My favorite thing to order on thier menu is the: Chicken Teriyaki with a spicy tuna roll, it's very filling. Whenever i am in Watsonville this is my go to place for Japanese food. If I could give this place a 0 i would. First off, the wait staff is horrible. I've been here a few times and each time i come they get at least one of my items wrong. They never go check if you need anything else. The only time you see them is when they take your food. Second, the owners are always chit chatting with customers, I'm guessing their friends, even through there are people waiting on their food. The sushi chef is a hit or miss with his rolls but recently they have been trash. He doesn't tighten them up well which results in them falling apart. Sushi Qu is such an underrated restaurant! I've been a regular for years and not once have they disappointed. Customer service and owner are always super friendly and welcoming. Their house dressing for the salad is amazing! Their servings are pretty decent. I'm a small eater so I always get a kids lunch plate. Chicken teriyaki is my favorite their chicken is always tender and there's plenty of yummy teriyaki sauce! My favorite roll is the greenfield with extra sweet sauce it's amazing. If Imuras is your go to sushi place you're missing out! I've only been to Imuras a handful of times and it doesn't even begin to compare to sushi qu. It's also decently priced! OMG I almost forget about their tempura! Best tempura I've ever had. It's always so crispy and has a great flavor. Even if it's a to go order by the time I'm home it's still crispy. Went for lunch today. Right next door to Super Max, a very tiny place: 7 tables plus "bar" seating (a counter with chairs facing the window). Great, varied menu too: sushi, ramen, udon, and combo plates that are perfect for lunch. They were doing a brisk take out business while we were there. I ordered the 2 item combo plate ($9.50): I chose the California roll and tempura. It also came with miso soup, rice, and salad. I like to try tempura once to see if it's light (as tempura should be) or greasy (as it shouldn't be). This was some of the best! Lacy & crispy battered veggies & shrimp, not drowning in oil. Would definitely have again. The California roll, while excellent tasting, was rolled way too large. It had to be about 2 1/2 inches across and too hard to pick up with chopsticks, let alone dip in soy sauce. The miso soup was the perfect temperature and not as salty as other places I've had it. The salad was, well, a salad. My husband also tried the combo plate and had tempura & mackerel. For lunch, plus tip, it was under $25. The wait staff - just one - was very friendly but was definitely kept running the whole time. She greeted, seated, took orders, manned the phone, brought your check, and was cheerful the whole entire time. I hope they are paying her to do the job of three people. We thought the tempura was quite good. The tako sunomo and the seafood salad were excellent! The rolls were just ok. If you don't care for krab salad with mayo (we don't), be aware that they put it in most of the rolls. It really didn't help the spider roll. We'll come back and try their noodles for sure. This place is intimate. It has a good ambiance. Staff was please. But the food isn't. I ate here before but it failed my taste buds so I told myself maybe it's just me. So I didn't eat here for quite sometime. Today, I gave it chance and it failed me again. The ramen that I ordered was the ramen from plastic bag (tasted like top ramen) that purchased in grocery stores and they just spiced it with hot sauce and placed a little bit of Vegas and over cooked egg and that costs $10.50! I also ordered the mountain roll and it failed me again. The rice was so hard and I'm not impressed with the taste. For 1 person alone costs almost $30.00! Very expensive and very low quality. Extremely dissapointed. I placed an order around 5pm and was told it would be ready in 25-35 minutes. I arrive at 5:35 pm and am told they need a few more minutes, which was understandable. 45 minutes later, I ask if there is an update on my order and they tell me they are waiting on 1 more roll. 30 minutes later I walk back inside and the workers all look completely lost and the person who rung me up when I first arrived looked away and whispered over to a younger worker, I assume she felt too embarrassed to tell me sorry herself. Finally got my order with 1/2 the rolls cold and squished together. During the entire time I waited there was zero communication. I stood outside while countless others walked in and out with orders larger than mine. I witnessed 3 families walk in, dine in, and walk out, meanwhile not one worker assured me my order would be ready soon. Not going back and neither should you. read more
