This beautiful elegant restaurant specializes in Japanese and Latin cuisines with an endless menu of mouth watering dishes! Stocked with a full bar to accommodate for your mood! What we had: Strawberry Hibiscus Margarita Moscow Mule Ninjas Mofongito Mount Fuji Volcano Roll Ula Roll Mar y Tierra Lamb chops Chocolate Mousse Passion Fruit Tres Leches Shoutout to: Our beautiful server Jasmine! She was truly amazing! Her recommendations were to PERFECTION! Honestly, I enjoyed every single dish and drink! She was pleasant to interact with from start to finish and its energy like hers that makes you want to return! Our gorgeous bartender Riri! Her cocktails were so on point !! Delicious is an understatement! I HIGHLY recommend the Strawberry Hibiscus Margarita with rimmed sugar! Yum! Hopefully she's there when you go so she can hook you up!

    This sangria was delicious!

I celebrated my daughter's 16th Birthday here on 3/14/25. This place was wonderful. The food and drinks were delicious and the presentation was beautiful! From the moment we arrived to the time we left the service was superb. The server was very attentive and knowledgeable about the food and drinks. The decor was nice. The colors were vibrant and inviting. The kids enjoyed the space as well. The only downfall was that we had to pay cash because the card machine was down and the ATM is outside.

    Rolls and fried rice.

I recently had a birthday dinner with my brother. To be fair, my experience was higher than three stars but stopped short of four stars. Despite the reviews to the contrary, the staff was nice to us. We sat outside and when our food did not fit on a table, they gave a second table. This later proved to be a burden as when it got later, people started to show up and hate us as they had to wait for that other table. That was awkward. Since we were outside, they were literally part of our dinner. The food takes a while to come. The regular sushi rolls were fine but not phenominal. It was what you would expect as part of a lunch special sized portion at a midtown sushi spot. Small. No clapping, but no complaints either. Average is safe. The specialty rolls are different and they seem to be trying to do something unique and they should be applauded for that. These things are worth a try. Many of them have nothing to do with fish. The Dominican fried rice is tasty but sized like a side. It is literally the rice you would find in a small rice bowl. Paired with two rolls, I was still somewhat unfufilled. The El rey is pretty cool. Drinks were ok. I went to wash my hands and the soap bottle was basically water put into the dying bottle. Bathroom was otherwise fine, clean and had towels. There was no problem paying by credit card. Gratuity was added to the check. Not sure why, but I'm ok with that. What gave me pause was the credit card bill being returned without the original receipt and a simple total with a blank gratuity line and no reflection that a gratuity had been previously assessed. In the end, concepts like this in neighborhoods that would otherwise not enjoy these cusines are great. The small things bring this to just under a 4 star review to me.

What is so hard about just putting hot soup in a bowl and some noodles in another bowl? Well, the waiter had an attitude and said that could not be done. It's the cold noodles on the side and the hot noodles had to be in the soup. I like my noodles al dente so I prefer them on the side. He wasn't going to have it. Kept on arguing with me, so I asked to speak to someone else. Much discussion went on about this and I just decided I didn't want to be annoyed anymore. The customer is always right. I went a few doors down to a Cajun place and the people next to me asked for their sauce on the side. The waiter there said ok. People want their food how they want it. Just understand this when you serve food. If you look at my photos for my previous visit, you can see they put the noodles on the side. What's so difficult about that? It wasn't like this place had a line out the door either at lunch time so they cannot afford to drive away customers.

Broth for the ramen mediocre, spicy noodles overcooked and tasted like a cheap Thai restaurant. But what really bothered me was the slow and confused service. The waiters were moving around the restaurant a lot but kept forgetting to bring drinks from the bar or dishes from the kitchen. So drinks weren't cold and food wasn't warm enough. Noodles stretched out and without the correct texture. Overall very disappointing. Especially considering the previous Tampopo and the one on187th.

The inside is super cute, and the display of the food is top notch. - Hand-roll set, (5/5): very worth your money! this entire set can definitely fill you up, and each of the hand rolls are so unique in flavor and super filling. I love the banchan as well, and my favorite is the edamame, which I think or flavored with miso butter?? - Pork Cutlet set, (4.5/5): got curry on the side as extra for $5, because it doesn't feel right to have tonkatsu without curry! The cutlet itself was fried very well, and it was not oily at all. it was on the sliiightly drier side, but I recommend getting it with the curry - Yuzu Cheesecake, (3.75/5): can taste the yuzu here, but the texture itself was a bit crumby, and I prefer a creamier texture. the serving size was also a bit small, and we felt that the strawberry didn't really pair well with the cheesecake overall I would come here again to try their other menu items! I ordered the Unagi Don Gozen ($42)- it came with a whole tray of different delicious items, with the star of the show being a generous amount of unagi (eel) over rice. There was also a small bowl of udon noodles, some sashimi, a crispy tempura shrimp in a yummy creamy sauce, flavorful edamame, mashed potato with corn, and some pickled veggies - quite the diverse array, all of which was tasty. The restaurant itself has a rather simple yet elegant Japanese wooden design. The prices suggest it's a more high end place, but the vibe is actually rather casual. The staff are very attentive and the service speed is pretty quick. Overall, I would definitely give Moru 4.5 stars if I could. I think it's great for most types of occasions, and the only reasons it's not getting 5 stars is because I do think the prices are a tad higher than I would've hoped and I think they could've done a bit more in terms of designing the place to match the price point. That being said, I still highly recommend Moru, especially for a nice lunch.

The concept here centers around their hambagu which at the other location was limited per day and was served with their signature curry. We got a few appetizers and enjoyed each one thoroughly. I got the original hamburg steak which actually contains both beef and pork with the gorgonzola white cream sauce and kinoko baby bell mushrooms. The steaks come in a set with other sides including white rice, miso soup, salad, chawanmushi (steamed egg), and a scoop of mashed potato. It was $23 + $2 for the mushroom topping for all of this food (which I couldn't even finish), so I'd say the value is pretty good. The steak was good and juicy, although to be honest, not sure if it's better than in the normal burger form. The gorgonzola white cream sauce dominated the flavor profile a bit, though it was pretty good if you like cheesy sauces. They make it clear on the menu that it takes 20 min to prep the steaks, which was an accurate estimate. The staff were fairly friendly although I thought they could've been a bit more attentive. The restaurant is situated on River Road, which is quite a busy street with limited street parking at times. There is a decent amount of seating inside though and the place has a chill clean environment. Overall, I enjoyed my meal, but it wasn't quite impressive enough to warrant a full 5 stars, especially with the prep time. That being said, I would still definitely recommend it if you are in the area and interested in trying a hamburg steak.

The happy-hour menu is limited (around six or seven dishes), but it works for me. On my last visit, I spent about $30 total. That included a Japanese draft beer from the tap (Sapporo) and two entrées, one around $12 and the other about $10. I left satisfied. I'm not a sushi aficionado, but I know what tastes good. The eel avocado rolls are a favorite, and the California rolls are always reliable. Everything I've ordered has been fresh and well prepared. One thing I appreciated: tips are included. I was about to add one manually, and the bartender stopped me and let me know it was already built in. I actually liked that: no awkward guessing, no accidental overpaying, and it felt fair. The space has two clear vibes. I usually sit in the front section, which is mellow, softly lit, and relaxing, with a view of the sushi prep station. If I'm out with higher-energy friends, we'll move to the other section, which feels more like a bar with a few tables and a more festive weekend energy, sometimes with music or a DJ. I've also been here once outside of happy hour and spent around $50-$60. I left full and satisfied, though expectations may vary depending on what you're used to. For me, happy hour is the sweet spot. Staff is consistently polite and professional, the place is clean, and there's always a steady crowd no matter the day or time--which says a lot. They've been around for a while, and it shows. For the area, they're doing a good job. Definitely recommend.
