I have been here several times and do not know why I have not written a review. Every time we come in we are greeted and seated right away. They have a roll they call cheesecake, I think, that is complimentary as well as the clear soup. I wish you could order this as a roll, it is sweet and a nice way to say welcome in. They do not have brewed tea, it is fountain tea which I really dislike so my only options are water or soda. We have shared several of the chef special roll like the independence roll and the new years roll. They have always been very good and are huge. As a meal this would probably be enough. My go to is the Poke bowl I get salmon and tuna. you get to choose 5 toppings and get your choice of greens, white rice or fried rice. Looking for something different, my wife tried the fried rice and that was a game changer. It was moist and flavorful. Now we only get fried rice in these bowls. read more

I had the chicken and steak hibachi, the chicken tasted like it was artificial not good at all rubbery texture. The steak was tough. The noodles were super greasy. My husband meal was similar greasy noodles vegetables not cooked all the way on both dishes. Our server was very nice and polite and did offer to substitute it for something else. Their lunch menu is awesome, good prices, generous portions and it comes with soup, salad & a small appetizer (Philly cheese cake-deep fried crab meat w/ cream cheese). We liked the crab appetizer so much we ordered another full order of it. The atmosphere is very relaxed, our server was nice & the service was fast. We didn't have to wait long for the food to come out. I ordered the lunch special: two sushi rolls. I got the shrimp tempura roll & California roll and my sister also had the sushi lunch special & she ordered spicy salmon roll & tuna avocado roll. Everything was delicious and served beautifully. The rolls were pretty good but I noticed every item I ordered was overly sweet. The quality of the fish on my nigiri was good but the rice it came on was too sweet so I peeled the fish off. Same with the rolls, anything in eel sauce was way too sweet and in general there was too much sauce (crazy girl roll and incredible roll). Personally I would recommend rolls where the fish is able to shine more like the Yulee role but again, something was off about their rice (it reminds me of grocery store quality). They gave me a Philly cheese cake on the house (fried appetizer, bit of a misnomer) and it had a really nice crisp to it and of course very much appreciated but again was really sweet. read more

I really don't understand bad reviews of Sushi House. My husband and I frequently go on "sushi dates" and this is our go-to! Lunch is the best time to go- we get the 2 roll special that comes with soup, salad (I highly recommend the ginger dressing) and a cream cheese roll (I could seriously eat three of those ) Food is always good and Jean is usually our server. Best sushi in Fernandina! I've tried different sushi restaurants around Fernandina Beach, but this is by far my favorite spot. They have a variety of fresh, delicious, and unique roles at good prices. Aside from the amazing sushi rolls, the service is great! The atmosphere is really nice - I sat behind the partition near the door, and it felt super cozy and private. The food was amazing! The sushi was very fresh, the hibachi is cooked perfectly, and my husband really enjoyed the tempura plate - we had no idea that EVERYTHING was going to be deep fried. Went fairly often when I lived there and always got the same thing, shrimp fried rice and sesame chicken. I was surprised to see they stopped serving the sesame chicken. Not sure why, I thought it was a pretty popular item. I was very disappointed when I couldn't find it anywhere. I ordered the shrimp fried rice anyway and it just wasn't the same. I called ahead to ask if they could accommodate food allergies and special requests. Emphatic "yes we can do that!" I then ordered online so that there would be no confusion- if it's in writing in front of their face, they can't say they didn't hear or understand something, right? I specifically detailed in the notes, where it explicitly prompts one to list special instructions, "including food allergies". Halfway through my meal, I'm swelling up, getting a migraine, wheezing, the works. I did due diligence by 1. Calling ahead and verbally confirming they can accommodate my food allergy, 2. NOT providing a phone order, but a written instruction on what to avoid, so there was no communicating barrier, misunderstanding, or forgetfulness to deal with, 3. Selected "refund if not available" rather than "allow establishment to swap with their own recommendation" so that a slip-up would not occur that way, 4. Provided my contact information for any wisdoms or clarifications needed. I paid over $70 to get 'poisoned' and now a copay on an epi-pen. read more

We've been looking for a reasonably good Japanese sushi and tempura place since moving into the area last year. Went here on a whim - the server came over almost immediately and asked if we wanted a drink. We both asked for green tea... and were surprised when it came within 2 minutes. Then the server brought over a "sample" fried roll. She ordered a sushi/sashimi lunch, and I ordered shrimp tempura and cucumber maki. The complementary mushroom soup was delicious - it had some crushed fried noodles in it. Then we were both served salad with plenty of ginger dressing. Her sushi plate had generous helpings of both sashimi and sushi with a California roll. She asked for more pickled ginger - the server brought some over almost immediately. The shrimp tempura was accompanied by tempura onion rings, broccoli, summer squash, and a mushroom. Everything - and I mean *EVERYTHING* was served hot and was delicious. This one goes on the list.
