Miso soup and seaweed salad
Kat N.

Went here for my birthday and Wonderful food! Very well priced! Got a big bowl of miso soup for $1.50 and some delicious seaweed salad! Very authentic! They had a daily special which was: One roll that's at least $10 you get a $3-5 roll for $1.50! Seaweed salad was $3.50! Atmosphere: well decorated, only complaint that's causing me to not give it a full 5 stars is that they had a stack of foam cups to pour the water in and they had a couple hairs in the cups which was unpleasant but if say it's worth the trip! Also they were playing Seinfeld which is a bonus!

This place is no-frills sushi, but good quality. It reminds me of what I imagine a local sushi place may be like in Japan. Not a lot of ambiance just down to the business of making food. It was very clean, and to-the-point. Some people may like that, others may not. Personally, I'm ok with it. I ordered an array of rolls to take home and was happy with what I received. Spicy tuna, Christmas roll were very good

Came here for dinner with my niece to get our sushi fix and left with craving unsatisfied. We love spicy food so we ordered a few rolls that have jalapenos on it but they were pickled and not as spicy. The eel roll was the best out of the 3 we ordered. We did like the miso soup (portion is pretty big and enough to share). Service was good and friendly. I guess because its a new place, people dont know about it yet so there was no one there when we went.

Tuna, salmon, and shrimp rolls

I would definitely recommend sushi house! When I went I ordered a California roll and miso soup which was very good and tasted fresh. The workers were very friendly and helpful and am definitely going to go back very soon!

It is located in Campus Point, accross WMU campus. we ordered 3 sushi rolls and they were more than enough for 2 people. The salmon is fresh and the rolls with their sauce was delightful. The ambiance of the place is cozy and simple. The waitress was friendly and the food did not take a lot of time. Recommended for sushi lovers :)

Rainbow Roll, Yellowtail Nigiri, Salmon Roll, Calamari Roll, can't remember the name of the upper left roll.

I'm originally from the suburbs of Detroit and back home there are tons and tons of amazing sushi joints. The one downside of moving to Kalamazoo has been that the sushi restaurant ratio here is MUCH lower! I absolutely love Maru in downtown Kalamazoo but for what it is, it's completely over priced and not even real japanese sushi. When I came across Sushi House I was a little intimidated because of the outside and bland inside but WOW did they prove me wrong! I cannot believe I've lived in Kalamazoo for 2 years now and this was my first time at Sushi House! This is what REAL Japanese sushi tastes like. Simple. Fresh. Good prices. Everything I've ordered from Sushi House is fresh and the fish just melts in your mouth. Their sushi rice is the perfect consistency. Overall great experiences here and I will continue to support!

California roll. Spicy tuna roll. Shrimp tempura roll.

Omg, the sushi burritos and THE Ramen noodles!!!!! You have to try it. We enjoyed it very muchread more

Such a cool spot!…read more We visited Toba on a recent Saturday afternoon and were pleasantly surprised by this cute little spot! The menu is lengthy with so many options to choose from! We were a little overwhelmed by the choices at first, but we quickly decided to try several different things to get a better idea of the flavors and what we might like best! We started with a house salad, which was so delicious! Fresh, yummy ingredients with a truly delightful ginger dressing! Hugh flavor! Next we ordered the Gyoza - this dish was AMAZING! The dumplings were perfectly cooked and served with a delicious traditional dipping sauce. Also included was a garnish slaw with a spicy mayo dressing - this complimented the dish SO well. This dish was honestly our favorite part of our entire visit and we highly recommend!! Of course we had to try a sushi burrito which is possibly their most unique offering! I've never heard of sushi in a burrito form before Toba, what a great idea!! It's basically a giant, handheld, wrapped up piece of sushi! We chose the Toba Burrito with steamed shrimp, shrimp tempura, spicy crab salad, avocado, tempura flakes, eel sauce, and spicy mayo. This was a delicious combination! Because it's in a burrito the ingredients are thicker compared to sushi, and you can taste each addition better, but my husband and I both agreed that while this was a very fun item to try, we prefer the regular sushi rolls to the burrito. Smaller bites of each combo of flavors is our preference. :) We also got a K-zoo sushi roll which was delicious but not as chilled as I expected it to be. These pieces were large, (bigger than a one bite piece of sushi) but packed with quality, fresh ingredients with really great flavors!! My husband and I both ordered a cup of tea, both were delicious and perfect for a cloudy, rainy day!! There are several options to choose from, we asked our waiter for further explanation and recommendations. :) There are so many more options to try at Toba - we will definitely be back to try more things, the ramen for one! :) The service at Toba was excellent! Our server was very attentive and helpful! Our order arrived very quickly and in perfect stages since we tried so many different things! The atmosphere is modern and seating is consolidated to a fairly small area. We were seated in the cutest front booth, right in the window. Best seat in the house, I'd say! Kalamazoo is beaming with great foodie spots! Toba is a great addition to the downtown scene!! :)

By far the best sushi restaurant in Kalamazoo. My husband…read moreand I have tried many sushi restaurants throughout Michigan but this one definitely adds to the top of the list. To get started we ordered gyoza as an appetizer My husband asked asked the waitress for her recommendations She recommended the tornado in the firecracker along with the 911 for spice. I got the special California roll along with the Michigan roll and I loved every single bite! The gyoza was also phenomenal. Our waitress was super friendly and on point at all times we spent 67$ for 4 rolls of sushi. The owner (Tony) is usually also working there and being hands on with his staff which is fantastic to see such a supportive boss. It was a busy night for them and they were always on point we waited about 20-25 minutes which isn't bad considering the amount of people there. We will being going back.

The mixed veggie tempura roll in the sauce on it was delicious. The bento box was a very good value. It came with a side salad. However, I was disappointed that there wasn't any sauce for the Gyoza or tempura the fish was fresh! However, their seaweed salad was just.ehh.
