We went here on a Friday night without reservations. Family of 4 with a 6 and 8 year old. They'll have a white board where they keep track of a waitlist when there are no seats. We had to wait just a few minutes and thought our dinner seats opened up frequently. Most seats are right by the track where you sit side by side. In the bank there is a table for two - tête à tête - and a table of 4 where two people can easily grab things from the train but aren't right by it The busier it is, the more plates on the trains change over yet you can also order anything from the menu directly with the sushi chefs or wait staff. Drinks are grab your own from a fridge at the entrance. Now to the quality: we were very impressed! All the rolls were delicious. The gyoza as well. The kids loved the miso soup, the skewers and the tuna on the nigiri. So fresh! Prices per plate varied from about 3.50 to 6.50ish with most being in the 5-6 range. Little deduction for me as I eat keto and low carb and they did not have options to order little plates of sashimi. They had one combo available but as I don't like salmon that wasn't great either. The best sushi train I have ever been to. Hands down. First of all, the sushi is amazing. AMAZING. They have this white sauce, which isn't actually white. Ask for it. With everything. I've heard it's a combination of soy sauce and Japanese mayo, but I've tried replicating it and it's just not the same. The tempura batter they use on their tempura veggies is fantastic as well. Melt in your mouth so tasty. Oh gosh, talking about this sushi... The fried chicken is great. The omelette's (either on the sushi, or flat and wrapped around it) is really yummy, too. Tempura vegetable sushi is always a favourite. The BBQ eel is really nice too. Everything. Just try it. Did I mention the price? No? Cheapest sushi train I've been to. Cheapest AND the best. WHAT IS THIS, EVEN?! I know. And on Mondays and Tuesday nights they have cheap plates. Everything is $2.80. GAH. They've just opened up a new restaurant in Strathpine, but I'm yet to go there. Be careful if you go on a cheap night, this place gets busy so be prepared for a wait. It's worth it. Decor isn't much, but it's nice enough. Staff are good to. People take their kids so be prepared for it to get noisy (I know, I know, but the sushi is worth it). It's also BYO so grab a bottle of wine to share. read more

I find that the 'Sushi Train' franchises usually offer the best sushi in Brisbane, though yet again I decided to give an independent sushi train a try, and whilst I have had worse (they thankfully don't melt cheese on their Sushi), I wasn't particularly impressed either. The chicken and avocado roll was alright, though a bit bland. I couldn't see Teriyaki Chicken rolls, though perhaps it was just missing from the train at the time. I tried what appeared to be a sweet chilli chicken roll, this was alright, though nothing too impressive. I was most satisfied with the tuna and avocado roll, though let's face it, it is hard to screw up this roll unless the avocado is off. I personally didn't enjoy the establishments sushi that much, and won't be back. Having said that, I only had 3 plates, so perhaps some of their warm food off the menu is better. read more

Honestly, this is the best sushi joint on the peninsula - And I've been to all of them! They have such a good variety in their cuisine, which always tastes fresh and delicious, great customer service, and an easy-to-understand menu. If you want something specific just grab a menu and ask the cooks, who make everything in plain view so you have a 100% guarantee that what your making is being handled with utmost care. My only complaint is that the size of the restaraunt is rather tight. If there was more wiggle room then maybe they could handle more customers. But as it stands, the quality of the food makes it all worth it. read more

Sushi Central is hands down my favourite sushi bar. No contest. While it is a simple and casual train-service sushi bar; several things set this place apart from the big chain restaurants. The wait staff here are all very friendly, efficient, and helpful. The sushi chefs are easy to talk to, quick to make up fresh rolls to order and they have this delicious "White Sauce" that no other sushi bars have. It seems to be Japanese mayo mixed with soy sauce - however I've tried to replicate it myself at home and failed. Ingredients are fresh and delicious, crab stick sushi actually tastes like crab (not like some chain bars where it's clearly just tofu that looks like crab meat). Best part is... CHEAP NIGHT! Monday and Tuesday nights all sushi plates are on special for $2.80! Be prepared to wait for a seat, though - as this place is very popular. Staff will take down your name and how many in your group and call you in as soon as there is a place available for you. I don't mind the wait on cheap night as the sushi is worth it!! read more
