As a sushi connoisseur (seriously, it's my favorite food and I've been eating it since I was like 15), I was underwhelmed by Sushi Balls. I was disappointed with how little salmon, avocado, and cucumber were inside the large ball of rice it was contained within. I actually just discarded most of the rice and ate the interior. On the other hand, I also had a maki roll with avocado, cream cheese, shrimp, and cucumber on the inside and each piece was topped with red hot sauce and a raw slice of jalepeno. FYI - The maki rolls are like mini rolls, and they come cut thinner than I've had anywhere else here and in other countries, but that means there are more pieces to enjoy! :) I really enjoyed my maki roll, although I asked them to make it without cream cheese and it was included anyway (although they did not include cream cheese in my sushi ball as requested). The prices are okay, as I spent about $150 pesos (including tip) on this, which equates to about $8-$9 USD. Overall, I have found that most sushi here locally, as far as the fish, features surimi (imitation crab), shrimp, and eel, which is probably because those are the freshest options available here geographically. Overall, I'm glad I tried it, as I'd never heard of or seen the ball concept before, but I wouldn't return. read more
