Spider Roll (5)

The sushi was fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. Every roll we tried was delicious, and you can really taste the quality of the ingredients. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome from start to finish. The atmosphere was clean, cozy, and perfect for both casual dining and special occasions. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for great sushi and excellent service. Will definitely be coming back!

Tried the Crunch Roll (5 pcs) and sushi combo (6 pcs) with tuna, salmon, and yellowtail. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. The crunch roll had great texture, and the fish quality was solid. Price was around $19 and totally worth it.

Good place for a quick pick-up quality sushi. I would suggest to order ahead if you are short on time. They are open for lunch with a break to close before dinner. The cashier guy is friendly and professional. Ramen is okay, sushi is pretty good, macaroni ice cream sandwiches are fantastic, and bowls are very tasty. My favorite is the burrito roll and the caterpillar roll. Bottled soda, hot tea, and soda machine to quench your thirst. Wall of bento winners with pictures (shout out to my co-worker who won years ago) have now been replaced with plastered new cute art. Love that they have upgraded to see-thru to-go containers in lieu of the styrofoam.

This is a take out place where you can sit down at a table. But no table service. Fairly large sushi menu with some unique rolls. Very reasonably priced too. Sometimes the sushi rice is not fresh and can be dried out. But in general the sushi is good quality. My favorite is the 007 roll. Lots of mayo sauce on top.

Just found this place for inexpensive lunch pick ups. Free parking. Indoor dining available. Lunch specials are available 11-230 Monday thru Saturday. You can get a four piece Cali roll, 2 nigiri of salmon and 2 of tuna, a bit of salad and miso soup for $10.99. It won't fill you up and you'll still be hungry for a snack afterwards but it's a pretty good deal. There are cooked lunch options like beef or chicken teriyaki coupled with tuna roll etc. You can start a stamp card and on your tenth trip you get 20% off.

Dynamite Roll (8)with a hair in it

The food here has always been great but in this occasion had a bad experience. My dad had bit into the sushi roll and ended up pulling a super long hair and it's none of my family members. It was tucked into the roll. The place it and service is great overall. Just this was not a good experience.

First time here. I didn't realize this was a fast casual restaurant when we walked in. You order at the counter and pay, and when your food is ready they bring it to your table. You'll have to grab your own utensils and napkins. The food was ok. Definitely not amazing but the pricing was reasonable. My son loved the tempura shrimp. My burrito roll was tasty as well. Definitely worth trying if you are looking for stress free quick bite.

Salmon Roll. Inside: imitation crab & cucumber. On top: salmon. Really good. Rice is nice and sticky.

Sushi cravings have been strong the past few weeks! It might be the cold weather (yes, 60 degree weather is considered cold in SoCal), which sometimes triggers the oddest cravings such as ice cream... and sushi. If someone could come up with sushi ice cream, it would satisfy both cravings (two birds, one stone). THE FOODS | Japanese cuisine ranging from sushi, speciality rolls, noodles, bento combos, salads, rice bowls, etc. I ate... - 007 Roll | Inside: crab meat, baked salmon, and avocado. On top: seared albacore and baked lobster. Sadly, this is not what was delivered to me. Instead, I received a salmon cut roll, which is almost the same (not). I will say that the salmon was fresh with a soft chewy consistency. - Dynamite Roll | Inside: California roll. On top: baked scallop, crabmeat, and shrimp. Baked scallops were small, but had that distinct oceanic, buttery flavor. Shrimp was sparse and itty bitty, so I can't really say how it tasted. The spicy mayo and eel sauce were both great. Overall, the components of a dynamite roll were there, but I wanted to see more scallops and shrimp on top. Maybe I'll come back and order the 007 Roll so I can update this review, but for now, it's 3 stars. THE ORDERING LOGISTICS | Ordered through DoorDash and had it delivered.

what a great spot! I wish I lived closer, but I'm super happy I stopped in on a Wednesday, late afternoon. I was the only seated customer, but they had a good pace of takeout orders, most seemed to be regulars... Having had their 007 Roll today, I can see why! I was very impressed with the quality, speed, and presentation... Can we ask for a roll as a spicy version? If so, I think that would be wonderful, but I don't want to intend any disrespect the chef's choices. Service was courteous and prompt, dining area and restroom clean, parking was easy, and overall a great vibe.

Just had the spicy ramen for the first time, ordered it to go... soooo good! Get my son salmon rolls and miso soup here regularly and he enjoys both. :)

Amazing ambiance, rich & savory duck ramen !…read more Yakamoz is conveniently located in Stonecreek Plaza amongst a variety of other restaurants. At a glance, the establishment is unassuming but upon entry, you can immediately identify why this ramen shop differentiates from the rest. One of the biggest highlights of this place is the cozy, home-like ambiance. There are intricate details throughout the entire interior which show the amount of care and consideration put into elevating the experience. Donned with art along the walls and a classic turn-table playing classical music, I felt like I was dining in a makeshift dining room. Aside from the ambiance, the food was also stellar. I got the highly recommend best-seller item here, the duck ramen, and it definitely lived up to expectations. The broth was rich and savory yet not overwhelmingly heavy. The duck was cooked to perfection, nice and tender without being tough to chew. The noodles had a nice texture to them, indicative of fresh hand-pulled labor. Service here was also excellent. The wait staff came by constantly to check up and refilled water without having to call for it. Overall, I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone looking to get some amazing duck ramen in a nice, cozy environment!

Parking was pretty easy to find and we were quickly sat. The inside is decorated so nicely, gives off a very European vibe. We immediately knew what we wanted which was the Signature Duck Ramen. We also ordered the Karaage (small) to share. The ramen come with duck breast, shrimp and scallop wonton, a quail egg and some other toppings. The broth was so aromatic and the duck breast was super tender. The Karaage was also super crispy, the outside fry was very light and it didn't feel oily at all. The portions were huge and we were stuffed at the end of the meal. There are so many other item that we wanted to try so we'll have to come back in the future! Will definitely be back!

We tried to come here last year, and the line was so long that we ended up eating elsewhere. We found out today that you can get yourself added to the waitlist on their website. Will have to do that next time for coming at peak dinner time. Emily was a server, she brought our drinks out right away. We already knew what we wanted, so we ordered. It was pretty crowded inside, but our food came out pretty quickly. The ramen came out first, and then the chicken. My daughter and I shared the Tonkotsu Ramen ($19.40) and a crispy chicken ($1.90). The ramen was absolutely delicious. Deep flavorful and rich broth with lots of veggies and 2 huge slices of pork belly and expertly cooked jammy egg. You have the option of choosing thin noodles over the default, thick noodles. We went with a thick noodles and it was perfectly cooked. I'd highly recommend the Tonkatsu Ramen! They automatically tack on 17% service charge. Contactless payment at the table. It's super easy. The only negative thing about a space is that it's very loud. Would be nice if they modified the wall to somehow absorb some of the noise. Can't wait to come back here again!

LOCATION: Northwood Town Center, Irvine Blvd/Yale…read more PARKING: Lots WHAT WE ORDERED: * Curry Tonkatsu ($17.95) * Cheese Tonkatsu ($16.95) I'm way overdue for this review! I first tried Hako probably 2-3 years ago and finally made my way back recently. It definitely wasn't as busy back then as it is now. I arrived around 5:30 PM on a Friday, joined the waitlist, and was seated about 30-45 minutes later. The restaurant is quite small, so expect a wait during dinner, especially after 6:00 PM. Despite how busy it was, the service was efficient, and the food came out in a timely manner. The portions are hefty. Our meals came with pickled veggies, a side of rice, a generous portion of cabbage with Thousand Island dressing, and a bowl of warm miso soup. The curry tonkatsu is a classic staple, and I had absolutely no complaints. However, something about the cheese tonkatsu caught my eye, and I knew I had to try it. The cheese pull was phenomenal. The cheese wasn't too heavy and paired perfectly with the tonkatsu. The tonkatsu itself is a standout. It's perfectly crispy on the outside, warm and tender on the inside, and not at all oily. The entire meal was delicious and incredibly filling. Definitely a spot worth revisiting.

Hako has got to be one of the most popular spots in Irvine to grab a plate of katsu. And with a 4.5…read morestar rating and over 2K reviews, I wanted to see whether the place truly lives up to the hype. Friends have told me about how great the food is here, so the expectations were definitely high coming in. I came by around 7PM hoping to have dinner. But to my surprise, the wait was very long. So much so that the people were waiting over an hour to eat inside. Determined to have my fill, I decided to join that wait and was seated closer to 8PM. Now inside, the restaurant was loud and packed. With just about 13-14 tables, the turnover was infrequent and I could see why the place was so busy. Nonetheless, I decided to order their Chicken Katsu with California Rolls (4 pieces) which was $17.95 at the time of this review. The quantity at this place is no joke. The big tray came with a bowl of steamed rice, a bowl of miso soup, three different kinds of sauces, the four California rolls, and the plate of katsu with half shredded cabbage and eight pieces of chicken. And after having all of these items, I was definitely stuffed. Each piece of katsu was thick and had lots of meat inside. Because of this, the $17.95 combo was definitely worth it. Frugal diners might also enjoy the price without the combination at $14.95. Just remember if you choose to order this to go, the katsu items do not come with miso soup. The flavor of the food was overall pretty good, but there were some hiccups here and there. Starting with the rice, it was very fluffy and had a great amount of moisture to it. The miso soup had just the perfect amount of miso paste and the tofu and green onions inside helped maintain the savory broth base. The California rolls that came with it had mostly imitation crab inside. And with a good mayonnaise to meat ratio, they paired well with the avocado and tasted melty. So what went wrong? The katsu. Now by no means was the katsu bad. In fact, the moisture to breading ratio was spectacular. The big problem here was the katsu itself had no flavor to it. While there were a few different dipping sauces on the side, they didn't interact with the meat at all. Instead, the food tasted like the sauce with a crunchy texture. If there was just a tad more flavor either in the meat or in the panko breading, it would have been a perfect katsu. After this experience, I can see why so many people line up out the door for the katsu at Hako. But rather than it being for the taste, it is definitely more for the quantity of the katsu. For that reason, I'd give Hako a solid 4 star rating. Is it the best katsu you're ever going to have? No. Is it the most authentic katsu you're ever going to have? Also no. Is the restaurant on the overrated side? Potentially yes because of the very long wait time and the overall good, not great food. But for the quantity alone, it is a solid spot I would be open to trying again. Wondering for yourself? Get here early to secure a table, it can get VERY busy on weekends.

Once we walked in, we could just find a seat and order through the QR code menu. It was convenient since we could take our time looking through the options. We ordered: 1. Roasted Duck Noodle Soup $19.99 2. House Special Fish Fillet Noodle Soup $15.99 3. Pork Knuckle Noodle Soup $16.99 Everything tasted pretty good! I ordered the signature fish fillet noodle soup, which was one of their recommended dishes. My husband thought the fish soup had the best flavor among the three dishes we tried. The portions were just right, and the prices were very reasonable. For the noodles, I would recommend choosing udon or ramen. My husband and our friend chose rice noodles, but they became too soft and broke apart easily when picking them up with chopsticks. After dinner, we stopped by Frank's bistro Chinese cuisine next door to take a look. The interior is much more upscale, and they also use a QR code menu. Most dishes are around $20 and up. We chatted with one of the staff members, who mentioned that they opened in August last year and focus on authentic Cantonese and Hunan cuisine. He was also proud to share that their dishes are freshly prepared, not the typical pre-made food you might find elsewhere. Will definitely come back to try the dishes at Shang Shui Bistro next time.
