Dr. Ramos is truly the best in the game. I've always had a hard time connecting with doctors, but Dr. Ramos shines like no other. Throughout my pregnancy, she made every appointment special by doing an ultrasound every time, which was such a comforting touch. She's empathetic, funny, genuinely excited to see you, and her top priority is always you and your baby's health. During my labor, there was a moment of downtime when she had to step out for an emergency, and the nurses mentioned I might be heading toward a c-section. But when Dr. Ramos came back, she was confident, determined, and fully focused on getting my baby here safely & vaginally--and she delivered in every sense of the word. Postpartum, when I suspected I had mastitis, I called the office, and they got me in that same evening. Dr. Ramos made sure I had what I needed before it turned into something worse. Since moving back to Orange County, I still haven't found a doctor like her. She's one of a kind, and here I am writing a review a year later--but boy, does she deserve it! Jack says hi! read more

She delivered both of my children, and was an incredible doctor with me for both through pre and postnatal care. She went above and beyond during my first labor to step in and give me options to ensure I had a vaginal delivery which was so important to me. On a recommendation from a friend, I saw Andrea Strand the nurse practitioner at Dr. Ramos's office and she was amazing. She answered all my questions regarding perimenopause and talked me through all of the treatment options. She was warm and kind and made feel very comfortable. I highly recommend her. read more

I have been going to doctor Ramos for a while because there are very few gynecologists in the area with updated equipment. Each visit seems to lower the bar even more than the previous visit. The first difficulty is actually getting an appointment that isn't cancelled HOURS before you're supposed to arrive. Then when you arrive, you'll sit there between 30min to over an hour because she is running back and forth between the hospital and office. Once she's with you, she'll dismiss your concerns and forget information about your last visit (nothing seems to be well-documented). I've had ovarian cysts and she NEVER remembers what side they were on. On top of the terrible experience, you'll be billed multiple times for the same appointment even after your payment is processed. They have an online portal to pay bills but it never works. It has helped to keep every bill and credit card statement to call and set straight...but what patient should have to do this?! When I would call to settle a bill they acted like it was a huge annoyance and assumed I did something wrong. No empathy for a person who is also frustrated that my credit card was being charged but I kept getting billed. In general, the office staff are incredibly unhelpful and forget to do things you ask. I've had to email and call multiple times just to get records transferred. I'm happy I have found a better gynecologist. No one should have to deal with a place like this. read more

Hands down, the best OB I wish I could have stayed with! I started my pregnancy with her but had to change providers due to moving up north. With only a couple of appointments with Dr. Ramos, her care was far more superior to what I am getting now. When I initially saw her, I was dealing with a lot of nausea. She called in a prescription for me that lasted me until now and I am 32 weeks. I asked my new doctor if I could get another prescription and they wouldn't fill it due to excuses of I can get similar over the counter and insurance doesn't cover it. Well my insurance has covered this prescription every month. Not like I'm asking for narcotics here. I took a leap of faith and called Dr. Ramos' office and she was more than happy to help me in my home stretch of pregnancy and nausea. I am beyond grateful for her and wish so much she was delivering my baby. If you have the opportunity to be her patient, you're in amazing hands and her staff is great! read more

I liked my appointment with the PA, great quality care, but the lack of follow up and follow through = hugely frustrating. I called and left multiple messages with the receptionist, and was told they'd call me very soon to talk about what my next steps should be .. Nobody ever called back. I finally decided to go elsewhere, even if it is more expensive, with a "boutique" payment situation. I am very happy now that I am actually receiving answers to the urgent health-care questions I have. read more

I saw Dr Ramos for my first pregnancy and delivery in 2014. Her bedside manner leaves something to be desired. She seemed very dismissive of questions I had. I know she's a very busy doctor but I didn't appreciate it. I was induced five weeks early due to low fluid and barely saw her my whole labor and she did not come back and see me after I delivered my son. I saw her at my six week checkup and that was all. I felt like I was just a patient file, and not someone who mattered to her. I did not choose to use her again for my second pregnancy. Front desk staff and nurses are great. Billing department seems very disorganized because my son is five next week and they are saying I still owe them but they didn't realise until last year. How can you not keep track of a service performed in 2014? read more

Dr Ramos delivered my first baby five years ago. Till this day, the horror and shame from the delivery day haunts me so bad. She was on call for the day. 5 mins into the labour, she asked me why I don't know how to give birth. She asked me if i took lamaze class, i said no, my Dr. never mentioned it. Then, she sighed, asked the nurse to educate me. There I was, with 10 cm opening, with 7 people including the baby nurses staring at my opening, i started crying like a helpless baby because she was so rude and cruel. I was at my most vulnerable position and there she was, shaming me. Later on, she told me that I gave her a hard time because I didn't know how to give birth. Giving birth to your precious child has to be a meaningful and amazing memory. Thanks to Dr Ramos, it is the most embarrassing, horrifying, and traumatizing memory i have. I advise against choosing Dr Ramos as your Obgyn. If she ever walks into your delivery room as on call, you better hope you know how to give birth even if it is your first. From spending 5 min with her, it shows that she does not like her job, fed up, and does not pay attention to patients' needs. I want to tell her that maybe it's time she takes some break. Her lack of care is causing more damage to patients than good. She should re think about ethics and morals in practice. read more

Dr. Ramos made having a family possible for us! I struggled with fertility and she was so supportive and thorough in finding the problem. She removed a fibroid from my uterus and in no time I was pregnant. During my pregnancy she kept a close eye on me, pulled me from work a couple times during flu season to rest and gave me thorough top of the line medical care. She's call to check on me! It meant a lot after having two miscarriages to have a doctor going above and beyond to take care of me and our baby. Delighted to say she delivered my baby girl April 7 of this year. I had a HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE with the birth of my first son with her. I was supposed to have an out of hospital birth with the SB midwives which went terribly awry. I got Dr Ramos as the on-call when I made it to the hospital. It took her 4 hours to show up and when she finally did she was so rude and cruel she made me cry at our first meeting and treated me like numbers on a chart and not a woman two weeks overdue in terrible pain. It got worse. After having me on pitocin without the offer of an epidural for 8+ hours I was wheeled in for a c-section. I saw her only once briefly over the next 3 days at the hospital. After I got home I realized my incision was leaking - a lot- and per her instructions I did not go to the er because she said they would "rip me open again" so I waited for her to fit me in 5 days later. Then a series of infections followed. She treated me more like a pain in the ass than a new mother navigating terrible complications with no end in sight. About 7 weeks after my cesarean, with my only instructions from her being to lay flat, naked as much as possible and blow my incision with a hair dryer (I'm not kidding) I called my insurance pleading with them that this was not normal. They suggested I get a referral to either a general surgeon or a wound care clinic. Wound care was in shock that she was not packing or dressing the wound with anything. I was finally able to leave the house and feel relatively normal for the first time in 2 months. I healed up pretty quickly after switching away from her. I'd also like to mention she has zero bedside manor. Last time I saw her she looked at me and said "there's no crying in baseball". It literally looked like it pained her to smile and she was cold, rude and her course treatment was sub-par at best. Do not walk BUT RUN in the other direction!! read more

Where to start? Dr. Ramos is truly an amazing person and an excellent physician. My husband and I learned we were pregnant with high-risk twins (mono/di) and were originally seeing another popular OB in town. We ended up switching to Dr Ramos at 9 weeks pregnant due to never actually being seen by the other OB after going for weekly ultrasounds for over a month. Dr. Ramos & her staff took on our case without hesitancy. Her staff is flawless & so friendly. Dr. Ramos was able to diagnose the type of twins we were having immediately & was able to appropriately refer us to the high-risk doctor in town as well. Needless to say, the pregnancy was not easy & Dr. Ramos always took her time to explain what was going on and provide emotional support when I was put on bedrest very early. We were able to have a vaginal birth at 34 weeks exactly - both twins born only 5 minutes apart with no complications. Dr. Ramos is an absolute pro & I trust her 100%. We now have two beautiful baby girls. I'm a RN myself & recommend her & her staff to everyone. She will always hold a special place in our family's hearts. read more

She always answered all and any questions I had, she's very patient and kind, never made our appointments feel rushed, and always made time and an effort to squeeze me into her busy schedule (given my history of high risk pregnancy). Will try to keep this review short. Protocols that should have been followed at the hospital (post c-section complications with bladder) were not followed. When I had an infection from c-section, biopsy was not sent out until my husband requested it to be sent out. Would NOT recommend Dr. Ramos for a C-section. read more

After having a miscarriage and getting the treatment I got, I would hope that this message will prevent other women from going through the same experience I did! After finding out I was pregnant my second time, I decided to call Doctor Ramos....given the fact that my first pregnancy went so well with her. Once we arrived to our first appointment I found out that she is no longer accepting HMO only PPO, which the front desk failed to notify me when I called to make my appointment. When I called I was clear with the type of insurance I had. One of the nurses pulled me inside a room and said that doctor Ramos wasn't going to see me if I didn't pay upfront the $500 for the first visit. Her exact words are still something that bothers me to this day "It's her time and her equipment and she is not going to take payments for your visit" that was just rude and unprofessional. What I should have done was walk out and find a different doctor. Well after making the cash payment of $500, doctor Ramos finally shows up and starts to check me. She looks at me and says sorry honey there's no baby. She gave me a few reasons why women have miscarriages and left the room. Being that it was my first miscarriage I had no idea what to expect.. she said, lets give it a few days and hopefully it will come out on it's own. After 8 days I called her back and told her nothing was happening. She said she would be sending my medication to be picked up at my pharmacy and to NOT follow the directions on it. She recommended to take 2 pills every 8hrs, I must say this was the worst experience ever. I was in full labor pain for 14 hours straight no pain medication or any real guidance on what to do next. After having the miscarriage I called her to make my follow up appointment. At this point the front desk never mentioned to have someone drive me there, so I drove myself to her office. After checking me twice the pain was unbearable and I fainted not once but twice. She was telling me that I should have gone to the ER instead of dealing with the 14 hours of labor painwell let me see here given that it was my first time having a miscarriage there's no way I would have known this was going to happen! She proceeded to clean me and then comes up to me and says "You will be ready to get pregnant again in 3months". She then says to me I'll have one of the nurses come in and give you an injection to help with the pain at this point I could not believe the type of treatment I was getting. This meant she could have prevented me from having more pain yet she decided to do the procedure without any pain medication. Not only was I in so much pain but I was put in so much danger, they let me get into my car when I could have been in a serious car accident if I fainted again. This is what I call negligence by doctor Ramos and her staff. Letting any patient drive after fainting twice tells you a lot about this place. I will NEVER go back to doctor Ramos again. I found an amazing doctor right across from them and this doctor treats you like family. Be careful who you allow to take care of you and your baby, she is careless and is way too cold to be treating any expecting mother. read more

They have called me the morning of my appointment 3 times this year to cancel. Of course every time I have to reschedule, I have to schedule it 3 months out because her schedule is so busy. This is frustrating when I make plans to go to my appointment and schedule someone to cover me at work, only to find out the same day that they have to reschedule. Can they not give me any notice? Simple protocols (post csection with Dr. Ramos) were not followed for my daughter which caused lifelong consequences. In addition, she has had to deal with pelvic adhesions post csection and a uterine scar defect in her uterus which she is going to get fixed shortly with another specialist. The reason I write this review is that yesterday my daughter requested medical records and her staff continues to be unfriendly and rude. In fact, one hung up on her yesterday. This is not the way to treat anyone, especially a patient who has (for the past two years) had to deal with multiple issues from her csection with Dr. Ramos. I would suggest that if they even acknowledge this review, they call and apologize to my daughter beforehand. read more

Wish we never went to this office. First of all, it's doubtful you will ever meet Dr. Susanne Ramos for your annual woman's health check-up. Went there for several years and never met the woman. Unless you are having a baby, that is where the money is and that is where she is. I am not having babies so I am not worth her time. For this office, for annual check-up, you are not seeing any doctors. An "annual exam" if you can call it that, is provided by a qualified nurse practitioner focused on your boobys, a swab down there and packing you off for a mammogram. Dr. Ramos is behind the times for OB/GYN annual check-ups, not providing comprehensive care or even steering you to do that elsewhere. There are many OB/GYN that actually see patients for check-ups and provide a necessary woman's health comprehensive exam. If you are concerned about living to an old age (Calcium etc.) recommend that you find an actual Doctor who consults with you in person, and takes a few extra minutes to care about you living to an old age. read more

Bad communicator, and just too busy! my wife had many complications due to her practices. She wasn't in delivery room till last part of delivery then hurried the delivery up leading to complications that made my wife suffer for months. finally went to another obgyn that had to do a d&c to have some of the placenta removed (6 months later). Pre-birth just got bad advice that changed each time we went in. Friendly competent staff though. i think your better off seeing her Nurse practitioners that the doctor herself. read more

Dr. Ramos was my OB/GYN during my surprise twin pregnancy. I arrived at her office terrified. I wasn't planning to have any more children, I had a prior cesarean and abdominal surgery, and had just been told I was having identical monochorionic twins, which are higher risk. Dr. Ramos was immediately reassuring. When I asked about the NICU at cottage hospital, her response was "these babies aren't going to the NICU." It put me at ease immediately. Dr. Ramos was always concerned about and tuned into my well-being. She would walk into each visit and sense how I was doing immediately. She was the only doctor in town who would entertain the idea of letting my VBAC with twins, and was supportive of a transfer plan to UCLA should that happen. Ultimately I did need another cesarean delivery due to the breech presentation of Twin A. My babies were healthy and my cesarean experience was light years better than my first. When I experienced anemia and healing issues that are not uncharacteristic of a twin gestation and second cesarean delivery, Dr. Ramos personally met me at her office on multiple occasions over the weekend and during holidays just to check on me. I work in healthcare and will say unequivocally that her dedication to her patients is unparalleled. If you are looking for an OB in Santa Barbara, I really can't recommend Dr. Ramos any more highly. read more
