I came to Gary earlier this year to get help with multiple symptoms (acne, bloating, anxiety) that…read moreI perceived were all linked to my gut health. I filled out paperwork beforehand and the first meeting with him was completely free. Afterwards, I did have to make the decision to pay for a specific plan in order to move forward, however I feel as though it was not overly expensive for the services and advice he was able to provide me. For my specific experience, I had to take a blood test as well as a stool test which were not included in the plan, but I felt were necessary to get the most targeted help. Through the process, Gary really helped me get a better perspective on the inner workings of my body and made me realize how much of my own health was in my control. Overall, I have become more confident and happy. I actually recently moved out of the state and it has been almost 3 months since I stopped seeing Gary in office. Due to changes in environment and just not as strict dieting, I felt as though I had a relapse in some of my issues. I reached out to Gary and he was more than happy to provide me with advice as well as a plan and supplements to get back in control of my body. He is very proactive and always looking out for his patients, I would definitely recommend him to anyone!

Almost a year ago, my daughter fainted at school and was later diagnosed with a genetic heart…read morecondition. It was terrifying. The hardest part was hearing that her only options were lifelong medication (with some scary side effects) and just "waiting" to see if she had another breakthrough episode while on the medication. If she did, the next step would likely be surgery to implant an ICD. That breakthrough could mean another fainting episode or worse, cardiac arrest. When I asked the cardiologist how to support her health or help prevent future episodes, there were no answers beyond medication or surgery. Ann Arbor Holistic Health gave me something conventional medicine didn't -HOPE and a plan of action. Hope that my daughter can live a full, healthy life and that there are ways to support her whole body, not just wait and see. As a parent, the idea of simply "waiting" felt impossible. I couldn't bear the thought of doing nothing and later wondering if I could've done more to protect her. I also know that the body is designed to heal, we just needed the right guidance to identify what was getting in the way and remove that interference. First, through testing, we finally found answers. We focused on healing her gut, supporting her thyroid, and improving her detox pathways. All the work they guided us through gave her body the space to reset and function better. The difference has been incredible. She's no longer constipated, her emotions are steadier, she winds down for bed much easier, and even smaller things like her body odor has improved. I'm so grateful for Ann Arbor Holistic Health! The time they spent with us has truly set my daughter up for lifelong wellness and they'll continue to be our guiding light for our family's health.

I have to agree that this is a ROCKIN alternative medicine store…read more They not only carry nearly everything you could want or need for natural healing, but they are also very informed and helpful. Great Essential oil selection. You can buy it by the bottle or by the drop. (a little goes a long way) Lots of homeopathics. LOTS! They had tons of supplies for midwives and doulas. Plenty of kids stuff too. I'm so glad I found this little gem. BTW...It's tucked in DEEP off the road. I passed it twice but they talked me in on the phone.

They have breast pumps and comfortable breastfeeding bras, holistic supplies, and books. They also offer classes such as Vegetarian and Pregnant, Baby Sign Language, Infant Massage, Vaginal Birth After Cesaerian, and many more. They are very supportive of mothers who will homebirth or who have homebirthed babies. I feel it is important to say this because I think sometimes there is a stigma attached to women who choose natural childbirth at home. I especially love their breastfeeding room where they have a breastfeeding group that meets regularly. Everyone who works there is incredibly helpful, especially Beth. I was concerned about post partum depression, and she took me aside and helped me with finding resources. She spent a lot of time one on one with me so I could talk about my concerns. One cool thing is that Beth helped formulate a holistic remedy just for me. It helps calm me if I am feeling panicky. Whether it is a placebo or not, all I know is that it works!

My partner and I were looking for something very specific when finding a pediatrician for our son…read more My partner actually made a bulleted list of qualifications that the doctor had to have to even be considered. He he printed out that list and brought it with us to the offices -- I thought it would be embarrassed by it, but now I know it showed we meant business! We wanted to find someone who would consult with us and respect our decisions on vaccinations and antibiotics. We wanted to veer on the homeopathic side of care whenever possible. We wanted someone who respected the fact that our son was born at home with a midwife. It was hard to find all of this in a pediatrician, but in a family doctor, Dr. Scheerer was the It man. Dr. Scheerer is accomodating, I don't feel like a sardine in a tin can in his waiting room, he sits with you and really listens to your concerns. He knows his holistics but is also affiliated with St. Joe's, so you get the best of both worlds. He supports breastfeeding. He looks like he was in a rock band once, but has pictures of his family on a slideshow screensaver. Also, since he's a family doctor, he can take care of the whole fam. He sees babies every day, so we felt comfortable to have our son under his care. His staff remembers us and it really feels a lot more inviting than any other doctor I've been to. If you really like flourescent lights, a hospital setting, and a sterile-feeling environment, then he probably isn't for you. His office is in this awesome gigantic purple house near Planned Parenthood.

He is thoughtful, thorough and engaging. His standard of care is among the best I have ever experienced in any of a variety of medical settings. His clinical experience puts him over there bar of excellence as a practitioner. His knowledge of herbs and nutrition is beyond the PhD nutritionists that I know and his process for reversing chronic disease is legit. He lowered my hypertension and triglycerides - confirmed by my annual bloodwork, stopped the symptoms of my autoimmune disease, and improved how I feel. If you are 'looking for another doctor' or looking down the alternative pathway, please heed my opinion in this review and go to Dr. Schmitt. He knows the mechanism that is causing your pain and he genuinely cares about your health. Thank you.

I knew I had a complex situation, but regular doctors have missed diagnoses and poisoned me with…read moredrugs. So I continually try to find alternative help. The initial email I received sounded promising but the help stopped there. My initial practitioner was Amanda. Frankly, she was not very bright. She made no queries as to what I was already taking, went entirely on the results of the blood test they did, basically treating the test results instead of me. As is the norm in allopathic medicine, the entire reason why I sought a different kind of help. She even wrote down the opposite of something I said, which was that the lactate form of magnesium I was taking appeared to be CAUSING my RLS, because when I started on a different form it was obvious what the connection was. But -- that was either not understood at all or was simply ignored, because what she wrote down was that it was helping. !!!!! How can you treat someone when you can't even get a simple report like this recorded correctly? Even though I had no improvement in symptoms and actually continued to decline, I just got the "same old same old" every session, with more and more being added based on my "progression" through the clipboard of "this is what you do for this test result." Balderdash, blah-blah, no IQ evident, just rules following. What about what I was already taking? Why was that not investigated for efficacy or negative effects? 35 pills a day already, and we ignore that? I was referred to Dr Schmidt himself, who also did absolutely nothing to help -- kept testing this and that supplement remotely, nopity-nope-nope. I decided to eat the $200 "exit fee" because it was cheaper than continuing to pay for something that CLEARLY was focused on a program that operates on what test results are for that "most wonderful test" that they use as a baseline. Don't bother wasting your money.
