I found SPS and decided to pursue my dream of becoming a surrogate; sadly a last minute change in my housing left me homeless and my only reasonable solution left me living in a hotel with my two young daughters. I delivered healthy twins (naturally) in the presence of an extremely unpleasant physician who pushed for a VERY UNNECESSARY CSECTION and stated I was "stuck with her" after I tried advocating for myself by requesting my perinatologist/a different dr to deliver. She broke my water, called for anesthesiologist and tried to bully me into having surgery against my will. Despite my twin "high risk pregnancy" and very sudden unresolved change in living arrangements, the director (having flown to Hawaii) and my case manager (who left her phone at home so she wouldn't be disturbed) we're both unavailable at the time of delivery. I ended up delivering alone in an OR full of nurses who treated me like I was diseased. As my body brought two beautiful lives into this world my questions and concerns fell on deaf ears and when I asked how the babies were doing, no one answered because they knew I was a surrogate and questioned "how much I was supposed to know". Unfortunately, postpartum wasn't any better. I was shut away in a tiny room and despite several requests the delivering physician refused to release me medically, which kept me from my daughters. My requests to visit the nursery were also denied, I pumped over 100oz of liquid gold in 5days before my husband and our family relocated out of state, and now almost 5yrs later all lines of communication have remained painfully silent. In the beginning of my journey I had been reassured by the director personally that SPS is very thorough and careful throughout the entire process and that "everything would be taken care of", sadly that promise was not kept. read more
