My HOA sent the company out to do a quote for repairs to wood in my condo after water and termite damage because they were doing work outside of the complex. The way David communicated to me was condescending and rude. He 'mansplained' what an air duct was to me and why there was 'duct' tape on the air duct when it was clearly shoddy work that needed repaired. He didn't submit an estimate for the work (which really wasn't "handyman work") and he wouldn't have earned my business even if he did as a result of his subpar professionalism and what came across to me as lack of knowledge and a dash of misogynism. I was looking to mount my guitars on the wall and looked up a few ideas and decided that I wanted a wooden background to mount to. I sent a picture of what I was looking for to Dave and he immediately scheduled a time to come and see the space where I planned to mount it. He came over, offered a few ideas of his own and made some recommendations. He sent me a quote the same day which was competitive to another estimate I received. Once the holidays passed, I contacted Dave to get it started. He wanted to come visit again just to be sure we were on the same page and a few days later the wall was ready. David arrived early. He fixed the broken base of the kitchen cabinet quickly and efficiently. One of the kitchen drawers was broken. He said he needed to take it back to fix and returned it when it was done. And he charged only $25! Wow, I can't find anyone doing such a good job and charging so reasonable. They replaced a windowsill for us; did a beautiful job. Also had them paint some baseboard, which was a touch sloppy. I had to touch up the wall paint where it ran over. Wouldn't recommend them for painting (hire a painter!), but the rest of the job was perfect. read more

Tried to describe over the phone and he said, nup nup bup bup bup. He wanted to see, assess and then advise. Come to find out, this is how he does everything. What can I say about these men??!! They saved me during our recent Santa Ana winds several weeks ago. I was at my desk, working from home, preparing to be on vacation out of the country the next day, when I heard a weird noise from back door. Got up to investigate, and my back neighbors two dogs were trying to push into my house through baby gate I have up in front of the screen door. My back fence had been blown down by the winds and the dogs decided to come explore! So crazy me, I called several fence companies to come repair it, but they only install fences and don't repair! Surrogate Husbands is great.. I called them to do a number of repairs around my newly bought house because I wanted to have someone close by ( IB) andf the really funny name. David and his crew were the best.. Even though some of work turned out to be much more complicated ... its a 70s house with a lot of obviously half baked lick and a promise owner-done remodeling, he stuck by his estimate despite the extra work involved and it all looks great.. Floors had layers of really scary flooring now beautiful tile.. toilets don't leak , doors and screens and pet doors all work like they were supposed to... Very happy.. Highly recommend read more

A few years ago, I called David to help me fix a raised and sharp edge of the metal threshold between carpet and tile on my rental condo. Within an hour David stopped by. He replaced the old metal with a new aluminum strip. The job was well done. It looks great and fits perfectly. I thought that was a fast turn around and good service that David did but I didn't write a Yelp review for him since I only write when the service/work quality/price are either excellent or sub-standard. I am getting to the point now...I called David again last week to give me an estimate for patching up a big stucco hole left by plumbing job. Again, David came by within few hours as he promised. He gave me a reasonable estimate. And while waiting for the insurance to approve, I read the weather forecast it would be rain the next day so I called David again to see what he charges for putting up a temporary cover to avoid rain water leaking in. David said he would do it for free since I am his customer and he makes a point to take good care of all his customers.
