The "Yoga Hour" classes are exactly that: just an hour long. They are mixed level and only $6 to attend (cash only). The class I took was at 7:30am and while it wasn't the most challenging of classes, it was a great way to start my day. It was missing music... I'm not sure if Bhava plays music in the other classes or not. Also, to note: appears that in a couple of weeks, this class will be taught by Joe and not Michael. The studio itself is clean, colorful, and inviting. They also have plenty of mats for those that don't bring their own, and props as well. The schedule of classes has some variety with yoga hour classes throughout, as well as some intermediate, fundamentals, and workshops too. I'd definitely return on a future visit to Albuquerque to practice at Bhava.

My flexibility has always been lacking, especially with a desk job that keeps me seated for over 8 hours a day. Plus, they offer great pricing and an easy online portal for class registration and payment. Love how convenient it is! The space was clean and inviting and the warmth and friendliness of the people in the class truly make it feel like a community, a refreshing change from the usual class experience. This studio caters to all abilities and levels. I discovered this studio during a period of deep grief and it single hand-idly got me through the darkest days and allowed me to have a release of my emotion that I would keep in all day. This studio is not about being the most flexible or mastering difficult poses; it's about finding the teacher within and exploring your personal growth and connecting with like-minded people. Spiritual egos are left at the door at this studio, and that is a rare find. I choose to drive 20 minutes to this studio, even though I have others within walking distance of my apartment. Going this studio has helped me honor my mind, body, and soul.

But if you can make it to any of Avery's classes, at any of the studios she teaches at, GO! She is more highly trained than most of the yoga instructors you will ever have -- a CIYT, Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher. That's a BIG deal! It doesn't matter how flexible you are (or not). Avery uses props in every class (blankets, blocks, straps, bolsters, folding chairs, sometimes sandbags) so that every pose is accessible to every student, and with proper alignment. During class she demo's every pose first, then guides you along with specific instructions - always with humor - so you can lengthen and strengthen deeper than you thought possible. Even after many yoga classes over the years, with different teachers, I often have "a-Ha" moments in Avery's classes where I (for once) "get" more subtle aspects of the pose that have eluded me, until now. If you want to take your yoga to a new level, then try Avery's classes!
