I have purchased 3 guns from Surplus City this year, and each transaction has been great. Granted, each time I knew exactly what I wanted so I didn't do much shopping, but I'm just not feeling where these negative reviews are coming from. The staff at SCG are all super friendly. In my times there I've seen them dealing with seasoned veterans to utter newbies, each with the same level of respect. This shop gives off the vibe of a type of place you'd just like to go and hang out. A really cool place. It is a smaller shop, so definitely call ahead if you are looking for something specific. Despite being small, they must have some pull. While everyone was waiting on the M&P Shield 45 at other stores, SCG had a few of them in stock. Call these guys, and see if they have what you are looking for. As for prices, they aren't going to beat the high volume spot in Jamison. They just don't do that volume. The prices on all three of the guns I bought there were right at that "fair price" mark. All about 5-10% below the MSRP you'll find on the manufacturers site. They have a great selection of used firearms as well. Both long guns and handguns. They do a lot of PD trade ins as well. Follow their Facebook page for their latest deals. Warning: These guys are shady and will rip you off if you let them. About 6 months ago I sold this shop several used long guns that I acquired from a relative. Granted I didn't do my research but came to find out that the guns were worth much much more than what they gave me. It's obvious they knew the real value but took advantage of the situation. I'll never buy or sell with them again. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else that deals honestly and fairly. Ive never had an issue at Surplus City. Im an African American and Ive dealt with them for years. Ive sent many guys to them who happen to be the same race as I. They have held guns for me until I got to them to purchase. I bought a used Sig 229 from them which which was in amazing condition and its my favorite carry gun. My only problem is that its a little far for me but now that i travel out that way for the shooting range i belong to, its now a breeze so i will be visiting them actually today lol. I stopped by Surplus City on the way to the Classic Pistol indoor shooting range, which is only a few minutes away. I just wanted to browse around and see what is new. I am a "Gunaholic." Would you believe that I spent $1,000 ? I did. I belong to a indoor shooting range in Bristol, Pa., where I have been going for a few years now. The only problem was that you can't shoot any rifle ammo due to the fact that the steel backstops won't handle anything over 2,000 FPS. I decided to step up and buy some more powerful rifles, since I just joined the Classic Pistol range, where you can shoot ANYTHING. The staff is very knowledgeable and they very often get in different types of guns. I purchased a used Ruger PC40 carbine & a Ruger Mini-14 ranch carbine. Great place to buy a gun! May not have the biggest selection but they are definitely priced better than any competitors in a 20 mile radius. Also they charge you only 5 dollars for the background check while most charge 10-12 bucks. Excellent prices on glocks and very fair trade in values. I bought a S&W Model 36 .38 Special from here about 5 months ago in great condition and now there's rust up the entire one side. These guys must have painted over it just to rip me off. I have done business with this store for three years now. The first time i went there i told them a friend recommended them and my sales person was Charlie. He along with the others on staff were friendly and if Charlie could not answer a question he would point out someone who could. I like the owner he reminds me of the barber you could go to. Once you get to know him he is a pretty good person but they are tough on trade in prices but i bought two M59 SKS's and the wood was almost perfect the bluing was good and when i cleaned them all numbers for Yugo models matched. So as far as i am concerned i have had good experiences at their store. Sadly my buddie Charlie retired so i miss seeing his smiling face but i think Ernie can fill his shoes. Probably the best place in Lower Bucks County for surplus guns but selection pales in comparison to Sarco in Easton. Their regular modern guns are priced fair. Trade in value at this store is middle-low, they operate like a pawn shop in this regard. I usually choose another place to trade of I can help it. Staff can run hot and cold depending on who you get. I've gotten some great deals here especially during their black friday sales. On the other hand I've walked in with $1500 cash for an item, I was $4 or $5 short on the total and had to go hit an ATM because they wouldn't budge off of the price in that amount even for cash. Ammo prices are competitive to good. Not my favorite place around but I usually walk out happy more often than not. read more

I went to surplus city a few weeks ago to look at some AR's I was greeted by Robert, he was kind of dry-didnt seem real personable at first, I asked him if I can see some of the Colt AR's they had in stock-he showed me about three different models, he was very informative and not pushy at all, I suggested that it would be a few weeks before I make a purchase-he was very understanding and I realized when I was leaving that-like my business dealing with retail is a tough job and most people do not understand completely how some people can be rude-wether its on the selling side or the buying side of the counter, I have been to other local gun shops where there was a store associate that would not even look at me let alone try and help me, I think this is a fine place to do business. read more

I've been here several times for various different things. I first got recommended to them when I was looking for a Benelli M1S90(4+ years ago). They had several in stock and at a steal of a price. Their long gun prices rivals even some online dealers and gunbroker. I got my M1 on the low end of the average for M1s per gunbroker. I check in a couple times a year to see if there are any great deals since their long arms are always at great prices. The one downside of this place is its somewhat limited variety of firearms. My other go to gun store is Tanner's which has a great selection, but also a 45 minutes drive for me. I would say SC's prices are comparable to Tanner's in terms of their rifles/shotgun/used long guns. Surplus City is local and 15 minute drive. They tend to have a lot of used guns, which is what I prefer. Prices are cheaper and I forced to disassemble and clean the gun to learn about it. Again, their prices rival even some auction sites. They typically have a lot of semi-autos including ARs, AKs, and I always see a couple of HK G3/93s. Today, I stopped in and saw a bunch of PSRs and AK variants. Bolt action rifles and shotguns were filling about half of their racks so they seem to be running a bit low on use gun stock. Their ammo prices are also comparable to most online retailers. Over the past year I've purchased multiple cases (1k rounds) from them because they were the ONLY store to carry any reasonable amount of ammo with no limits. I just bought a case of 9mm at a great price when other stores are still imposing box limits for 9mm, if they even have it at all. Same with 5.56 I bought last year during the Gun scare of 13'. When other stores didn't have any ammo or imposing 2-3 box limits, SC was able to get a large quantity of cases of popular calibers with no crazy mark ups like other dealers (ie Clayton's who marked up prices during the scare) Tanner's and SC both kept reasonable prices on ammo and guns. With comments about the rudeness about he staff, I never had issues. I also go into a gun store and know what I am looking for. I do my research at home and walk in a store with knowledge. I go in and usually browse around a little bit, then go straight to the item I was seeking and head to the register. All potential gun buyers should do research outside of a store anyways. Remember they are a store that only make money when they sell something. Not to say that SC would do anything like that, but it is a business. There are some uneducated dealers out there, so this should be common practice for any big ticket items you buy regardless of where you go to buy. They are not a store where you go in and start asking a bunch of questions. I am sure they get a lot of these kinds of people and the person asking questions doesn't end up buying anything would frustrate me too. They don't welcome you with open arms into the store and I feel they shouldn't have too. You should be mature enough to not need them to cuddle you through your purchase. I am adult enough, if I need help, I will ask. I don't need them to approach me first. With comments about race, completely uncalled for. I am of 100% Asian descent and I have never had an issue. I am 28 y/o, but I look like I am probably 16 y/o. I still get treated with respect when I walk in that store. I walk in, get my stuff, and leave. I might strike up some small talk and the sales people will with talk to you. I even get a smile and thank you after my purchases. So the negative comments about rudeness and race I assume its because the purchasers did not do their research going into the store and don't strike up conversation with the sale people behind the counter and blaming it on the staff. So in summary, they are a great store with great prices, but limit variety and stock. They primarily carry a lot of new modern sporting rifles, AKs, ARs etc., which they usually have a decent stock (call them before going). Great prices on used long guns. Just walk in with knowledge and a friendly attitude and they will warm up to you as well. Just don't walk in expecting them to be waiting on you hand and foot. read more

Really cheap grade ammo. these guys are a bit rude and coarse however i would disagree with the guy above about they ripping people off. i purchased a used ruger D-90 a while back and they helped me to get a metal guide rod to replace the plastic stock rod that came with my p239..finally when i was thinking hard about selling my sig to get something else they were honest enought to advise me against it saying "guys don't sell Sigs, we would laugh at you after you left the store" i call that honest...maybe u persisted with the sale...and to the first guy i'm a big black guy with dred locks so i definitely did not get any white skin priveledge. read more
