The 1 lb Lobster was slightly overcooked, but the flavor was good, duck fat fries great, and the oyster & waffles were a welcomed addition the meal. The live jazz was an unexpected treat! While the food, cocktails, & staff were great the desserts were awful by Dutch & American standards. Surprised there were no beignets on the menu. Especially considering the pecan pie was not good. Put that $7 to better use and get an after dinner cocktail!

Getting here is an easy walk from the train station, but I was running late so took the bus and that was super quick too as there were 3 buses with a stop near to this restaurant. Our server was great - he made me an off the menu cocktail when I told him the flavor profile of what I like to drink. Food wise, I ended up getting the Gumbo (cause when in Louisiana, right!?) while two of my dining companions got the ribs (I was eyeing this too) and a burger rounded up the last person on our table. We also got chips and that came in a sharing bowl rather than individual serving portions which was a bit weird. My gumbo was really delicious but it only came with two pieces of shrimp! Admittedly they were big shrimp, but I still would have liked some more. Lots of chicken and then a decent amount of sausage rounded up the gumbo. I also had a taste of the ribs and those were bone meltingly tender with a fabulous sweet and tangy glaze. Both the boys gobbled their plates up. We were pretty full up after that meal, so didn't get any dessert and to be honest, none of the very Americana dessert menu items appealed to us. Another time I might order a milkshake tho' cause those flavors looked interesting. Cost wise, between the 4 of us (and we all ordered drinks) the total was €114 (rounded up) so just under €30 per person, which is decent considering alcoholic drinks were involved and we all know the mark-up on those! Loved the loo signage - go check it out but OMG the actual stall size was super small and uncomfortable. The barstool seats on our high top table too were massively uncomfortable! I'd have stayed longer except for my bum protesting about the hardness of the seating. Lots of purple colored lights, to invoke that Mardi Gras mood I guess, and so all my photos have that tinge, however want to assure folks reading this review that no purple looking food was consumed on the night! So overall, it's a 4 star, but the food and service are a solid 5! Yelp 56/ 2019

"Soul food is from South America" "uhhh.... you mean South…read moreof America right" Ah, what a difference a single word makes... so they serve Southern style American comfort food. It isn't super authentic but the food is tasty and hits the spot. Stick with the typical Southern food choices and you'll be having a great meal! The dishes are small portion sized and made for sharing, so you may need to order 2-3 dishes per person. Food: 4/5 Their fried chicken, corn on the cob, and baked potato were very tasty, but sadly their gumbo and pumpkin risotto weren't so... So stick to classics and you won't go wrong. Their home made iced tea is super delicious and the perfect answer to a hot summer day. Service: 3/5 Typical Dutch service. We were seated outside and it was a bit hard to get the attention of our servers, especially when we wanted to pay. Atmosphere: 5/5 Their menus were made from cool vintage vinyl disks! Also the outside seating is right along a major bike path and you get to watch bicyclers whizzing by. Value: 3/5 The dishes are small and you have better control over how much you spend. For a moderate meal, about €25 per person.

I had bookmarked this place to come to dinner sometime, and last night was that time! Recommend…read morereservations, but once again, we just showed up, and the manager says we could sit at the bar, that's our favorite place to sit anyway, in the middle of the sction Definitely appreciated the vibe here--classic rock playing in the background, not too loudly. Staff were welcoming and jovial, joking with us from the beginning. . Very lively fun atmosphere here. Capable of seating a group of 4-6 around tables if needed, We started with a Negroni and a gin and tonic, both made with Jenever. Our food orders were based on other Yelp reviews praising the rubs here: We ordered a normal spare ribs (pork) classic dry rub (comes with salad and two sauces (similar to ranch and thousand island) and a normal mixed. We ordered a baked potato on the side to share, which comes with garlic butter. They also brought plain bread slices on the side. The pork ribs were both tender and flavorful. My husband liked the classic dry rub better than the smoked. The salad was crispy thanks to celery slices. The garlic butter on the baked potato was creamy, strong, and addictive.. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. When we left, we asked the mamager where the sister bar was located exactly and he directed us across the street to Cafe GDG.the adventure continues! Highly recommend!

A normal full bar and friendly quick service. Our steak was done as requested (med. rare) and very tasty. Got the classic ribs and were dry rubbed so it was tasty and tender- on the drier side with little fat. Would have loved bbq sauce on the side instead of the white garlic sauce and the Thousand Island sauce (weird) . Enjoyed the baked potato and chopped salad with a sweet vinaigrette. Plain French bread slices accompanied meals- no butter. Outside seating available. Friendly service.
