We just saw the H. M. S. Pinafore and we so well done. The singing was great. Truly enjoyed ourselves. We'll be back for more!

Pretty good acting for local theatre but the cost of the show was outrageous for "local theatre".

It is an older building, they have concession snacks & drinks u can bring into theatre. This pkay was general seating. Stage props or average. Actors are pretty good & funny. Grand prize was amazing 2 annual play passes, several $20 gift cards, & more. For a local play I enjoyed myself & would come back for another one. read more

It was a fantastic show! I would not be a likely candidate to go to such venues but my daughter wanted to go so I said what the heck. That was a life changing decision! If you pay big bucks to go to some comedy club an see one guy try to entertain you, forget about that. This is a fantastic play that had me absolutely rolling in the isles throughout. The actors were very very believeable (not unbelieveable). Absolutely a fantastic night of great entertainment. I am not in anyway associated with the playhouse so please don't take this as someone trying to pump the reviews up. You need to go! Be prepared to want to return because it is that awesome!! I recently saw the show "The Case of the Missing Corpse" at the Surfside Playhouse, and the experience interested me enough to write this review. While I did have a lot of fun, I still have some criticisms worth mentioning to help people decide whether they might want to see a show here. (Note: This is entirely based on my own opinion, some experiences may be different from mine). First things first, the plot itself, for the most part, was decent. It was a typical murder mystery which takes place at a funeral home. Act 1 introduced us to the two detective characters who have the audience help them solve the mystery, as well as the characters and their various motives through the format of a scripted play. When it is revealed that the elderly owners of the funeral home have been murdered, the audience is left with the possibility of the killer being almost anyone in the cast. Act 2 of the show was mainly dedicated to an improv interrogation in which the audience could directly ask each character some questions. Audience members would then vote on who they thought the killer was for a chance to receive a prize. The setting and the characters themselves were honestly not badly written. The setting and atmosphere was quite creative, and the characters were able to engage with each other in entertaining ways. There were even a few original musical numbers in the show that were actually really clever and funny. Also, the set, lighting and music was pretty good, considering that it is a smaller theatre. That being said, there were some plot holes and other elements that made it a bit confusing. For example, it was revealed that a blind woman named Fena Fox (whose character I did still enjoy watching on stage quite a lot) was the culprit. While she had been depicted for most of the show as being unable to navigate herself around without the help of her cohorts, she was still able to commit a double homicide with ease. In addition to this, there were so many red herrings that were all equally as plausible with each other, that it made it perhaps a little too difficult to pin down the culprit (but not impossible as evidently some people were able to guess right). The acting itself was a bit of a mixed bag. Before I begin, none of what I'm about to say is meant to be insulting or spiteful. I have a great amount of respect for the cast as a whole to pull off a show that was both scripted and improv, because that's already a hard thing to do. Also, some people happen to appreciate certain characters in shows when other people aren't able to. None of these actors were totally awful, but some of them definitely did do a better job than others. Now there was obviously so much talent in this show, and I look forward to seeing some of these people hopefully return in future shows. I already mentioned how I think Leslie Roth as Fena Fox gave an outstanding performance, and there were some other people in the show who deserve serious praise for how clearly talented they are. My personal favorites were Joel Shugars as Mr. Bills, who had hilarious comedic timing during the interrogation, and Jackson Hachmeister as Tim Smithy, who really pulled off a villainous yet funny character and who had some of the best singing I've ever heard in any show ever. Other characters who I enjoyed a lot were Virgil Moxley, Detective Paula Sanders, Mrs. Snoop, Laura Stevens, and Miranda Grieves. These characters all felt very lively and contributed a lot to the story being interesting. However, there were other characters, such as George and Sarah Moxley, Barry Stevens, Frankie Smalls, Hacker the Groupy, and Ali Pringle, who all seemed to struggle quite a bit in various ways, such as awkward line deliveries, blatant difficulties in remembering what to say next, lack of character, and I can't emphasize this enough: VOLUME. It was so hard to hear some of the dialogue, especially without microphones for the actors. All of the actors at least had the basic idea of onstage acting, but some of them came across as just so unremarkable, at least during the performance I saw. I think it's also worth mentioning the performance of Detective Dixon Hill. While the actor was good at putting on a specific character and interacting with the audience, during the improv parts he frequently seemed at a loss for words, even during mid-sentence, and would have these long drawn-out stammers that sort of threw him off. While he overall absolutely did know what he was doing, it gave off the impression that maybe he had not been 100 percent prepared. There was a lot about this show that I enjoyed, and I will be coming back to see more. But I wanted to give my honest criticisms to help people decide if the experience is for them, since the tickets are rather pricey. If you're looking for a high-end Broadway experience, then maybe this place isn't for you. But if you want a chill and laid-back evening with humor and charm, I would recommend the Surfside Playhouse! read more

Just saw On Golden Pond. We love to support local theater and have been to several shows here. The local talent is good, dedicated and the folks working the tickets and the refreshments and all are nice and engaging. Wish more people supported local arts but for now, the ticket price, great location, and dedicated local talent can't be beat. read more

Definitely the most run-down of the local theaters in Brevard County. Although they put on some really great shows, and they have a very talented improv troupe that plays there regularly, the location (inside) is needing some much needed updating. The seats are old, the waiting area is old, the walls are worn - they need some help with fundraising. Put some money in the "house" and it'll pay back dividends. You can't beat its location on the beach side. read more

First time in this theater, and we saw Spamalot, and we loved it. All of the characters and actors did a awesome job, and we can't wait to go back again. The seats were comfortable, the concession was good and you can see every scene and everyone from every seat. read more
