So I tried to go to this office for my six month checkup and cleaning. It's been difficult to find…read morea non-scammy dentist in west Florida so I've literally had to go to a different office every visit for the past two years. I've gone to the dentist 2-3 times per year for cleanings and checkups every year that I've had teeth. My oral hygiene and care habits are good. I know I'm human so maybe I might have a spot that may not have been cleaned as thoroughly as others and I'm getting older and I know teeth and gums naturally get weaker, but there is legitimately no reason that I would need major dental work. This place had the audacity to sit there and try to play in my face and say I needed several thousands of dollars worth of services for a deep cleaning. I am familiar with this scammy, unethical practice as it's common at corporate dental chains, particularly in southwest Florida. Only one other dental office has had the nerve to try to rip me off like that in my life, so I researched the topic and talked to a friend who is actually a dentist and a cousin who is a hygienist. Basically these offices want a profit and insurance covered routine service aren't lucrative enough for them. So I knew I'd be visiting family in Bogota, Colombia and I explained what had happened at a different office and said I'd be willing to get a deep cleaning if needed, since other countries aren't so shady with trying to scam people over healthcare. They said there was no way I would need to have a deep cleaning with the condition of my teeth. My husband however did need a deep cleaning, but it cost about $250 USD vs like $4,000. It is such a shame that our country is becoming such a mess that I would need to go to a "third world country" to get a better quality of care. And coincidentally, the hygienist in Colombia spoke more English than the one in Fort Myers (which I'm not putting that as a flaw because the lady was nice, but just comparing the services of two different countries).

I was hustled into x-rays, meeting the doctor, getting a marketing pitch and waited for almost an hour to see the hygienist. I waited, until I finally walked out to the reception area to see how much longer it would be. I was told to come back at 1:45 for the cleaning. NOT ACCEPTABLE AT ALL!!! I left at 12:00 noon. The office and the entire center is very clean and well kept. The individual at the front desk was extremely courteous and made me feel welcomed right away. The lady assistant introduced herself and told me she had worked for the doctor for 30 years. That in itself was impressive and gave me the feeling that this must be a pleasant atmosphere in which to be a part. She explained what they would be doing, step by step. She made me feel like family and set me at ease right away. The doctor then entered, introduced himself, and visited a moment before beginning the exam. The place was extremely upscale and all his staff was friendly and professional. Dr. Trettenero was very pleasant, friendly, and made me feel comfortable and at ease right away. He then asked the assistant to get the X-rays needed. This office was equipped with what seemed to be the most updated technology necessary for any situation. The X-ray machine was amazing, like nothing I had ever seen. It only took moments and we were done, back into the room for review. Dr. Trettenero sat with me, explaining what we saw on the monitor. There were 3-dimensional rotating views, and views showing layers of each upper and lower. And all turned out better than I imagined. No cavities, I just needed an adjustment to align my bite.
