Tom came out to do the inspection and estimate of our 22 year old bathtub which had several worn spots and wear. He was very kind and referred us to a plumber for drain work before the bathtub could be refinished. After the plumber completed their work, George came to refinish the bathtub and he did an excellent job. There was very little smell due to the bathroom fan and an open window. The tub looks beautiful with a nice non-slip surface. We were told not to use the tub for 48 hours so the work can cure, but we plan to wait at least a week to use the tub. Also, the price was much better than the competitors. This is a great company! read more

This company was hired to do warranty work for Aquatica for a bathtub that had patcch work done on the bottom that was obvious. Tom sold me a storm (as I see he did with other customers as well) and said he could make the tub look like new or at least 99% better. Not only does it look the same if not worse, the tech damaged the side of the tub while doing the repairs and attempted to patch his repair so now I have more damages on the tub that was not even there before Surface specialists came into the picture. It's nice to encounter companies who just take care of your problem. We recently purchased a deep soaking tub and received a bath pillow from the manufacturer. Within days we had a yellow stain in the shape of the pillow. Such a bummer! After communicating with the company who makes the tub & pillow they sent out these folks to check out our problem. Tom who has over 30 years of experience in this type of stuff showed up and within a few seconds knew what to do and said he'd have one of his guys out the very next day. Our tub was back to looking the way it should within a few mins of their work. Easy, simple, no BS. Here's a pro tip for all my Vegas neighbors. Our water is really bad. So bad that if you leave something like a pillow in your tub or anything else it'll likely stain your light/white surface. They did great work - no arguing that, but the office staff and their procedures instead killed my opinion of this company. All went well until I received a certified letter stating I owed them money for non-payment threatening legal action. What??! I pay my bills, I have no debt... Apparently they never took my card during the time they performed the services. Is that on me or them that they did not ask for payment? I had around 10 companies fix things on my home in a 2 week period and yet all the others took payment at the time of service. It's the lies that they told me about trying to collect my money that pissed me off. After I received the letter I called them first to verify they had my phone number correct. Yes, they did and confirmed. So I asked them, in the 4 months this bill was due why did no one simply pick up the phone and call me? "We did", was the reply. Did you leave a message?", I asked. "Yes". I didn't get into it with them on frequency, but if you are collecting a bill and the number goes through with me stating the correct name in the voicemail wouldn't you keep calling? I answer my phone and check my messages religiously. I have to my business depends on it. Instead they stated they tried placing a lien on the property and only found out where to send me a letter because I moved. Holy crap! You went trough that amount of effort, but you can't pick up a phone? Horrible... read more

Honest and transparent. I wanted to refinish my tub and tile surround, and contacted several resurfacing companies to compare quotes. Unlike all the other companies that either asked for pictures or gave me a standard rate, Tom actually came out to do the estimate. He took a look at my tub and said it was fine. There was a small chipped area, but other than that, he said the tub really didn't need to be refinished. It's always nice when contractors (and car mechanics) tell you that you really don't need some requested service. As a result, he only priced refinishing the walls and fixing the small chipped area of the tub, which blew all the other companies' quotes out of the waters. Jorge V did a fantastic refinishing job, even taking the time to educate me about the various DIY refinishing products that are available, and the pros and cons of each. He also showed me various stone look finishes that they offered other than the standard white. Before the epoxy coating was applied, Jorge gave me fair warning, and even an opportunity to change my original request of a pure white finish, because he knew there would be a discrepancy between the refinished white tiles and the darker color of my tub. I had assumed my tub was white until he took a small dab of the paint and applied it to the edge of my tub. I was shocked. Compared to the white paint, my tub looked gray! He offered to color match the walls to the tub, but I ultimately decided to just go with the pure white despite knowing that the tub would look darker in contrast. Overall, my experience with these guys have been great. Only time will tell how well the refinishing holds up, but in terms of price and quality of service, I would definitely recommend them. read more

Hired them to resurface a kitchen counter. Was told the Corian would be resurfaced and then a new product would be applied over it. Hired them on the spot, everything went per schedule. Went to check on the final work, only to find that the product applied to the counter was a textured product, like with sand texture on it and it was raised. How many kitchen counters, counters you and I probably use the most, have this? If your counter is textured, please let me know. Sent a message to Tom about it and all he said was all rentals he works on has the surface. OK, but I was not made aware it would be textured and never would have requested such surface. Fine, decided to move forward. New tenants move in and tell me there are stains. Tom goes to property without my presence and states he did a $400-value stain removal on this non-porous surface he claims this to be. Soon after, Tenant states there is a crack on the counter surface. I reach out to the office, going back and forth about all these past issues. Tom doesn't agree to meet me there, in person, and instead asks for pictures and simply blames the tenant for pushing against it and for causing the cracks and how the Corian under it was already cracking (which he stated was resurfaced) and that he is not responsible for the cracking of the product he laid on the counters. He further threatened to put a lien against the home despite my offering to pay half, with the remainder due upon his warranty repair on a surface that is not even 4 months old and already cracking. You tell me how this is proper business. I paid the full bill because of the threat of the lien. Before you move forward, be sure to ask which materials he'll use, what it'll look like upon completion, what his warranty policy is, and why he is so pompous to talk you down as if he is the only one who can explain why his work is faulty but not his fault. read more

WOW! Our master bath needed updating. We explored and priced the typical invasive remodeling option of remove and replace, out with the old, in with the new. Rough estimate $4000+ for new cabinet, countertop, double sinks, fixtures and bathtub with jacuzzi, including labor. It would take approximately a week or two, if we were lucky. I stumbled on the Surface Specialists ad in the Home Mag that comes in the mail every once in awhile. You've probably seen it. It's filled with local companies offering various home services that are typically high end and in my opinion, somewhat overpriced. From that lead I did a little research about Surface Specialists online (Google, Yelp) and discovered they are a national franchise operation with a local presence. I had a somewhat unique question/problem I was simultaneously attempting to resolve and according to the SS website they could possibly assist. I inadvertently shorted my Jacuzzi motor trying to repair a broken hose six months ago. The website indicated SS repaired or sold new pumps. Figured I give them a jingle and maybe kill two birds with one stone. I spoke with Keisha who was very polite, personable and professional. I asked if she could give me a ballpark figure of what resurfacing might cost and she respectfully declined to answer, suggesting that we schedule a no cost/obligation appointment to discuss details and options at the house. Accepted her offer and was given a four hour window for a few days later. I learned from Keisha that this particular SS franchise does not deal with Jacuzzi issues, but she referred me to a local outfit (Dream Tubs) that did. Called Dream Tubs, explained my problem, and they walked me through how I might be able to fix the pump myself. It was a frozen impeller and I managed to free it up. Now I was $250 ahead of the game, thanks to that SS referral and Dream Tubs excellent advice. And since now there was nothing really wrong the the tub itself, switching it out was no longer necessary. More savings! Tom, the franchise owner, came out to the house on time and explained the cost, process, showed color samples and options for sinks. He even repeated the home visit on a Saturday (not regular business hours for them...Thanks Tom, that was much appreciated!) two weeks later so my wife, a CCSD teacher, could see the colors in person before we decided which one to go with. I won't reveal the price I was quoted here but will say that it was EXTREMELY reasonable. The resurfacing work itself began on the following Wednesday afternoon and was completed on Friday (we went with the white sink option that required a second visit) by Carlos and his assistant, who were both courteous, friendly and meticulous. The results are beautiful. The cost savings incredible. We couldn't be happier with our decision to turn this project over to the Surface Specialists team. It was a gratifying experience during every step of the process, from my initial phone contact to their final job completion. Give them a call. You won't regret it. read more

I had a cracked tub, that needed repair. as an engineer, I checked thoroughly the different repair methods that were offered to me by several other specialists. The best solution was offered by Surface Specialists, and I'm sure it will last for many years. No wonder that they can offer a longer warranty - 3 years instead of just one, like all the others. I cannot be the only person to not give a 5 star! Granted Tom was an excellent sales person. Promising everything we asked for and then some. Then the employees arrived, one was a trainee, and the end result proved it! The job was to patch holes, gouges and color match shower walls. One was adequate and the Master Bath was a disaster. He did not fill in the gouges or properly color match the walls after patching the holes. When questioned he said he did see all the gouges and would have to come back. But, the office said the bid did not include that even though the bid states,"repair holes and 2 gouges on the threshold and color match them in". When we objected to the quality of the work their solution was to charge us an additional $200 to correct their incomplete job. I asked for a slight reduction in the bill and they refused. We had to get another person to correct their incomplete work! STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!! read more

Never do business with this bunch or liars. I had a major pipe burst in my bathroom. They came a rebuilt my bathroom cabinets and did a good job. However, the granite counter tops were covered with paint from the ceiling that landed on them. When the removed the dried-on paint they scraped the countertops and we found chips from the fallen ceiling. They cane out to check the counter tops a wait of 8 to 12 and said they would check with the insurance company and get back to me. Ok from insurance company 4/6 weeks later. Made an appointment to come a fix the problems between 8 and 12. The guy came out and was here for less than 5 minutes and said he had no ideas what the problem was and didn't have the stuff to fix the problem. He would come back at a late date to fix it. They call about a week later to make an appoint to fix the problems and wanted me to wait another 8 to 12. I told them that I had done that twice to fix a problem that was their fault and to give me a time. After a back and forth we agree on 8 to 9. They never show up and when I call, they said they decided not to fix the problem and to call someone else. They never called to cancel the appointment but, said they did. (my phone is always answered................one big fat lye). Stay far, far away. read more

Worst customer surface! To make an appointment for a quote they gave a 4 hour window, 8:00 to 12:00, 1:00 to 5:00. Before making an appointment to give a quote they wanted to know how I would be able to let them in on the day of service, since I worked. I made an appointment for a quote, waied from 8:00 until 11:20 pm. I missed his call. The message said I had 10 minutes to call back or appointment would be canceled. I didn't call back in time so they canceled appointment. I waited home all morning for nothing! read more

Horrible communication and worse attitude! We had a resurfacing job scheduled to do 2 bathrooms. We had to coordinate with the glass installer to put in new glass too. I called to confirm the start date and time, and was told the tech had an emergency and the job would be postponed 1 day. This messed up our schedule but we agreed. The day he was supposed to come we had a time window of 8-12. When he didn't show up by 12, I called the office. Was told he would be there within 1 hr. When that didn't happen, I called the office again and spoke to the manager. Tech finally arrived at 2pm, and asked me what he was supposed to do. He also told me the girls at the office that did the scheduling didn't know how long jobs take that's why he was late. At that point, I was not confident the whole job would get done at all, and I called the owner of the company. He actually wanted to charge me more than my original estimate for something that was left off the quote! After delays and wasting my time, he should have given me a discount! I told him I was cancelling the work and would go elsewhere. He said you can go ahead and do that, then hung up on me. I have no idea of the quality of their work, but it can't be worth dealing with these people! read more

We had a crack in the floor of our fiberglass shower surround. Tom Ditter came out and gave us an estimate. During the conversation we came to find out that they were the manufacturers of the surround we had. He gave us two options for how to repair the damage. The technician was out today, completed the repair in about an hour, and now the shower floor looks brand new. Everyone was courteous and professional and the price was reasonable. Perhaps one of the worst companies I have dealt with. The guy who came out to bid the job was personable enough. He led me to believe his company could make my shower look great again. I even coordinated with a glass company they recommended to have new shower doors put in. The glass company did a great job. Not so much with surface specialists. There are still holes in the tile from the old door and now they are claiming that that wasn't part of the job. The caulk they put in is already cracking a week later. The shower pan is still dingy and has adhesive from the old doors. We discussed timing the work so the old shower doors would be gone and they could work without hinderence. Now they are saying they bid the job with the shower doors on. Yes! But you knew the shower doors were coming down. I'm beyond frustrated and rude receptionist is just too much! read more
