We had five different staff members helping us across the three trips (a boat captain and assistant on each trip). Henri, JP, Zeekies... I forget some of the other staff members names, but they were all great. Two and three hour trips, they take you to the best breaks, and really helped guide us around the local breaks. One son is an experienced surfer, one is pretty much a novice, and I am kind of in between. They were great with all of us. Can't speak highly enough about them!

I paid over $200 for these just to get a life time experience with my kid and received only 5 videos each for 3 seconds long. The one he swam around the pool was maybe 30 seconds long but I only received a video for 7 seconds. Very lame and disappointing that these places are all a tourist trap and take advantage of all tourists. The waves nearby did not look great in the morning so when we arrived they took us by boat to a nearby spot that was much better. They gave us quick and helpful instructions on the beach, brought us protective shirts for the water, and brought along snacks and water (and boards, of course). The spot could not have been better for complete beginners and intermediate surfers alike. The breaks were good, smooth, and relatively predictable but not so tame as to be boring. The water was warm and the area was not crowded (we went early in the day--i.e., 9:30 am--and were there in mid-September). I've posted a photo taken from a cliff above our surf spot. It really was perfect. We enjoyed it so much that a few of us went back out with them two days later. This time, we drove in our rental car to the same spot. Alex and company brought the boards in their truck. Afterwards, Alex Jr. also took us to a nearby spot for a quick sip of raicilla upon our asking. They also tipped us off on where to find good tacos in town and a fun dinner place outside of town. All around, this is a really fun crew who enjoy what they do and are very good at it. It's about a 10 minute boat ride. Fox is happy to hold your place in the line-up and offer advice on the best wave to catch or he can teach a beginner on a foamy or he will just drop you off if you are a pro. If you have non-surfers in your group they can go along to watch from the ponga. Accion Tropical has many boards to choose from so you can leave your board at home and travel through the airport carefree. Accion Tropical is easy to find as they are right across the street from Si Senor restaurant on the main drag. I can't say enough good things about Accion Tropical for a rental house and Fox as a surf coach.

Front desk staff was impressively friendly, explained how it all works, and somehow managed to immediately get them a private instructor even though they appeared super busy. Sunshirts/rashguards were available to borrow but I'm glad kids had their own. Paschalis (Pascal) their teacher was AMAZING! Absolutely overflowing with enthusiasm and encouragement. He chose the right waves and got the kids going on them, so all they really had to do was pop up. Beach was busy with instructors and beginners, but Pascal was completely focused on my kiddos. They had a blast and I had even more fun watching the smiles! Lesson was 2 hours, with about 1.5hr in the water. The beach is beginner friendly. Lesson includes the surfboard. There's also a photographer at the beach and I'd definitely recommend budgeting to buy the photos. For 2 kids, with their own teacher, the lesson was $85/ea and pics were $55 for 1st kid and $15 for 2nd we got 36 fabulous photos. They had so much fun, we're going back for another lesson today!

Quinty even gave her a little education on her home country of the Netherlands. What a great experience to surf in Mexico while learning a little Dutch culture. She's a high energy instructor with an even higher surf IQ so please don't hesitate to book a lesson with her if you want to make the most of your La Lancha surf sessions. She's also very protective and observant while instructing, ensuring the safest learning environment for your friends and loved ones. The main beach in Sayulita is not really peaceful and we were tired of being harassed by beach vendors all day so Playa de Los Muertos hit the spot for the day. Not as extremely quiet with no structure like Cerraritos and not crazy packed or stinky like the fishermen beach. We got chairs and umbrella for the day for 200 pesos. Cheap beers (as everywhere in there) and good service. Small area marked for swimming and a lifeguard on duty. Great views and a quaint vibe. Clean water. Although (And please don't be mad at me) I often wondered if the fact the beach is right by a cemetery doesn't mean we are swimming at a pool of corpses juice. I was once at a beach in Puerto Rico that was across from a cemetery and locals told me the rain washes away everything into the ocean so... must be the case in Playa de Los Muertos. If you like Mexican culture and appreciate their relationship with the dead, you'll love the cemetery tho. So much color and joy for those who are now gone. The beach is a short 10 minutes walk back to Sayulita "center" and definitely a cool hidden gem. We'll be back.

The breakfast on the way there was an assortment of fruit and mini muffins. The lunch was fajitas which we really enjoyed. I loved that everyone had to wear a life jacket for the first 10 minutes of the ride as I was initially nervous about the ride. After the 10 minutes are up, we had the option of continuing to wear the life jacket or take it off. All the instructions they gave were in both English and Spanish. One of the highlights on the way there was the whale watching. We saw a couple of them and it was so cool because it's the very end of the season, so we won't be seeing them again for a few months. Once we got the the island, we had some really good chips and guacamole. There were a few different excursion options for an additional cost. such as hiking to the waterfall, going horseback riding, or driving ATVs. Not sure what the cost for those were. We enjoyed snorkeling in the ocean and swimming in the shallow pool with a bar attached for easy access. I highly recommend this tour. We definitely got our money's worth and more!

Pleasantly surprised by the mountain biking offered in sayulita. The rental bikes aren't some 5…read morestar build boutique brand, they are entry-mid level builds that have some signs of wear on them, as you would expect from any rental place and were more than adequate. The guys in the shop took the time to get me fitted to the bike and made any adjustments needed without hesitation. They also provided a nice newer helmet(several to choose from). I rode a few days while there, a mix of gravel around town and the single track ride over to San pancho. The trails are found on the trail forks app. Any competent mountain biker would be fine. If I could do it over again I would probably have hired the guide for half the day, just so I wasn't having to stop and get my phone out at every trail intersection. They were building new trails and I look forward to headed back down there asap..
