I just want to clarify something here. This is NOT a hotel! This is a hostel... A pricey one but a HOSTEL. So keep this in mind if you stay here. It is not the Four Seasons or even a Motel 6 it's a hostel. They won't "leave the light on." My photo clearly show the name. Hostels are for kids backpacking and they sleep in their own sleeping bag. Located above Dragon near pier.

Another one of my favorite hostels in LA. This one is further south of Los Angeles right on Hermosa…read moreBeach. It's located at the end of the walking plaza past several restaurants and shops leading up to the beach. The entry is extremely discreet; it's a slim doorway with a camera bell in between two restaurants. . Upon walking up the stairs is a slim hallway. To the left is reception, several rooms, a communal restroom, the lounge, dining room and kitchen. To the right are more rooms, and a window at the end of the hall that overlooks the walking plaza with a hammock for lounging and people watching. . What I like most about this place is it's clean, safe and they have free breakfast which is usually pancakes, eggs & whole fruit. Parking is paid and on the street with a few lots and garages. Most spaces are paid meters for 3 hours, but further down on Hermosa Avenue there are a handful of 24 hour spots. . The cons include the communal bathroom being out of supplies (i.e. toilet paper & paper towels) & some 5 foot 4 inches, random man trying to hold a full blown conversation with me as I was brushing my teeth. Awkward to say the least. There area is also downtown Hermosa so the bars and restaurants are open late and if on the street side it is extremely loud late at night. . Lastly, but far from least, the staff are welcoming and kind. I couldn't find parking the last time I booked here and although it was late, I called the front desk a couple of times and the host was super accommodating and offered as much help as she could over the phone. Reception is also open until midnight although their website says 11. Once I finally did find parking, after checking in, I was given a tour of the place. . This place is budget friendly and in a great neighborhood. If you need a cool & clean accommodation and don't mind the commute away from the city, ITH is the place.

When I mentioned I was concerned that there wasn't a locker he asked me to just wait a minute and he would see what he could do. To my surprise, he came back carrying a six foot metal locker! Talk about service! All the staff were friendly and treated me like we had been friends for years. Patrick cooked up hotdogs for everyone and invited me to come to the instant hot dog party there for all the guest. So this Bruno and the ITH staff all gave me something to talk about!

Canceled prepaid stay + months to get refund -- unacceptable…read more Booked and prepaid a room at The Wave. They were unable to accommodate the stay that night, so we had to book and pay again at their sister hotel next door (Hotel Pacifica). Fast forward: it took approximately six weeks to get the $100 deposit back, and nearly three months for the travel agency to force the refund for the prepaid room that The Wave canceled. The travel agency sent eight or more documented emails simply asking the hotel to confirm in writing that they were unable to accommodate the guest. The hotel did not respond. The front desk staff were polite and helpful -- Kevin became familiar with us because of how many times we called and went in person. The problem was management. The manager/owner (Nick) was the person required to approve the refund and chose to be non-responsive to emails and calls from both us and the travel agency. That is not good business. You don't get to take someone's money for a room, cancel the stay, and then ignore refund requests -- especially when the guest had to pay again at your sister property the same night. If money was that tight, the guest should have been accommodated. Keeping the money without providing the room is unacceptable. Advice to other travelers: Get a printed folio and deposit receipt before you leave. Ask the hotel to inspect the room and release your deposit in writing. Otherwise, you may find yourself months later fighting to get your own money back.

I think that there are a couple of misconceptions regarding the Cabrillo Hotel…read more First of all this is not a typical hotel like a Best Western or Days Inn. To make a comaprrison directly would not be fair. The Cabrillo Hotel is similar to a hostel. The amentites of a hotel or motel are not furnished and not advertised as such. I stayed at the Cabrillo for about 4 weeks and found the rooms quiet and clean as for the other guests they were all decent and well behaved individuals. I never observed any drug use or saw any shady characters hanging around. The manager Ms. Brooks would never allow that to happen. Be forewarned that the hotel observes and enforces several rules that help maintain a secure and safe environment. I think that people often come to the Cabrillo with unrealistic expectations, which is odd sense the manager explains the rules in detail prior to admission. I believe it is because of these misunderstanding that there are so many unfavorable reviews and that really should not be. The onus is on the guest to listen to and later comply with the rules. I would have no problem recommending this hotel to anyone looking for the following: Quiet, safe and clean furnished room with free secure wifi. If your intent is too get a room to party in or have friends come over and start a commotion then this is the wrong place for you. However if you want a safe place to sleep where your valuables will also be safe then this is a good option. Lastly an earlier review referenced that there were/are Asian owners and I think that the person writing the review has confused the Cabrillo Motel in Torrance with the one in San Pedro so I would not apply that review as relevant to the non affiliated Cabrillo of Torrance Hotel.

I was going to have my sister stay here but the management is very rude and offers poor service…read more They keep a lot of rough looking people around I would not advise any young women to consider staying here.

The lobby had great vibes, and the 24-hour complimentary airport shuttle was a major plus. There are plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance, and it's conveniently close to the highway and the beach. The popcorn bar was a nice, welcoming touch--though it wasn't always replenished. The room itself was very clean, and the balcony was a huge selling point and definitely a reason I'd return. 10/10.

This is 7min away from LAX and they provide a shuttle every 30 min. It can get packed VERY quickly (each person fighting for a spot) but it's close enough for an easy uber/lyft. Everyone was greeted right away. People felt approachable and kind. Inside the room (I think ours was the king, 2nd floor) was spacious enough and felt clean. A little stuffy and weird smell coming in but thankfully, they have a window you can open and let in fresh air (issue resolved), our window opened up to the back alley, but that's not something we care about too much. It was quiet. I barely heard any noise. The tv had a few options but not any app options like Netflix etc, we weren't able to mirror anything from Apple products. Bed was comfortable, easy to sleep. The room was chilly mid November but we like cold so we didn't bother to turn on the thermostat so I can't speak on that. It's nothing fancy fancy, but again if you are looking for a clean place to be that near LAX this is not a bad spot for the price. Whether just over night or a few days just to have a place to sleep However, I wouldn't say that you should get the breakfast included because it's nothing special and there is a grocery store and Starbucks right across the street and easy walk. I think only a fridge no microwave in the room That is another plus, there is a ton of fast food nearby! We walked easily. We felt safe enough to walk around Parking looks limited and from previous reviews looks like it could get pricey I wish they had those things you place your luggage on, I don't like putting it on the floor. They have a full body length mirror so that's nice if the bathroom is occupied
