The best thing about Surf 6 is the deck right on the beach. 2nd best were the drinks. I had a blueberry and vodka lemonade that was delicious. Real blueberry purée made it. Waitstaff were friendly and attentive. Problem is the meh food, high prices for what you get. I understand summer tourist season...but come on. We had fried haddock basket. $17 for 5 chunks of fish, a small cup coleslaw, and a whole lotta fries. The fries were good, but the fish was just ok. We are in Maine. The painkillers were very refreshing too, and served in a bucket making them worth the price. In addition, we ordered their fried calamari. A couple of us got the lobster roll, which was just a hot dog roll with a few pieces of lobster meat. I was definitely hungry when I left the restaurant. Just your regular basic restaurant in Old Orchard Beach. Nothing special about the food but the views and service are GREAT! I didn't catch our waitresses name but she was super sweet and attentive. Seafood, burgers, pork sandwiches, chicken tenders, kid meals available here! They also have a full bar. I recommend sitting outside. I love being able to look at the ocean! It's gorgeous. read more

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mama's out there! Thought it would be nice to sit out by the beach over some drinks and food. When we arrived we were asked by the hostess whether we wanted to sit inside or outside...There's still a bit of a chill in the air so we opted to sit inside. We were sat by the windows that overlooked the beach. Beautiful view of the pier as well! The atmosphere inside is wicked cool...Has that pirate coastal vibe. Our server greeted us with a smile and menus. We partied it up Friday night so I skipped on their specialty cocktails and stuck with a Shirley Temple, My hubby ordered the Blueberry Colada! It has a kick to it which is nice because you're getting your moneys worth. He enjoyed it. For starters we ordered the New England Clam Chowder and the Lobster Stew. The Clam Chowder was pretty good and the Lobster Stew was good too. A little salty but not bad. For entrees my husband ordered the fried clams with fries and said the clams were delicious! He thought at first that their tarter sauce was ranch dressing and asked our waitress for tarter sauce only to find out it was actually tarter sauce they'd given him and not ranch. Their tarter sauce is pretty mild. I ordered the Lobster Mac & Cheese. They definitely don't rob you of Lobster so that was a HUGE bonus! Nothing's worse than ordering Lobster Mac and you get two skimpy pieces of Lobster...but not here, they hook it up! The cheese sauce fell a wee bit short but with such a heaping serving of Lobster mixed in who could complain. Overall both my husband and I were happy with our experience here. The servings are large so we got full pretty quickly and took our left overs home. If you happen to be in Old Orchard Beach, this place is definitely worth visiting. read more

Food was meh, I got the grilled chicken sandwich because there wasn't a crazy variety of options. Drinks were good, and server was excellent (which is one of two reasons for the extra star). Took unbelievably long to get food, granted it was busy - but I always take account for that, it was too long for what our table ordered. Prices are ridiculously high, probably preying on tourist purchasing, so I get it, i guess. I liked the ambiance with the live music and outdoor setting (although, the music was ridiculously loud when you're sitting anywhere near the artist, too the point where it was difficult to hear the person next to me speak.) Well the night started fine, food and drinks at the bar with some friends. It was closing time and they sold us a last round. All of a sudden one staff person without warning barked at us that they closed an hour and a half ago and the bartender would like to go home. Huh? We were legit having a conversation with the bartender that she initiated with us when we're getting scolded by someone else to leave. How about dont sell the last round and then tell people to screw, especially mid conversation. We would have happily left before 4 more drinks were bought. I get food service is not easy, but yelling at a group of 50 somethings who had good tabs and good interactions the whole time with staff and patrons completely uncalled for. read more

Visited Surf 6 recently. Was hoping the 2.5 star rating was inaccurate, but sadly it wasn't. From a service standpoint our waitress was great and took very good care of us. The food however was definitely meh, unfortunately. I ordered the baked haddock only to be informed they were out of baked potatoes (?) so it would come with fries. Unfortunately they were just previously frozen crinkle cut fries. Ok. Whatever. I can move beyond that, but it was the haddock that was underwhelming. It was sitting in a ramekin in a pool of what I thought was butter, but had zero butter flavor. It was just an oily mess that with the also season-less crumb topping made for an incredibly bland dish. I found the asparagus side was actually cooked and seasoned well and I'm someone who doesn't even really like asparagus. My son got the ($30!) lobster mac and cheese which came out very dry looking. It almost looked like it had been baked a couple days ago and was just microwaved back to life. He didn't care for it and after trying a bite of the lobster, I couldn't blame him. If the lobster was fresh it definitely didn't taste like it. It's a good location and has a cool vibe, but it's just too bad it falls so short on the actual food experience. read more

The atmosphere was perfect. Sitting on the deck listening to live music by Emily Torres while looking out at the ocean was a perfect mid day treat on my birthday. We stopped in for drinks and an appetizer. While we were disappointed that they were out of lobster cakes, the loaded fries were a pleasant surprise. They were "loaded" with cheese, tomatoes and jalapeños. Just wish there were more. Ok for 2 people, but would need more for a larger party. Went to this place last summer and it was great -- especially the homemade chips. Came back this summer and was very disappointed. The "homemade chips" weren't homemade at all -- straight out of two different chip bags! They didn't even have the energy to make sure the chips were the same type. It was a mixture of ruffles and regular. My friend and I ordered the same meal (the burger with onion rings) and my burger had everything on it whereas my friend's did not have the onion rings or the sauce! So weird. We would have said something to the waitress, except we did not see her again until we were already done eating. She seriously only dropped by the minimum amount. We barely saw her and that was very frustrating. How do you mess up the same exact meal? Not to mention the burger was $18 and extra for bacon and fries or onion rings -- weird. At most other restaurants in OOB, fries COME with the meal. I thought that was pretty standard nowadays. So, $22 something for burger and fries? Go ANYWHERE else for cheaper, better service, and better quality. The live music was terrible. It was too loud and the singer was horrible. Someone next to us complained their lobster Mac n cheese was frozen cold. So they got their meal for free. I guess if you want free cold lobster Mac n cheese in OOB, this is your place! Cool space, and a bar made from a real lobster boat, but that's really about where the good ends...I pulled 3 fruit flies out of my beer as I was drinking it. They weren't in it when it was served, but so many around the bar that they were landing in it. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and it arrived in roughly 3 minutes. As expected being that quick it was dry and the bacon was not at all freshly cooked either. Pretty positive the chicken had been grilled previously, as a nice thick chicken breast cannot be grilled in less than 5 minutes. It was edible, but far from worth the $15 price tag. Although I was told it was a 2 pound lobster after having a total of three bites, one for each claw and the tail I called them over and said this is not a 2 pound lobster I am not even sure it is a 1 pound lobster. They apologized and did take $19 off of my check, but still this is a low rated restaurant probably ripping off Tourists whenever possible. As it was one of the only two places to eat at night in this area on Tuesday, I thought how bad can a lobster dinner be even though they had such low ratings. The 2.5 stars, as of 7/5/19, don't do Surf 6 justice. Not sure what the poor ratings are for... This place 100% delivers on exactly what it should be known for: good food, solid drink selection, great live music outside on the deck, and amazing views. We had beers (nice and cold), excellent lobster stew, spicy haddock tacos, and fish & chips. It was all really good. If there was one drawback it would be our server, who was very friendly and competent, was struggling to balance tables inside and outside and the wait for some things took a little longer. That said, as long as you have your drink, some music, and that view a few extra minutes are fine by me. Enjoy! read more
