You'd ski boots are your most important piece of ski equipment. Spend the most money on your ski boots. Go to a specific ski boot fitter. I use Surefoot in Whistler British Columbia. They will take the time to properly fit you in a comfortable ski boot. You need to give them the time to do a proper fit. I usually budget 3-4 hours to get the right fit in the ski boot plus custom orthotics/footbeds. Sure foot will use that time for your best results. I highly recommend Surefoot. I also plan at least another visit to tweak my boots after I ski them for a day or two. Surefoot is more than happy to help tweak your boots after your purchase is completed. You can always go and get them tweaked as often as you need to get them right. I know I have used them often to get my boots right after three visits. They are always happy to help me with my boots. Went back to Surefoot, and tried the boots that had the big toe "punched out" on the plastic shell, which helped! However, I was still feeling pinching in the pinky toe, front outer foot area. Troy, cut a portion of the foot liner to make it sit flatter and make a little more room for my toes. I was happy enough to give the boots a try, noting that my toes were still a little bunched in the front outer foot area. At least my feet weren't going numb within 15 mins with them on (and on the loosest buckle setting). Hope to give the boots a try over the next couple weeks and see how they do. I'm not convinced that my toes should be feeling uneven pressure across the front when not in a lean position (pinky toes pushing into the boot liner more than my big toe). read more

I have had great experiences here. I have a strangely shaped foot, so I've come to realize after two other pairs of boots that didn't quite work. I finally came to Surefoot after investing way too much money fixing the others. It took a couple hours for all the custom work and it was well worth it!! You can get a custom picked hard shell, a custom foam liner (so good!) and/or a custom orthotic. I was able to get my orthotics 100% covered with my extra insurance when it accompanied a doctor's note. Since they offer a guarantee on your happiness of the boots, they are always welcoming, esp. when coming in for a free adjustment. Such amazing service, I would highly recommend it!! read more

After 2 other boot systems and 4 years of boot fit struggle i finally decided to throw down the cash for a Surefoot foam injection liner and foot bed in my existing shells. It took a few visits to get it to 100% but the guys were always happy to help sort the small issues i needed adjusting. I used to race when I was younger(over 10 years ago) and so until recently I had been using my old racing gear thinking it was 'good enough'. I even instructed for many years using the same tired old equipment that I stubbornly kept frankensteining together to keep it working. Last season I discovered Surefoot and trust me, I'll never wear anything else. The staff at this location were all very experienced skiiers and seemed to be very skilled at the actual bootfitting. They scanned my foot with this funky looking(and sounding) foot scanner and then made me a custom instole right in the store and it was so fast that it was done before I could go get a coffee. The insole alone has made a difference in my comfort and performance out on the hill, not to mention they built a heater right into it! Goodbye cold feet. I got the custom foamed liner which was uncomfortable during the process but once the foaming is complete it hugs your foot perfectly. As an instructor I have heard every boot complaint you can imagine and honestly this system seems to solve them all. I wish I could go back in time and recommend Surefoot to those people with pinches or chafing or cold toes. On top of all of that, I brought my boots back in during the summer to ask some questions about maybe modifying the shell I purchased there and they still had all my foot details in thier computer system and informed me that they will do any modification work down the road for FREE. That kind of product support and customer service is so rare and it really makes me comfortable spending a little more knowing that it includes a lifetime of free tweaking. read more

The GOOD: Prompt and friendly service. Measuring my feet and identifying the right boot was quick and easy (I knew what I wanted and this probably helped). Explained me what was included along with the custom footbed if I purchased it along with the new boot (essentially free boot fitting). Wait time was very minimal and not rushed through since I went there almost closing time, with another customer in the shop. Liked their measurement process to mold/grind the custom footbed, typically 20min for a pair, from measurement to final product. The BAD: I had requested for a discount since I got both the boot and the footbed at the same time. Response was an immediate yes, for a 10% off. However, when I was getting billed I asked for the price and the technician mentioned it would be CAD 697.50 after discounting the marked price of CAD 775.00. This came to me as a HUGE surprise since the Tecnica Mach 1 130 LV is priced at all stores and online at CAD 699.00. He said this is the price on the shelf and he cannot do much. I requested if they can do anything on the footbed price to which he declined as well. This is not only frustrating but appalling, since it almost felt like I was victim of malpractice (up-scaling the price and then discounting it). It was late and I didn't really have the time and energy to deal with the situation, so went ahead with the purchase. Plus the footbed was already made for me and I wanted to respect the time spent by the technician with me. Unfortunately I cannot remember his name, but receipt says salesperson 125. I would have loved to give a 5 star experience but this incidence did make me quite upset and frustrated. read more

Terrible experience. The shop is PRICE FIXING and ILLEGALLY TAXING 7% PST on bike helmets and cycling protection devices. This is what the salesperson disclosed to me out in the open, while refusing to refund for gear that he charged 100% over MSRP price + full 12% tax, telling me it's normal Retail practice to rip people off (especially tourists). There were no price stickers on the gear, no official receipt was provided. I was refunded and basically thrown-out of the store and told repeatedly that I'm wrong. I will be filing a complaint with Canada Revenue Agency and the Competition Bureau of Canada. read more

Very busy store (not a bad thing) but staff seem tired and at time more than a little curt. Went in with my family to get 5 sets of custom fitted boots at a cost of $5000+ and our fitting staff variously seemed frustrated and irritated that things didn't fit first time. I went in here to have my ski boots adjusted as I got blisters all over my shins. The first time I went in they basically told me to buy new boots even though I had only used my boots for maybe 7 weeks maximum. Then I came back the next day and was lucky enough to talk to Chris. He took a look at my shins and recommended that I come in with my boots the next day so that he could make some adjustments. He did a fabulous job as for the first time since I got my boots I was able to ski without pain in my feet/ankle/shin area. I went in because my forefoot was cramping and preventing enjoyable skiing. They built a custom orthotic and did a foam-injected liner. They were able to reuse and save my Lange shell. Yes, it cost $710. With a shell it would have been more than $1000. But the difference is remarkable. A perfect combination of control and comfort. Sam was great, 17 years experience. This review is for the Leatt part of the store. I was at Whistler last year and the guys were very helpful and I bought a whole new kit (helmet and neck brace). This year they moved to a smaller location in the Village. I couldn't tell if the store was open or closed. All the shops had their doors open and this shop was the only one that had their doors closed from open to closing time. When I finally figured out they were open, I walked in and the guy didn't seem too interested in helping. This is far different from when they were closer to the Gondola. I didn't even want to be in there and seems like neither were the employees. They were the ONLY store in the village closed for Canada Day! That just shows you how much they want to be there. Word of advice, open your doors during business hours. This store is the only Leatt body armor game in the Village. Make use of that! read more

Sam and his team are the best boot fitters I have ever worked with. As a World Cup competitor for 12 years (1999-2010), my ski boots were my most important piece of equipment, and over that time Sam was incredible: he would dial in even the most minute of changes. I skied Surefoot boots, liners, and footbeds. Now, years later I only ski powder on the weekends and needed some work on a new pair of boots. I had a couple of painful pressure points around my ankle. Sam made the pain disappear like magic and made me some custom foam tongues for when I feel like charging. This place is not what it used to be.Arrogant vendors desperate to make a sale.After purchasing a 1500 CAD pair of boots these guys had bad attitudes and unpolite manners in the readjustings of the boot fitting.They didnt want to be bothered between their own conversations for a readjustment, just looking for new sales. These guys think they are ski super stars!! Both times the sales associate was more confident and accurate with their thoughts and work than any other boot fitter i've worked with before. These guys are amazing! I have always suffered in ski boots, and thought I was destined to pop Advil every day after skiing. I was urged to go here at the recommendation of a friend and a boot-fitter in the village (Fanatyk - which is also great) who didn't have any appropriate boots in my size. I arrived at 9am and was helped by Chris and by 11am I had new boots. These boots are the most comfortable ski boots ever, and they really work with you to get a great fit. After the first day I noticed some pressure on one foot, I went in that night and they adjusted it in 15 minutes. I'm not sure what the other reviews are referring to about the staff being arrogant- I thought they were very responsive and committed to getting you a great fit. It is crowded after the mountain closes but they have a lot of staff to help. They aren't cheap (I payed $1K in USD for Dalbello boots, the insole, liner, and sure foot memory foam) but over the long run it is a small price to pay to be pain free. Also, I didn't feel pressure to by boot warmers (which run $300-500 Canadian) and was told you could always add them on later. In summary, I'm a Surefoot believer! read more
