Riot Arts and Crafts is definitely more craft than art. I went in there to look for some new…read morewatercolours and paints and they had little to choose from. What they did have was all quite expensive as well. On the other hand, this place is great for your general craft needs, stickers, colouring in, and kids crafts. The staff are helpful but overall this store just lacks the selection that I want. It is on the level 1 of the Indooroopilly shopping centre and in that sense is quite convenient if you only need to pick up the odd feather or glitter for your next craft project.

I think this shop is one of the older ones because it looks a little more run down and 'yellow'…read morethan the other ones. Maybe it needs a facelift or a repaint or something. One thing is for sure, they do stock great art supplies for kids, finger painting, acryllics that wash off easily, kid art frocks, cool sticks with foam pads stuck to the end of them for kids to paint with stamping and foam (not sure what the real name for the stick foam thing is) and they also stock these cool little tubs for kids that are non-spill paint tubs. So if you want to leave your kiddies to paint unsupervised, at least when they tip the paint over it doesn't spill - what a great invention! They only cost $1-$2 a little tub so you can buy one for every colour, very easy to clean too and it holds the actual brush as there's a hole in the top. I got a lot of supplies here for my kids art wise, crayon wise and frock wise... and in the back, you can usually get some good deals on different sized canvases if you're wanting to paint something cool on material. It's a bit hard to understand the prices and the sizes of the canvas supply in the back of the shop but there's always someone willing to lend you a hand.

I'm going to keep this review short, and sour. Dark Magician opened its door back in Ipswich many…read moreyears ago. The way the business operated was like any other business except the owner is quite competitive. He has done many things which served to lose him many customers, and as such he closed his doors in Ipswich and moved to Brisbane, after Good Games opened its doors in Ipswich also. His business methods, and work ethic, are quite uncomfortable. Just not at all comfortable going anywhere near his store. But feel free to judge for yourself.

If there is one reason to come up to Ipswich and check is place out, and that is because the Doctor…read morehas left his Tardis sitting here while he goes off on one of his adventures. I asked if I could go inside, but unfortunately he took the keys with him, so in the end this simply becomes a prop for a really cool photo shoot. Mind you, this is a pretty cool shop in the heart of Ipswich, and as is typical with me, I had to go inside and check it out - namely because the name, and the two dice on the board out the front, instantly tipped me off as to what I could find inside, and sure enough it was a shop that sold all sorts of roleplaying merchanise. They even had some clothes for sale for those of us who really like our gothware. They also run magic tournaments, and have space for those who simply want to come in for some roleplaying sessions. Certainly a place to check out if you're in Ipswich and like these type of places (as I do).

If you like your collector locomotives, your collector cars, this is the one stop shop for you…read more They stock the biggest range of trains, cars, kites, model airplanes that I have ever seen. Walking into this place is weird because you feel that you shouldn't touch anything because you don't want to break anything but every ounce of your child within is really doing everything it can to not want to touch and play with everything within sight and within reason. With locomotives here going for over $1000 this is the real deal, not for the faint hearted but for serious lifelong collectors who are establishing their collection for grandchildren. The trains are limited editions sometimes and will only increase in value over time (they tell me), so you better be serious when you buy them and maybe just keep them in the box. Not the kind of stuff you buy for kids that are young. But kids that are old enough to appreciate a good thing and take care of a good thing when they see it.

I went into Hobbyrama for the first time yesterday to buy some glue (long story). Wow. I never knew…read moreI had an inner ten year old boy but apparently I do because I had so much fun looking around in here. Maybe I should start building model cars. They have so many crazy things that I would never have even known existed. Their range of model cars, planes, boats, tanks, trains, and insert any other mode of transportation you can think of here is amazing. The store is huuuge and literally packed to the rafters. As well as the model vehicles they have doll house kits, and little doors, furniture, etc. to for people who build dollhouses. Just seeing the little doors and windows in their packages made me smile thinking of Grandfathers making dollhouses for their grand-daughters. But now I'm getting emotional over a hobby shop. Hobbyrama has puzzles, crafts, kites, and countless other things you could do to entertain yourself or hone your fine motor skills. I've never built a model in my life, but this shop is full of so many things that even a hobby n00b like myself would love to try my (very shaky) hand at. I needed to buy glue for small pieces of plywood, and the guy behind the counter helped me out and was very friendly. He didn't even mind that I had my fourteen year old terrier in tow (who was busy examining the extensive range of matchbox cars down at his eye level). Hobbyrama is worth a browse purely out of interest. You'll be surprised by the kinds of cool things people make. You might even end up tackling something yourself although if you're anything like me you'll no doubt end up with pieces of aeroplane glued to your hands, but it's all part of the fun, right?
