From our first phone call to linking up via Zoom and eventually meeting Mr. Odom in person, it has always been such a positive experience. Our daughter has a very busy schedule which made it really hard to find a time for her driving lessons. Mr. Odom went above and beyond to get us on his schedule. Mr. Odom is a wonderful, patient and kind instructor. Our daughter grew to be a more confident driver and got a lot of helpful driving tips from Mr. Odom. We highly recommend Mr. Odom with Navigation Academy!

It's one of the best public middle schools in Virginia and is fully accredited. Great building that's newer. Awesome administration and faculty that care about their student body. As well super friends made that she carries onto Cox H.S. A highlight has been the AVID program that I would recommend. If your in the Great Neck School District count yourself fortunate. It is the strongest Middle outside of the gifted academy.

I also practice attachment parenting, and wanted a place that would also follow the same line of discipline as I do. I interviewed with the director Kim in the summer, and knew that this was the place for my daughter. She told me from the start that they set up an environment where they do not have to say no often. She also mentioned that they try to get outdoors everyday, and if the entire class is having a bad day it isn't unheard of to not do much "work" and allow the children to burn off energy. I like this concept. Preschool doesn't need to be a "sit down, do this worksheet" type of place. Now, don't get me wrong, the kids there learn a lot! My daughter has progressed very well in Mrs. Denise's classroom. She's learned all the basics they teach in preschool as well as things like manners, respect for all living things, love for our environment, etc. It is a Christian preschool, but they do not go overboard with the biblical education.

I cannot recommend this EMT program highly enough. If you're looking for a high-quality, affordable…read moreEMT course that will genuinely prepare you for a career in EMS, this is it. That said, be ready to put in the work. The program moves quickly and covers a significant amount of material in only two class days per week. You must be motivated, disciplined, and willing to study outside of class to get the most out of it. Daryl is an exceptional instructor. Rather than simply reading from PowerPoint slides, he brings the material to life through real-world experience, practical application, and engaging instruction. He is firm, fair, and straightforward, creating an environment where students are held to a high standard while still receiving the support they need to succeed. If you show up, put in the effort, and take the course seriously, you'll gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to pursue your EMT certification and begin your career in EMS. This program exceeded my expectations, and I would recommend it to anyone considering becoming an EMT.

(I love and respect teachers!) When my youngest son said he wanted to go to school, I had misgivings. However, I decided to let him go. Honestly, I figured he would stay for a few weeks and then he would hate it. The school year is just about finished and he not only stayed for the whole year but he plans to go back for 5th grade. Named after the first African-American superintendent from Suffolk, Mack Benn Junior Elementary School opened back in 1998. Sadly, Mack Benn Junior drowned during a boat accident. Here are some pros and cons about the school: * The classrooms are small and too many students are crammed. The teachers do their best; speaking about teachers, my son's teacher is Mrs. Maskelony and she rocks! I was so pleased that my son had an awesome teacher for his first time. I also like the principal, David LeFevre. This was his first time at Mack Benn and I think he has been great. He is warm, caring, and attentive. * I am impressed about the gifted program called Quest. Compared to another school and gifted program for my middle son, Quest is much better. The students got to talk to an astronaut virtually and a video conference with Barbara Bush. * I didn't want to talk about the administrators (office staff) because I know it can be a hard job. However, many parents say some of the staff is rude and even my son said the same. When I asked him what he didn't like about the school, he said some administrators aren't very nice. I would rather have my son at home but I have been more impressed than I thought I would. My son has been happy there and that is what matters. I think Mack Benn Jr. is one of the best elementary schools in Suffolk but keep in mind that all of Suffolk schools are subpar.

The teachers and staff go beyond just classroom education to make sure that kids are learning after school by giving up their own off time. PROS: - Teachers are amazing and do their best to educate each child and meet them where they are. - Administrators and office staff get the short end of the stick having to deal with a myriad of personalities and still be expected to smile all the time but they somehow manage to do it. - Community engagement to help parents and students get extra help where needed. CONS: - These poor educators oftentimes have to drag parents in and coerce them into helping their kids with reading and math. The amount of coaxing that is done so that the kids can do well on tests is sad but the school does a good job of trying to entice both students and parents to study after school with their engagement nights. (not sure if this is really a con because it just shows the dedication and lengths these educators will go to for student success)
