Superior's operator set their fertilizing machine improperly and burned a 4'x150' section of our lawn along the back and side of the house. Our burned strip is a continuation of a burned strip in our neighbor's yard (who also uses Superior). I'm trying to complain, but they don't answer the phone or return calls (4 calls so far). It's funny, this meandering burned strip is the part of my lawn that was damaged. The rest of the lawn is okay, which implies that Superior never actually processed the rest of the lawn. read more

When I finally got through to a human, I asked for a refund of unused months. She refused. Beware if you're considering hiring this company that you are locked into an annual contract. The reason they do so is that then they won't stand behind the inferior service that they provide. I hired Superior to provide pest & weed control for my yard in addition to fertilization. After 6 months under Superior's "management" of my lawn, what remains of my actual grass was completely choked out by weeds that completely took over my yard. Weeds completely took over my lawn under Superior's care. My lawn would have better served to have no care vs. paying this company. I spent a backbreaking week pulling weeds by hand from my yard in order to attempt to allow my remaining grass to come back to life. When contacting Superior with my issues & dissatisfaction, I was referred to the manager, Rich Lagasse, who refuses to offer me a refund of the remaining 6 months of the contract & will not let me out of the contract. He just states repeatedly that there's nothing he can do other than to enforce the contract. I met with Massey & they offer a month to month contract & they stand behind their work & will not force you to remain stuck with them if you are displeased with the service. For anyone out there in The Villages who is looking for care of your lawn, don't hire this company. I wish I had done more research because I made a huge mistake & am throwing my money down the toilet while my lawn continues to degrade further & further each month Superior is "caring" for it. Run away from them as fast as you can & hire a company that knows what they are doing that will stand behind the work not a contract so that your lawn will not be destroyed. I have 1800 pest control also know as superior. Weeds are out of control. I water as told. They come once of month and spot spray the weeds and another grows beside it the next day. As time went on our lawn became more infested with weeds and Alexander grass. I've had Superior Services at two houses. I consider their pest control side of the business to be pretty good. No issues there at all. The lawn and ornamental services have not been good. Seems like every time a tech showed up they didn't have the chemicals we needed for the house. Was told every time they'd get it on the next trip. They also don't service all the houses in the neighborhood on the same visit: seems to me there are issues with managing that side of the business. I'd say they are good on the pest side, but a no go for lawns and ornamental services. read more

We've dropped them after several years. They were good at first but now it seems we get a new guy every couple of months. We noticed the weeds were thriving after treatments. When we called to have a supervisor come out and talk with us, it took a week and half before anyone could give us 10 minutes to see our issues.That's unacceptable. I was home during the last treatment and watched the guy spray a 6 ft path across 15 ft of grass. He even missed portions within that 6 ft! I am not pleased with the service provided today. To start, I have a contract with this company for pest control and lawn care but after today I will not renew that contract. I added the irrigation after a salesperson from the company (which knew I had 11 zones) convinced me to add the irrigation to my service. I was informed that the start up was 295.00 and they would come out and check all my sprinkler heads and adjust them. If there were any broken they would be fixed. I double checked with the company if this was correct and they agreed it was. The earliest they could come out was two weeks after I paid the fee. Today they came out, one girl did not know about the system (she was in training). The other individual stayed on the phone after the girl in training informed her I had 11 zones. so for 25 minutes I stood there waiting on them. Then I was informed because I had more zones than 5 it would be more money. I was never informed when I purchased that they would only check 5 zones, so I told them since they had done nothing to refund my money. She stated her supervisor said since it had been over 3 days since I paid they would not refund. I explained that they could not come out with in 3 days. I tried their lawn care service for 2 years. I thought the killing off process was due to weeds so I hung in there, but after 2 years, almost all that is left of my lawn are weeds and dead patches. I wAtered when instructed to do so, and we watered during the dry season.
