Well, with the very rainy season this caused an issue despite his valiant effort to keep the roof safe from the wind and rain. He went to the trouble of getting special permission to go over and secure the area again to protect it from the rains and winds, all the while being harassed by people driving by and witnessing his working. Summer/Fall 2024 Our…read morehome near South Beach in Edgartown needed to be painted this past summer (2024), and small segments of rotted wood needed replacement. As nearly half-century summer visitors, we have been challenged by rising prices and difficulty performing any service work. As we left a restaurant one evening in Vineyard Haven, we saw a truck with the logo "A-Zeke Painting." I snapped a photo and called several days later. The owner of A-Zeke answered his phone, and one of his foremen evaluated our home in the next few days. A very reasonable estimate (for the Vineyard) followed; replacing rotted wood and other carpentry work was extra and billed by the hour. Work commenced a few weeks later. A crew of workers descended upon our home, scraping, priming, and painting. The dedication and care these workers brought to their jobs impressed my wife and me the most. When they scraped and painted windows or doors, they carefully removed any paint spilled. They cleaned up after themselves at the end of each day. When they broke a screen from our porch while removing it, they repaired it carefully. Importantly, they were always helpful and respectful! The carpenter did a superb job of replacing rotten wood. Our home is near South Beach and experiences a continuous stream of moist sea air. The carpenter and his assistant completely reconstructed the exterior of a bay window that had rotted, repaired and resized swollen screen doors, and replaced rotten molding. It was the most painless & pleasant painting/renovation experience in our nearly 50 years on the Vineyard. From the earliest stages of the project he was prompt, extremely organized and best of all, attentive to what I actually wanted. John and I worked to design my dream kitchen within our budget and he returned with a binder with renderings and detailing every step of the process (all before I actually signed my contract with him). This was important as the project was to be started and completed during our absence from the Cape during the winter months. I made several additions and changes along the way and even decided to have him renovate our 1/2 bath while he was working here, as well as build a hall entry area. John was in touch throughout the entire project, sending pictures frequently and communicating whenever there were choices or issues to discuss. My husband and I returned to the Cape in late May to the completed kitchen, 1/2 bath, and entryway and they were everything I'd planned and envisioned.
