Superica has been one of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta and I was so excited to learn that there's a location in Charlotte as well! The Strawberry Hill location in particular is our go to when we're craving TexMex. The service here is 10/10, it's easy to make a reservation & the vibe is always good. We made a reservation to go to Superica on a Friday night. I'd recommend making a reservation, as it seems quite busy. The vibes were top notch. The place is massive and has great decor. Our waitress was so kind and fun! She got us doing tequila shots. It was a perfect Friday night dinner spot. The food came out in a reasonable time, but the drinks did take a while to get to us (4 people). However, I understand this since they were quite busy. Everyone's entrees were very good! I got the beef picadillo enchiladas and I loved them! The chili sauce was delicious. The entrees come with unlimited rice and beans which is so awesome. It also comes with unlimited chips and salsa. In addition to this, we got the queso as an appetizer to share and it was sooooo good! Some of the best queso I've had for sure. My husband and I frequent Superica's SouthEnd location, and decided to try their Strawberry Hill location since we were shopping in the area. We love the interior of the SouthEnd location, and we're excited that Strawberry Hill's was similarly designed (albeit a little smaller footprint inside). The best part, though, is that Strawberry Hill has FREE parking. That alone is a good enough reason for us to drive a bit further to revisit this location. We started with their chorizo queso dip, a favorite of ours. We also tried their $15.99 lunch special, with two items and rice and beans. I forgot to take photos, but everything was amazing. My husband had his typical two cheese enchiladas, but I tried one cheese enchilada and their bean nachos (which comes with guac and sour cream). I'll definitely get that again. There were only two servers working the dining room, but they did a great job. Our server was especially friendly. I'm especially excited that they also serve breakfast at this location. Uggggg. I've tried so many times to like this place. When it first opened things were good. Fresh ingredients and well plated food. Little by little it's gotten worse. They've changed recipes and the portions are smaller, yet prices are higher. Don't even get take out! The food will be cold, and greasy!! Absolutely horrible. The chips were dripping in oil and the condiments were shoved into a small container. 3 pieces of quesadilla for $26- are you kidding me?? Queso was salty!! Over seasoned and just gross. Went here with friends on a Sunday night for the first time. A mix of families and couples and adults. Service was outstanding (wish I could remember our lovely waitress' name), as she answered questions really patiently and went the extra mile. The summer special watermelon margarita was super-delish (if I hadn't been driving, I could have had way too many of those). We always have great service when we go to Superica. I enjoyed the margarita mocktail and the guacamole was tasty. The chips that come with the guac were SO greasy. I actually didn't eat those, and just reached for the regular chips that came with the salsa instead. I have fond memories of going to Superica 7-8 years ago and LOVING the chicken suizas enchiladas. Ah-freakn-Maze-Balls. I came, and Devin served us right. She was so engaging. The food was phenomenal. I low-key was worried cause it was gringo city. I just knew the food would be basic Texmex. But ahhhh, it had seasoning. You hear me they used seasoning. Rice, usually the most boring basic dish, was phenomenal. It was so flavorful and infused with a sultry smokey flavor. The beans were bomb, too. I was flabbergasted. The meat was moist, tender, smoked, and piled high. We got a Pollo Quesadilla, Barbacoa Taco, and Steak Fajitas. Can we say fire! The salsa is good too it has a nice smokey flavor a bit runny, though. They make their own in-house soft tortillas. Lastly, the Tres Leche is delicious. Price was 20 dollars for three tacos with three tiny shrimp in each. One of the shrimp was clearly more than a few hours old being held under a heat lamp or a warms water dish. Not worth it in any way. I guess they have steep rent to pay because I can't see why else their prices would be so high. Again, maybe 3oz of shrimp and half a cup of beans for 20 dollars. As someone who lived in TX for 42 years, I finally found authentic TexMex food at Superica! Between living in Dallas and Austin, I got hooked on Mexican food and margaritas. It's basically a lifestyle in TX. After many disappointing meals and margaritas in the Charlotte area, I discovered Superica. Great service, excellent authentic food. The first tell is always chips and salsa - they do it right. A great smoky red and a verde- light, thin crisp chips. Excellent margaritas served in a proper glass, all fresh ingredients, none of that premade sugary crap. I had the beef nachos which were perfection. I'm in love with this place. The Strawberry Hill location represents the second in the Charlotte area and I was able to come in for dinner recently with a group of friends. The decor definitely reflects the Tex Mex roots of the restaurant but with rock music videos playing in the background and a contemporary vibe it is far from your typical Mexican restaurant. I'm very fond of their queso dip and the chips always come out fresh. For my entree I last tried the enchiladas. While their food is certainly good I find that it is a little overpriced. If I was hankering for Mexican food I feel like there are other options that are far cheaper. Superica on the other hand is a solid option for a night out with friends. I'm a particular fan of their cocktail "The Matador" but if you are feeling a margarita it is hard to go wrong with any on their menu. read more

I think I'm getting so old that I don't even remember what used to be in this spot... in either case, Superica and it's 2nd Charlotte location (the first being in Southend) is serving up their familiar menu. Started with OG Margaritas and it's hard to top those (except if you just get tank of that stuff). Our server Emily, was super friendly and we decided to skip the apps and go right into the mains. I had the Chile Relleno and the chips with all the salsas were perfect for a mid-week dinner stop. According to yelp, they didn't open until 5 and we got there right at 5 past, however the restaurant was filling up so they must have adjusted their hours. There were a smattering of folks at the bar, lots of tables with young families (I appreciate the early dinner since the kids have to go to bed sometime ;)) Overall a nice experience in one of the "older" shopping centers in town. Plenty of parking, but watch out for that rush hour traffic on Fairview and Providence... traffic moves, but when you want chips and salsa, it doesn't not move quite as fast as you want it to. read more

Superica is a super find if you're looking for Tex-Mex (or Mex-Tex, as they consider themselves). Entree portions are large - we got the picadillo enchiladas and the chicken chalupas - and you'll likely have leftovers. I especially loved the two house-made salsas with fresh chips (provided complimentary) and queso (the best I've had in Charlotte!). These were perfect and paired nicely with the ginger margarita I ordered. Service was great, and they even provided us with a fresh bag of chips and salsa to take home with us when we asked for more chips to go with our leftovers. The food here is so good it tastes like real authentic Mexican. The service here is decent. They do charge you for guac but its good. The ambiance is interesting for Mexican it's modern, but it has projectors playing Spanish bands. My quesadillas were very good would highly recommend. read more

I've dined here a handful of times and the food was always good, but these last couple visits were so wonderful that I feel I owe a review! For the first time I ordered the short rib. It was OUTSTANDING!!! I was hesitant at first because the menu just said chipotle rubbed short rib $40 and I was wondering if it was just going to be a plate of meat or come with some veggies or sides. It came with so much- tortillas, guac, slaw and the best surprise: a small bowl of amazing bean stew. It was definitely enough food for two people to share. The cocktail game here is strong as well. I had the seasonal old fashioned and it was the perfect balance of spicy and just a tad sweet. I usually go with the ginger margarita because the garnish of candied ginger makes me happy :) What has always kept me coming back is their salsa verde, queso, and chicken suizas enchiladas- all solid choices! The one thing this place can improve on is speakers- they always have cool concerts playing on the big screen, but need some surround sound to help the vibe. This is my favorite Mexican in Charlotte. I love their lunch menu where you can pick a couple different entrees to try together. I love the chicken enchilada verde and the carne asada tacos! My husband loved his fajitas. We came during Dry January and they have 7 different non alcoholic drinks to choose from. This is one of the best mocktail menus I have seen in Charlotte. We were here last on Mother's day because we also wanted to see our family friend Miguel, who sadly departed this earth on May 19th, he was a bartender at Superica and a long time family friend. This was our second dinner here over the past couple of months. We arrived ten minutes before opening (at 4:50) and immediately joined the line outside the entrance. Although we were seated in a few minutes, this visit was not worth the wait, I am sorry to say. Service was again friendly and attentive, however, our entrees appeared to just be thrown together, military mess hall style. Before our first visit, I was concerned about this, as a very reliable Yelper had stated this was an issue for her when compared to the Worthington Ave location. But on our first visit we did not find that to the case. Like that visit, I went with the basic Chicken Enchiladas Verde combo. This visit my wife ordered the same. Not only was it just thrown together, the rice was severely overcooked and lukewarm, the beans tasted like water, there was very little Verde sauce and the pico de gallo topping was barely noticeable, slung on the side. It was what you'd expect from any of our dozens of run-of-the-mill Mexican restaurants in town, and although taste-wise it wasn't horrible, it is certainly not what you'd expect from a place that gets a whopping 16 bucks for such a Tex-Mex staple. The Mexican salad that we started things off with however was fresh and delicious, and again the complementary chips and dip was as good as it gets. We may return, but the zeal we felt after our first visit is gone. I'd still say that, based on the overall product, if you haven't been, it is worth giving it a shot; however, it is no longer on my Gotta-Try list. read more

Best Tex-mex in the area by far. Having grown up in Texas during my elementary school years, I know what Tex-mex is really about. Every time I go to visit my sister in Texas, the first thing we do is grab some Tex-mex. Superica is the closest you can come to good Tex-mex in Charlotte. Texans, it's still not the same, but it's the best we got here. The chips are light and crispy. I like the variety of salsas they bring to you and even like to combine them at times. I've had the fajitas, tacos, and chile relleno. All of which are delicious. But the best thing they have here is the lunch special on Monday-Friday. You can choose 2 items from a list of great options. I usually get an enchilada and taco al carbon. Also, you gotta grab a frozen marg to make the meal complete. read more

First of all, I LOVE the original Superica restaurant at Southend. Not only does it offer great ambiance with striking interior design, complete with a large screen featuring movies, not sports (YaY!), it offers amazing food and drinks...topped with solid presentation and service. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for this new location near Southpark. We arrived super-early for dinner (before 5 pm!), with plans to eat outside, on their patio, which had heat lamps. However, upon arriving, we realized that it was too damn cold and windy...so we reluctantly headed indoors. The place had a nice, spacious layout with high ceilings, but seemed smaller than the original location. Also, unlike the other location, this one looked more standard, cookie-cutter...and less colorful. I also didn't care for the Country Western music overhead at this location. They DID practice Covid measures, but some of the tables in the middle of the floor seemed a bit too close to be 6 feet distancing. We requested the semi-booth in the front, by the window...where the sun shone thru brightly (where my husband felt was the safest). BTW, the service was good...our waitress was friendly, and seemingly on top of things. The problem was the food and the presentation. I ordered the Puffy Taco Dinner, a meal that I absolutely loved at the Southend location. Well...here's the deal. There was a night and day difference in this same plate...see both of my pictures (one from Southend, one from this Southpark) before you think I'm being harsh. Sadly, the supposed 3 Puffy Taco Shells were simply incomplete at this Southpark/Strawberry Hill location. They basically gave me 1 full Puffy Shell and the other 2 were cut in half (or maybe 2 were deflated, flattened shell??)...so the supposedly "puffy" top shells were missing! It's as if they deliberately smothered these partially puffy shells with greens so that I wouldn't notice that the top part of the shell was missing lol! As if that wasn't disappointing enough, the rice tasted like something from El Cancun (very soggy!), and barely there (maybe 2 spoonful?). Majority of the sides were beans...and I'm just not a fan of beans. The overall presentation of this plate was nearly funny. Again, just look at the 2 pictures of the "Puffy Taco Dinner" I've attached (it's supposedly the same dish, but it was vastly different in quality!). Just looked like they literally threw some lettuce and springs on an already sloppy-looking plate, primarily beans and greens. I've always thought Mexican food had a tendency to look sloppy, but the way they threw things together here basically proved my point. A total sloppy mess...very unappetizing at that! Maybe I was turned off from the moment the plate hit the table, but I just didn't think any of it tasted that great either. My husband seemed to like his Chile Rellano better than I liked my so-called puffy tacos...but again, the presentation of his dish looked like a big, sloppy green mess as well. All I can say is they need to work on better, quality presentation at this location. This is "SUPERICA"...not El Cancun. Honestly, I couldn't tell the difference! Very disappointing to say the least. If this is indeed the norm at this location of Superica, it's shocking. Think I'll stick with the Southend location. read more
