me and my friends came to grab some bits for halloween when workers were following us around this shop making it very uncomfortable to even shop there. grabbing my bits and my friend going to make her way to the till but realised i'm not done yet then for her to come back and wait for me, a worker came over to us accusing all of us stealing, first off all we was not at the doors and it was very obvious that we looked like we was on our way to the tills to pay, i'm disappointed about this, thinking i could quickly come in grab my stuff and then walk over to my train, but no i had to walk to the superdrug in arndale, with is 10 times nicer and has a lot more workers that aren't rude, causing me to miss my train meaning i had to wait for the next train which was 48 minute wait and having to pay for my tickets again. may i also add they said if we enter the shop again we have been threatened they will call the police on something we have not done, it doesn't even help that they haven't checked any cameras before coming over to us. next time i would rather have a response by them saying if it's okay to go to the back and check the cameras with them. i was in a shock on what was going on i didn't even speak because i didn't do anything i was confused what was happening, don't come to this store again until there's better workers

Let's be honest: No-one is ever going to walk into Superdrug and be blown away by the experience. Whilst Boots try to create a serene and welcoming environment with shiny white walls, white floors and individual beauty counters for different concessions like Clarins and Benefit, Superdrug is a no frills beauty store. The lights are bright, the signage is bold (black and shocking pink) and there's no distinction between the areas stocking expensive moisturisers, serums & hand creams and the ones stocking wet wipes and tampons. Luckily, the prices more than make up for the bad decor and loud music with most toiletries being significantly cheaper than Boots or other stores. In general the staff tend to be friendlier and more down to earth too.

Superdrug, it's a super drug. I remember when I was a youth and first heard the name super drug, now back then in my immaturity drug was a word with bad connotations, "they do drugs there mum?" "No Thomas not drugs that are harmful but ones used for their medicinal value"... took me a while to grasp this statement. Many years later I'm writing this review struggling to try and think of anything to tell you about a superdrug. It's a pharmacist, you buy plasters, paracetomol there?.......... I think they do sandwiches as well.

Superdrug is great when you want to buy a shampoo or daily toiletries, but I would not recommend it for makeup or perfumes because the collection there is nothing compared to Boots. Super drugs is more like your local convenient store where you can just drop by when you are running out of tissue wipes, shampoo, body creams etc. I am not going for more than 3 stars because I am not the biggest fan but this store definitely solves the purpose. I have had good and bad experiences here, Good: I get my eyebrows shaped here all the time because its cheap, quick, no appointments needed and the woman does a decent job. I get my shampoos from here well I guess you can find John Freida anywhere really. It is a 5 minutes walk away from my house so extremely handy. Bad: I once bought a straightener from here and it does not work! (boohoo). Thank god I didn't spend a fortune on it. Verdict: Its worth going to when you are planning to buy your monthly toiletries.

Enormous choice and decent prices. I prefer to the main Boots store on Market Street.

Though it's always, always great to have these services offered for free and with very little judgement, so close to halls, she did take exception at having to sit in the 'Corner of Shame'; two green chairs surrounded by leaflets. Anyway, Corner of Shame aside, this Lloyds sells everything you'll ever need, and almost always has deals on bubble bath. I swear the whole time this was my local pharmacy, Herbal Essences were on BOGOFs. They also stock all the, er, flavours of dry shampoo. The staff are all helpful and knowledgeable, and will give great advice on the cold/flu remedies, as well as other non-prescription sutff. As far as prescriptions go, they are efficient and quick, and when I ran out of the pill in first year, and didn't have time to go to the doctor, they happily dispensed me another pack (though at a charge) on the strength of past prescriptions etc. I thought this was a really nice touch; and it shows how helpful and nice the staff are.

I've never had one, but my mate did, a quick visit to Lloyds a month later and he was fine. Not for me that, I'm a stable man. Merely entering the Arndale brings on acute anxiety and feeling of want to end it all. Dr.Herbs sells Chinese remedies for everything from spots to lower back pain to anxiety. I am all for natural, organic foods but forgive me if I am a little cynical when it comes to herbal healing. I myself suffered a slipped disc three years ago in my lower back and if I am honest not even morphine substitutes could relieve pain ...it took keyhole surgery to eventually fix it! If only I had known that a few herbs would have relieved the chronic pain I was in ....hmmm. In some situations I understand that anything is worth a try. When my Friend was trying to quit smoking she tried everything and anything, however in the end it was good old fashioned will power and not the power of some flower :)

Modern science couldn't do it, heck Kerry Katona and all her millions couldn't do it but a little outlet in the fucking Arndale centre can keep us all thin and sane- at this rate they'll have an infomercial on a cable channel in no time!

The regeneration of Hulme in the late'80's and early '90's brought many invaluable businesses to…read morethis area and facing Hulme market, Afro World is one of them. I am a curly girl with tresses which vary from sleek and shiny on a good day, to a frizzy halo- depending on the weather. Although certain high street chains and chemists have woken up to the fact that yes, we are a multicultural Britain with a diverse population who have individual needs, their range of products for people of colour can be very limited. This is not a political rant, it is a cold, hard, consumer fact. Afro World is a saving grace and "limited" is not a word that applies here. Having entered its hallowed doors, you have never seen so many hair and skin products in your life! There are rows and rows stocking brands such as Soft n Free, Dark n Lovely, Ultra Sheen and Pink, to name but a few- seriously the shop sells hundreds of them. The name of this store is a tad misleading as this mecca also sells makes for European and Asian hair types. You can buy a good quality real hair wig for only £29, extensions, and curly or straight pony tails line the shelves and offer you the ability to alter your appearance every day of the week. Handy for Geminis or international spies. The owners really know their stock inside and out. This is an incredible talent, considering how many lines are sold there, and they are always on hand to give you help and advice. Not many men ( with the obvious exception of hairdressers) are able to discuss with you whether you suit a wavy weave or a head full of corn rows in a truly macho fashion. Afro World also sells a good range of make-up for Asian and Afro-Caribbean skin and various hair accessories . It is open Mon-Sat 9am-6pm and on Sunday from 11am-5pm. Be aware that the shop is closed for prayer on Fridays from 1.30-2.30pm. So if you fancy a wicked weave, exceptional extensions or just need to stock up on your Kirby grips then this shop has it all.
