Two things got worried me. First, entrance door has been lock and we were let in by staff once he identified us over the window. Second, there was only a single guy (a member of staff) sitting in the glass protected booth. Didn't give us the "safest place in Dublin" feeling. Tables are nice and tidy, tho. There's second level with few more tables. We ended up going to Planet Murphy's, which appeared to be degraded even more since my last visit. But still, a good value and no trouble there.

About half a mile along the road you will come across the Strawberry Hall or 'Straw hall' as we used to call it. This is a very quaint Irish Pub and definitely a find. Frequented at the weekends by bikers and locals - the Straw Hall is a family owned traditional Irish Bar. It is also the only(?) place in Dublin where you can still play bagatelle - a 17th century french billiard game - if I am not mistaken. Pints are cool, food is minimal enough - toasted cheese sandwiches are always good and a really great place for a pint on a cold winters day.
