So whats new about Shimmers, well to start with its in easy walking distance from home, its situated on a busy main road, but has off street parking. Its predominately its aimed at women, but they do cater for us guys, who like to just walk in for a quick trim. The salon is fresh and bright, and has a separate hair washing and treatment area, My wife is now a regular there, and me; well if having your hair cut when it needs it, then i must be a regular too.

My first visit the Boutique Salon in Upminster was early last year and have been a devoted customer ever since. I'd rather skip a cut than go anywhere else. You're made to feel instantly welcome with a pot of tea, a comfy sofa and all the latest glossies to flick through. For me the one thing (other than the amazing hairdresser) that sets the salon apart is its incredible decor- exactly the kind of style I love with antique style tables, mirrors and chairs.To sum it up the salon is complete elegance, you feel instantly more expensive just being there but, thankfully the cost for a wash, cut and blowdry is extremely reasonable for prices today at just over £30. I remember I once visitied the salon late after work (the salon stays open late on certain days of the week) and was not only welcomed with a complimentory glass of wine but a 'glass conditioning therapy' which was part of the salon's customer loyalty scheme. Despite being the last cut of the day I was treated as though I was the first (although wine may not have been so readily supplied at 8.30am!). I've always felt thoroughly valued as a customer by Naz and the team and always look forward to my next visit. My welcome was warm by both Olivia and Naz and I realised that I had made the right decision. The Boutique is just as described, very modern and tastefully decorated. One of the better things about it is that the music is lovely, a reasonable sound and music one recognises at any age! Naz is lovely, very helpful and explained exactly what she thought was best for my hair. When she had finished, I was really happy with it, she has cut it so well. I will be returning and will be happy that I have found somewhere where I feel comfortable and appreciated (unlike the Hair Lounge in Ardleigh Green Road).

Upon entering you'll notice that (also implied in it's name) it is a sports themed barbers…read more Seemingly hundreds of portraits, paintings and photographs are flooding the walls of the shop. Many appear to have autographs meaning it can spur conversations to whether they are real or not but it makes the barbers feel cluttered and messy not stylish and regal like more modern barbers are. The decor in the shop is yellow themed and the seats consist of, what appear to be, straw chairs. Which are reasonably comfy. There was a cue and I was waiting their for roughly 15 minutes as their was only a single staff member at the time. Altough when I think about it, I've only ever seen about 1-2 staff members their at one time. So cues (notably on weekends) are near unavoidable. Hotshots Barbers is essentially a "get the job done" barbers. Don't expect a conversation with the staff, however, the end result is good, but more complicated looks may be troubling. It's very cheap though, mean it's great for people who just want a haircut, nothing flashy and are on a tight budget.

The staff are really fast and skilled at what they do and offer up great conversation. Hair cuts are really cheap and average at about £8.50 for a standard cut (or £5 for a single crop) If you are in need of a haircut, and are in the area, you know where to go. Hotshots.
