I hadn't been in a Supercuts for several years so I was a little apprehensive using their services since my regular salon shut down a few month ago. I made an appointment with Danny, showed him a photo of the type of haircut I wanted and he went to work. It was obvious to me that Danny takes pride in his work as I left with a great haircut. Decent haircuts at a fair price. The folks working here are very nice. They just have to do something about the cigarette smoking. Half the time the hands working on you are super smoke smelling; I can actually smell it in my hair every few minutes afterwards... I tend to need to go home and shower before I get on with my day... My husband has been a patron of Supercuts for 5 years now. Last week, we took our son to get his hair cut and had one of the most unbelievably terrible experiences. My husband went inside without me, and please mind that he is NOT visibly Muslim. My husband said his experience setting our son up for his hair cut in the system with the employee, Gladys, did not raise any flags. She treated him as she should normally treat a customer. After my husband set up my son for his appointment, he went back to our car and I took my son inside to get his hair cut with me while we waited for my husband to come back. As soon as we entered the shop, I felt uncomfortable and unwelcome by Gladys. I wear a hijab, I speak English, I am visibly Muslim. Not only did she NOT treat us how a business should treat its PAYING and loyal customers, but she also was passive aggressive. My son is 5 1/2 years old and touched one of the swivel seats in an EMPTY salon. I understand my son should not have been touching stuff, but Gladys took it upon herself to threaten my son even after I had already told him to not touch ANYTHING and made sure she heard me correct my son. She yelled at him and threatened that if he touched anything else she would kick him out and will not cut his hair or my husbands hair. I was taken aback, surprised at her reaction to my son simply touching a swivel chair. It was obvious she did not want to tend to us in the first place. My son simply turning a chair was her excuse to be let her hate out. I asked her two times, giving her the benefit of the doubt, if she was kidding yelling at my 5 year old son that way. Her response, both times, were extremely rude and aggressive. She raised her tone and told me she wasn't kidding and that it was her job to yell at my son. I understand it is her job to make sure that the salon is orderly, and sure, had she corrected my son in a non aggressive way, I would've understood. But she did not even give him a warning before yelling and threatening us. She simply could've said, please do not touch anything because it is unsafe in a mannered way. I got a good energy from her even from when she answered the phone, which is something I actually take into consideration - I like when the stylist is friendly and seems to appreciate customers. She did a great job helping me choose the right color and cut. She gave me great advice for upkeep as well. Let me start by saying, I visit a Supercuts location once a month. My hair is super long and I need an inch or two trimmed off the end quite often. I just get a wash and a straight cut across the bottom. I like Supercuts as a chain, it's simple, relatively cheap and I can usually walk in without much of a wait. Today's experience however wasn't very pleasant. The stylist didn't greet me with her name or ask me how my day was. She simply said, "shampoo?" I felt more like I was at a car wash than a hair salon. She was rough and pulled my hair. She just lifted my head around like it wasn't attached to a person... Next, we moved to the chair where she combed my hair without even looking at me. Not a single word or smile the entire time. She then says "how much do you want to cut?" After arguing briefly over what 2 inches looks like, she sarcastically tells me she can get out a ruler and measure... nice. Overall this was a poor experience, the stylist was just unpleasant from beginning to end. Did she manage to cut a straight line? Yes. But it's pretty difficult to mess up. Normally there is never a wait, but they have a service you can call in and your space is reserved. The salon is always very clean and the hairdressers are always open for your input on how you want your hair done. I have used Gladys and she is excellent. I am from the east coast so the CA sun and harsh water dried out my hair. It was so bad I literally had a massive tangle and could not brush without yanking on my hair. Anyway I needed my hair cut ASAP as in now and I called a few other paces and guess what a trim would be close to $200! I almost fell out of my chair. Anyway I asked Nicole- a LA local, where the heck could I just get a trim for under $100. She said SuperCuts. So I thought fine ok. Note to east coast people if they don't list the price assume it's high. Don't just get a cut without knowing the price. Anyway SuperCuts could see me that day and I even called ahead so they could put my name down for noon. It is walk in only so they don't really do appointments, but you can call ahead and see how busy it is and they can put your name on a list. Anyway Ruby was the hairdresser who not only trimmed my hair for $22 she also gave me some awesome hair tips. She told me only 10% of her clients are females-most are men. So, if you are looking for a quality cut I highly recommend Ruby. Ruby's Hair Tips: 1. Brush hair ends first to get out the tangles 2. Use a brush with little balls at the end to stimulate the scalp 3. When you brush-after you have detangled start from the scalp and be gentle 4. Same when you use shampoo be gentle 5. Get your hair trimmed every 28 days...don't wait too long. Even if you come in for an eighth of a trim cut those split ends. So what happens when you wait too long to get a cut? You get split ends that continue up on up and get split ends upon split ends. I was in and out in like 30 minutes. It's more to get the hair styled/shampoo/blow dry and I had places to be. Anyway, I will definitely get my hair cut more when I get back to the east coast and I highly recommend "it's a 10" a miracle leave in plus keratin. Thanks Ruby! read more

Not only is it super affordable (particularly on Tuesdays), but it's also conveniently located right next to Best Buy, Target, and Bevmo so you can shop while you wait, or after your haircut. Gladys has been my hair stylist for the last year and she's been absolutely wonderful! She's super attentive to detail and a joy to talk to as well! Ok so I get it. Its a 25 dollar haircut. You really get what you pay for. The salon is clean, the staff is friendly, the wait is short and the price is cheap. HOWEVER, the haircut you get will be botched if you're a woman. I was in desperate need of a trim so I thought why not give it a go how bad could it be. Well, it could be better but it also could be worse. The woman sat me down and I told her just a trim, I'd like to keep the length. She did great everywhere except for my "bangs" and by bangs I mean the hair closest to my face that happened to be a little shorter than the rest of my hair. I have no clue what she did but she chopped them off in such a way that it doesn't blend with my hair anymore. She also insulted my hair color which was super nice of her. Got highlights and a layered trim from Mariam today since my regular hair colorist has been having a lot of health issues lately and hasn't been as reliable. Mariam did an excellent job and I opted for a hair moisturizing treatment as well, b/c the prices are so good at Supercuts. I paid half what I usually pay for cut and color in West LA and I'm happy with the results. I like how quiet this salon is. It seems like mostly men popping in for haircuts and there's hardly any sound except for KEarth playing on the radio. I love not having to chit/chat when I'm getting my hair colored, and I'm thinking about coming back b/c the parking is easy at this location and it seems simple to schedule appointments. I went there last Sunday and oh, what a mistake. I asked for a bang and to jut cut about 2 inches on my ends. The bang was an extremely, EXTREMELY, bad idea. And I feel bad because the young woman was very nice but this haircut is not good at all. First, I asked for a bang not too short because my hair - even if I use iron on it - will go up in a strange kind of way and it will look terrible. She told me okay and was doing her thing, when she was about to cut I asked her again not to do it too short. I also explained to her that it was okay that the bang would go over my glasses because I would put it on the side anyway. Well, it ended up way, way too short. I have thin hair so it just look desperately horrible. I also asked for the hair on the side to be cut in like a cascade way so it would not be the bang and then very long hair on both side. That was not done either. The bang is not straight, there's some bit longer then others, once again I have thin hair so it really looks bad. So I know, hair grows, but I've been coming from very far to have healthier hair and it's really, really, really disappointing. Especially when I showed a picture of the exact haircut I wanted. First time I cut my hair in a year and it doesn't even look nice. On top of it, my hair are so dry now, like never before. I don't understand what she did, it's just horrible. Also, little tip: don't tell your customer it's okay that you messed up because the hair will grow in two weeks. That's rude. The quietest supercuts I've ever been to. I usually get my haircut at the ramada location but I was too lazy to drive that direction, especially when my regular guy wasn't there. I called ahead on a Sunday and arrived on time and was sitting down for my haircut shortly after. It was the quietest haircut ive ever had. The lady cutting my hair hardly spoke to me, except to ask me how I wanted my haircut. I also noticed that the other staff members hardly spoke to their guests either. I'm guessing they're all no regulars. It was just much quieter than what I'm used to. Overall, I was very impressed with my haircut. She did a great job. Parking is free for an hour. There's no validation. The parking garage is shared with all the other businesses in the west Hollywood gateway center. read more

I clearly said I want a finger thickness of the top, she then proceeds to chop a huge chunk of my hair off, and just relentlessly chipping away with zero care, and ends up giving me a finger thickness total. She even tried to go deeper on it until I had to tell her to stop. My hair is now completely destroyed, I look like a just started basic training or something, total embarrassment that I have to wear a hat in public. Upon arrival, Gladys, looked at my hair and with total honesty explained how my hair would look with the highlights, the possible damage i would have due to my previous hair coloring, and suggested alternatives to what I was looking for. She spent the whole cut explaining to me ways to manage my hair type, hair care advice, styling advice, and taking time to make sure I knew what she was doing to my hair. Although I wanted highlights going in, I left without them happily, and I was so glad that I had someone as knowledgeable, respectful, and kind as her, and someone who communicated transparently the whole time. I came in with a pretty reasonable request: zero on the side, 4 on top, and middle fade. Can't be any more simple than that. Well, I just checked myself in the mirror... it is not good. This Supercuts is my go-to place, and it's, well, super. I've been to high-end salons that charge three times as much for a trim, but here the price can't be beat for some of the best haircuts I've had. Also--and maybe this is just the nature of my curly faded pixie cut--I'm always in and out in 20 minutes! The stylists here are lovely. They'll offer their suggestions but they're not at all pushy if there's something specific you want. Almost every time I've had Veronica, who I can't recommend enough for being attentive and sweet, and I've also had Salvador who is just as much of a gem and super professional. They both stopped every so often to make sure I was happy with certain features as they were working, and they were glad to make any changes when I asked.
