In my ongoing quest to find a solution to the Hair Problem, which is thus - a)I don't have much money to spend on haircuts b) My hair is a lions mane which needs regular, almost weekly trims to tame it. - I have ventured into SuperCuts. They must be the answer to my problem, right? They are cheap, ergo they are the solution! However, with all the add- ons, like wash and blow dry, they are still not cheap as chips cheap, and a haircut can add up to about £30.00. Also, I am not thrilled about the idea that I can't book. I know that this is the system, but that means that if I want my hair cut I have to sit and wait a really long time, usually in between school kids who look at me as if to say. 'Really, you can't afford a proper haircut?'. So, I have had a couple of cuts here, one of them was alright, but one time I was given something that resembled a truckers mullet, and no, Shoreditch people, I had not asked for an ironic hairstyle! Awful. I'm a guy, I asked for a pretty simple short back and sides, and paid £15 for it. That's a lot for a mans haircut. The woman who cut my hair either had some sort of motor neuron dysfunction, or had been drinking. She hacked at my head like a lunatic, bashing the clippers into the sides of my skull with wild abandon. She's left me with a distinct line in my hair on one side, and big tufts shooting out all over. At first I thought maybe this is just how the kids are wearing their hair these days, but after checking with my fiance she has confirmed that it's just a really terrible haircut. AWFUL. read more

What is the meaning of a haircut in 'supercuts' I really don't understand! They probably mean 'sitting on the chair'. My hair is barely shoulder length, very fine; it hardly takes me 1.5 minutes to dry it. I asked for trimming as I wanted to keep the length and layers towards the top for volume. If layers does not mean having your hair cut, what does? Why should I be charged for more than what is advertised? Does it mean that when they say shampoo and haircut it does not involve water?! What are their criteria of judgement really? I've had my hair cut in 'supercuts' before in other areas and never been charged any extra for what I personally do. Walked in this morning hoping to have a haircut - Not clear what the system is in this store - No-one standing at the counter - 4 staff cutting hair - Tried to make eye contact but nothing - Didn't want to disturb the other customers having their haircuts so sat down and waited hoping someone would come over and ask me if I needed any help or at the very least make eye contact and acknowledge me, but nothing - When I eventually did interrupt someone around ten mins later, I got a very rude and abrupt response "theres a sign at the front that clearly says register at the counter" she was pointing to a tiny sign above one of the mirrors out of any normal persons line of sight! When I explained that there was no one at the counter for over 10 mins her response was "we don't always man the counter" slightly confused by her instruction to register at a counter that was not manned, but didn't want to lower myself to her level or rise to the occasion, instead I simply asked her how long before I could be seen to which she pointed to the people that had just entered the store (long after me) and said after them. Me: "But I was here before them" She: "You didn't register at the counter" At which point I walked out... This is not how a business than relies on customer loyalty should treat its customers in 2015! I live and work locally, could have been a loyal customer and referred loads of friends and family to your store, instead I'm going to do the opposite, wouldn't want anyone else to have the same experience I did! Awful hair cut I had a long bob and wanted some off the length and said I only wanted it slightly layered at the back .i know she wasn't English but thought she understood what I wanted and at one point I did stop her and remind her of what I wanted .omg she just hacked away at my hair it looks dreadful I know I should have complained at the time but just wanted to get out of there I could have cut hair better where do they get there staff . I have been to Supercuts twice now and have been appalled both times. I am a student and have found it hard to find a nice hair salon around Kingston (where I'm originally from you can get a great wash, cut , blowdry and straighten in a decent salon for £18.) The first time I visited I thought I would give it a go as it advertised that a wash, cut and blow dry was £20.95 (with 'from' in VERY small letters) and once sat in the chair this soon escalated to £32. As a student I do get 20% discount so I thought nevermind, it's worth a go. I found the attitude of the stylist quite unprofessional as she seemed more interested in talking to the other customers than me, but I let it slide as the cut was pretty good. After my blowdry I was actually quite happy, but when I then asked her to straighten it, she looked at me as if I was mad and flatly refused, so I paid around £26 and left the salon with my hair looking terribly fluffy (my hair NEEDS to be straightened.) After this experience I did vow never to go again but after looking around and failing to find anywhere for the same price I returned a couple of weeks ago. This time I had a different stylist. I waited for around half an hour and when I was sat in the chair, I explained what I wanted and the stylist appeared very confused and REALLY didn't fill me with confidence that she knew what she was doing at all. I had such a bad feeling about it, I made an excuse and left. I am now booked in at Headmasters, which will cost £10 extra but I know I will get a good service. In short, in my experience the stylists are incredibly unprofessional, and if you were paying less than £20 for their services then fair enough, but when they are only marginally cheaper than the decent salons, it is a joke, read more

A reasonable haircut at a reasonable price if you don't mind the wait. Shame they are still ripping people off with a stealth charge of £3.95 for conditioner on top of a £24.95 cut and blow dry. Tell them you don't want the 'treatment' and then make sure it's not on the bill. read more

Im really annoyed with how they cut my hair and how poorly they listen to instructions or how rarely they asked for opinions. I even refered to a picture which they looked over once and never looked at again. The communication between the customer and the hairdresser was lacking throughout the process of the cut. I have a undercut hair style and I came in asking for the underneath part of my hair to be simply trimmed, the top part to be left alone except for a part that wasnt symmetrical on the right side underneath to the left. Whilst I feel okay about the sides of my hair, she still didnt sort out the part i had asked for her to do despite me mentioning it a couple times, the back is now so short due to the amount she kept shaving off and gave she me an unwanted side fringe with out consulting me when I specifically asked her to leave the top and when I protested, she simply replied with "im just reshaping". And now I'm left with extremely shorter hair than i would have liked and a bad fringe I cannot style. My hair is now more uneven then how it originally was. I paid the store and left disappointed and I'm half tempted to demand a refund. Not impressed at all. read more
