A week later I walked in (found out the hard way they now close earlier), and the guy (young kid with glasses) said the price I was given was still good. Told me to come back in 30 minutes, which I did. My phone was ready, and the phone button was fixed. As an added protection after reading some of the 1-star reviews, I asked them if they could save the broken part. I already knew what was broken (the metal "bubble" that makes a push button "click"), but just wanted proof they had replaced it. I guess as an added layer of protection, you can ask them to show you the part they will put into the phone, to prove they aren't just shimming something with a wad of paper. The guy had the "broken" pieces taped to my receipt, and also tested my phone in front of me for all functions. Maybe it's because all of my repairs have been "common", but so far it's 3 for 3 in terms of quality repairs. The only piece on my phone they've broken is a foam sticker inside, but that wasn't a big deal.

Fantastic service and reasonable price…read more I brought in my brother's iPhone while he was in hospital, and it was thoroughly screwed up. The down volume button was not working, which is also required with the power button to turn off. The lightning port was not working, so you could not charge or sync by cable. The ringer toggle switch was frozen in the off position so you could not hear if someone called or texted you. Basically it had experienced severe liquid damage from exceptionally sweet sugary liquid, and all that sugar had turned rock solid. The gentleman at VanCell diagnosed the issue on the spot. He suggested that the best fix was to replace the housing and charging port, which would be about 3 hours labour plus parts. By housing I mean the entire external part of the phone aside from the front glass, containing all the volume, power and ringer buttons. He literally had to open the phone, remove ALL the internal parts, re-install them in a new housing and then re-seal the entire device. That sounded pricey but the phone is relatively new and quite expensive. I was pleasantly surprised when he quoted me a net price of $190 pre-tax. It was closing time but he said he could do it the next day and have it done by afternoon. I picked it up at 4pm the following day and it literally looked and worked like a brand new phone. He had also thrown in a new screen protector to replace the cracked one I brought it in with. I had forgotten to bring the charging cord and block with me to bring to my brother, so I added them as well. The final bill for the parts and labour, screen protector, cord, charging block and tax was $240. That seemed extremely reasonable to me, as I'm an industrial electrician and would be billed out at WAY more than that for 3 hours labour plus materials. I live in New Westminster myself, but if I ever need work on my own phone I can't imagine ever going anywhere else. Everyone needs to know a few good, key trades people in life...a good plumber, electrician and mechanic, and in today's world of $1 to 2k flagship phones, a good smart phone technician. VanCell is that guy.

I really like how the owner is so passionate about his business by the way he described it on his website. To me, if you love what you do you'll just do it better so I went to check them out. I met Paul, the owner's brother. He explained the different screen protectors but not in a typical salesperson way. He was genuinely trying to educate me on my options. I picked the best protector, bought the warranty in case I drop my phone. They replaced my screen twice and also explained why it kept cracking. My phone protector was more fashion than function. I also left my other iPhone there for sale. It was sold! I noticed how they treat each and every one of their customer. They are so respectful and professional. People leave feeling great doing business here. I met Darcy the owner and I thank him for taking such good care of each and every one of my visit.

They're not replying to my emails and phone calls and they still have my property. I'm not confident I will ever get my phone back...and that's after I already paid them $200.
