First thing I need to say is THIS IS NOT AN UPDATE! (I mistakenly put my review of The days Inn in Lonoke, AR under this Days Inn in Carlisle which is actually where this property is! I knew this was an unusual decision for me, when I went into the office and the manager charged me $30 more than what it was listed for on the Internet. He did give me the Senile Citizen discount and as a note they charge $15 a night for dogs. ( reasonable in my opinion) I won't go into all the detail as to why we did not pre-book a hotel tonight. Anyway, the room had an odor to it that I was having trouble placing. For some reason I think it smelled a little like body odor, but not certain- I am very sensitive to smells -I do have to say - on the surface it looks fine!! Nice white sheets and the bed made, much like higher cost motels. The picture over the beds was awesome! ( it alone was worth one star!) Sadly the refrigerator was dirty inside, and I had a lot of difficulty getting it up to temperature. Within the first hour we had already killed a cockroach running across the floor. Yikes! ( but hot humid weather makes pests difficult at best.) And then I heard a child outside tell his mother that the white bugs in his bed were still there. Oh boy... Hoping it ain't so!! The bathroom could have used a deep clean. The shape and size of the tub was very nice. I did also enjoy the color scheme and the paint looked fairly recent. The drapery also looked new and there were no stains on it. I think if they would employ a routine extermination service and then give their cleaners a lesson in how to do a thorough bathroom clean and then hold them accountable this place could easily already be four stars! So why did I give it 4 Stars ****?????? I left my daily prayer books there by accident. I didn't realize it.... (Of course) until the next evening when we stopped. The following morning I called, and the same gentleman that I had checked in with answered the phone. I explained what had happened and asked if the housekeeper may have turned them in. Not valuable monetarily but of great sentimental value to me. He placed me on hold for a minute and returned to report he had them!!!! I was ecstatic. I told him we would be coming back thru in 3-4 weeks and I asked if he would hold them for me. He agreed. Today, I am on my way back to Texas and we stopped and his wife and little daughter started looking in several areas up front and located them for me. I thanked her and this was definitely above and beyond. Worth way more than 4 stars to me!!!! Thanks again for understanding and being so kind!!!!!!
