This place has what you need to be secure and comfortable. I'm here during a big snowstorm/ice age arctic freeze and my room is clean, warm, has plenty of nice updates, beautiful matching furniture, and a really cool vanity mirror! Guest services are very kind, and I appreciate the quiet and respectful behavior of the people staying here as well. By the time my week is up I will become an expert at making waffles, I hope. There's a trick, I just can't seem to remember it. I get to practice though! 6 -9 am every they have a functional Continental Breakfast. The hallway is a bit cold so put on a sweater when you leave the room for anything from the front desk. I'm about to head there now and ask about the laundry feature here, and where they have the ice machine. And also grab a newspaper. They have a menu for Jimano's Pizza up the hill printed on the back of their Cable Channel table tent, and those are good people. In the same mall you will find a very nice Chinese Family Restaurant. Also nearby is Brunch Cafe and Meat And Potatoes, in the other side of BP there is a taco place and another Italian place. All walking distance, just be careful pulling out onto Highway 31. It's a steep hill and you may have to wait a bit to merge. There's a reptile store just next door called Datz and I recommend you visit there. McDonald's is right beside the park path. Those are closer than anything. Plenty of local Churches and town isn't far away. I expect you to book here and enjoy your stay in McHenry County. read more

Do hotels need to provide a working tv? The staff here made a decent effort to make it seem like they didn't have any cable service they could help with. If the property can't afford their cable that might be a problem. The advertisement promotes tv and cable, But this is currently a false statement. I would not recommend this place. read more

we arrived at four in the morning because of the late fireworks, and after party. Made sure the front desk knew that we had a late check out at 1 PM. Manager said it was fine. No worries. 11 AM comes around. We got a HARD knock on the door with a CLEAR, DO NOT DISTURB sign. They opened the door! and we are butt naked, in the middle of doing the dirty.. This is an older hotel that could use some updates. Its located in a smaller town where there aren't a lot of choices. For me it was convenient and fit the bill as it was just for me to lay over and grab some shut eye and a shower. The rooms are all interior located so that is a good safety feature. They also offer continental breakfast which consisted of cold cereal, sweet rolls, oatmeal and waffles.....and of course coffee and tea. The room was clean, had good towels and television. The hotel isn't anything special. The room was clean enough but good enough to sleep in. Check out is at 11 and the front desk called my room twice, at 10:40 & 10:50 to make sure I was checking out. So I wasn't too happy about the customer service here. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. -I came to this area for a triathlon the next day and was told I could not bring my $10,000 racing bike into the room. My options were to leave it the hotel laundry room or my car. I've raced around the country and stayed at many Super 8's before and this has never been a problem. -The manager questioned my girlfriend and I several times if we wanted to share 1 queen bed. -The toilet was about to tip over and serious water stains all over bathroom walls. -The air conditioning unit made extremely loud/abrupt thumping sound as it would turn off/on by itself approximately every 20 minutes. We woke up to our heart pounding multiple times before ultimately turning the whole thing off on a 90 degree day. -Multiple times during the night other customers mistakenly tried it to open our door and the hallways were loud, again waking us up several times. Cyclists beware and don't stay here! Also if are looking for a good night's rest don't stay here. read more

He called me at 11 at night after I already canceled the booking a few minutes after booking it. then he charged my account and hung up on me twice after I asked him if why he charged my card. Paid nearly $200 for a single night in this scary hotel. Asked if we smoked, had a pet with us, and how many kids we had in our party. Proceeded to let us know smoking and pets were forbidden. The line of questioning was simply odd. Must be the type of folks that stay here. Funny thing is that the room and the entire hotel smelled like smoke and very very musty. Just plain stale musty air. The walls showed signs of moisture and the carpets were very dirty. If this was a $38 a night stay then fine. But having paid $195 really sets me off. The owner while not rude to us clearly knows that this place is a dump. Why so concerned about pets and smoke? Will NEVER stay here again. Would prefer to sleep in my car. Couldn't even bring myself to shower in this place. Took the family and left first thing in the morning. read more

In this economy, I don't feel comfortable trying to cancel anyone. The guy who checked me in DID help after my wife messed up the room online through a 3rd party. But that was the only plus side of it. There was mold on the shower head & on the shower curtain. I don't know if it was blood or coffee on the box spring of the beds but I didn't want to find out. I'm choosing to believe it was coffee. There were dried buggers on the wall near the phone & I was only given half a roll of toilet paper (I'm very grateful I always pack a couple rolls "just in case". The place looked & felt run down. The morning turn over was supposed to give me new sheets, new towels & through out the garbage but that didn't happen. They took the old & used towels but I had to go to the front desk looking for new ones. The dining are for the continental breakfast only had individually wrapped cheese Danishes & nothing else. It was difficult to sleep because I kept thinking I was going to be a part of a real life horror movie; it had a Rob Zombie/Bate's Motel vibe. The customer service kept looking at me suspiciously; so much so that I was given access to a side entrance & told to use only that entrance. No one was happy, smiling nor made me feel welcomed. It doesn't have to be The Ritz but it doesn't have to be a set up for an HBO Max series either. read more

The reception smells very strange and the female at the front desk would not take our empty coffee cup and monster can, she insisted we bring it to our room. She said she had no trash can! Unbelievable! But then it gets better, she tells us we can throw it away in the laundry room, takes us there, no trash can! So she finally agrees to take them! Glad we are NOT spending more than the night! Some kind of creepy crawly joined me in the shower this morning. Definitely not up to Super8 standards! read more

I should have known my stay at this Super 8 was going to be a bad one when I approached the checkin desk. While checking in the clerk first asked me if I was a smoker in which I replied yes. He informed me that the hotel was a non smoking hotel and that I would need to smoke outside. Odd that this was his first question but something that I have absolutely no problem with as I don't even smoke in my home and am aware that almost everywhere is non smoking. No Big deal. He then asked for my credit card and if I was leaving it open for my length of stay for any amenities. I told him to go ahead and just charge me now for my stay and close it out as I didn't need any additional stuff. He then asked, are you sure?? You do know there are no refunds! We don't offer refunds for rooms. I replied, I'm only staying two nights and only using the room to sleep in because I'm in town for a wedding. I received my room key and went to my room. Upon entering my room I was immediately able to tell that it had previously been smoked in and covered over with some sort of generic air freshener spray. I turned on the light and found that the room was still pretty dark so I turned on all the lights. Still very dim in the room. Looking at the bed I see cigarette burns in the bed spread and the pillows were no more that 2 inches thick. The phone was still labeled as a Holiday Inn Express. I lay down on the bed and a flying bug of some sort lands on my arm. I brush it off and think nothing of it at first. Within a few minutes there are over 50 of these flying ant looking things all over. Creeping me out and knowing there was no way I would be able to sleep in this room I took some pictures and head to the front desk. I tell the guy at the desk I need to move rooms because it is full of flying bugs and ants on the wall. In which he replies. No, there is no way it is like that. I proceed to show him the pictures and he then says well it's because you opened the window. If you open the window bugs will come in. I said I've never opened the window in which he replied your a smoker you had to open the window that's how the bugs came in. He then said I don't believe you and I am going to check your room. I was like fine lets go. He comes to my room and sees all the bugs and again accuses me of opening the window. Then proceeds to tell me that I have to keep the curtains shut as bugs are attracted to light. I then had had enough. I said to him you need to give me another room this is just ridiculous. His response: you just cost me $100! I was like excuse me??? Did you just say I cost you $100?? Your bug infested room just cost you a $100. He said, I told you no refunds. In which I said I'm not asking you for a refund, I'm asking you for a room that a human being could sleep in. He finally changed my room but was not happy about it. The new room was a little bit better. At least there were no flying bugs. But pray that there wasn't a fire..the smoke/fire detector had been ripped out/missing. Had to use a chair propped against the air conditioner to cool my beverages as there is no fridge in the room. I would highly recommend staying elsewhere. Even if it is a little further away from where you are planning to be. read more

This place is disgusting. Our room smelled, stained chair, stained yellow pillows and mattress pad, and cigarette holes in our blanket. Oh and we opened our window to air out the smell but there was no screen. I also don't bring conditioner because I assumed they would have some but they are so cheap that there is only shampoo and no ironing board so don't expect to iron your wrinkled packed clothing. There were a bunch of little bugs in the sink in the morning and a huge earwig on the shower curtain. I would only ever pay about 45 for a room like this and they charged $75. Pay the extra $10 and go somewhere else, anywhere but here. read more

I was staying at the hotel for one night on 04/29/17. I was staying there as it was closest hotel to where I was going for the evening. I am a wyndham rewards member, so I used points to get a discount on the room for the stay. I booked the room for 2 queen beds and 1 adult. I had a total of 2 people in party so the 2 beds were perfect for my stay. I got to the hotel and checked in. Both of us in the party were at the check in desk to complete our check in and get our key. The man behind the desk showed me the computer screen and that I had made the hotel reservation for 1 adult. I said yes, I know it says one adults, but it was for 2 queen beds so no problem. He said he would not change the price, but next time to make sure I put down 2 adults if there are 2 adult staying in the room. He said it normally is an extra charge for two adults. I said that is great, but I used my wyndham points during booking and the room was same price whether I selected 1 adult or 2 adults. He said believe me buddy, I have been in hotel business a long time and I know how it works. I checked on the wyndham app, as I was standing in the lobby, and when using wyndham points, the price of the room came up the same for 1 and 2 adults. I did not continue to argue with him and completed my check in. The room overall itself was a fine room. The hotel itself, for being a non-smoking facility, smelled like smoke and curry powder. It smelled like this all over the hotel. The other issue I had was using the ice machine. I was filling up the bucket and it was very loud and sounded like it was going to exploded each time ice came out of it. Overall, I think the hotel is fine for a night or two stay as far as the room goes. However, I think the gentleman behind the counter, needs to be a bit more friendly. He should be happy someone has selected to stay at his hotel. He should not be trying to upcharge customers and be aware of how the online reservation system works before trying to up charge his customer. Beware if you stay at this hotel and they find out you have more people than the number on the reservation as they may try to charge you more. read more

Way over priced. The lady that walked in behind me said she had just been robbed so she did not have an ID, but she had the exact amount of cash with change ready. She had some random guy drive her who demanded a "washroom" 3 times loudly while The barely understandable concierge explained to him that they had to check in first. He definitely got a tude with me when I asked if this will go to my Wyndham points, which is the only reason I stayed here.I don't ask for much in life, but if I pay $80 for a motel room, I expect a refrigerator. They wouldn't even let me use there's. Only if it was for medicine. I consider pasta to be a medicine. The ac was broke in that when I turned it on it made the loudest noise I was sure creepy front attendent guy would come knocking, so I had to just use fan and sweat. Let's take a shower because I'm sweaty: oh look , there's 7 dead cockroaches in the light fixture in the bathroom. Guess I'll just go to sleep with my two flatter than [insert bulimic celebrity name here] pillows. Maybe I will play on the Internet to distract myself from how hot I am. There were bugs everywhere! I found numerous spiders around the room and an earwig on my pillow. The room was damp and smelled like mold. The bed sheets and pillowcases were stained. The man working at the desk was extremely rude. Everyone says you get what you pay for when staying here... Not true! No one should ever stay in these conditions. read more
