    Mold!

Man this place is the worst! Mold mold mold! See pictures! You would be better off sleeping in your car! There really is no redeeming qualities at this business. Old worn dated! Just a few of the adjectives to use! From the get go it is the worst! Don't forget waiting in line for the one old worn out toaster to hopefully toast your bread! Come on you can buy a good toaster for $20! Really stay any place else.....

I read the reviews on Yelp but we had to stay here because every other hotel in town was booked. Let me tell you, I was afraid, very afraid. But it wasn't a horror show, it wasn't great, but no excrement on the toilet or carpet that was black with dirt, or dirty sheets, or exceptionally rude staff or double charges. The room was "pretty clean", there was a good 2 weeks worth of dust on the tv cabinet and my friend found a hair in the bed, she wasn't looking for it, it just itched her arm and she found that it was a long blond hair. I only gave it 2 stars because the staff was poorly trained, she had a terrible time with the keys, ours and another guest that was present, and a few other things she did, but that still isn't why I'm only giving this 2 stars. Its the management. Every single issue that this hotel has boils down to very bad management. From the cleaning to the poorly trained staff. Hotel maids come and go, but what remains are hotel protocols and how long staff have to clean each room. If each room isnt allowed enough time to clean properly it won't get cleaned properly no matter the staff. Also training. The receptionist was very friendly, but obviously poorly trained which shows lazy management that doesn't take the time to train properly. These were the two issues that I witnessed at this hotel, but every review I've read on Yelp refers to a problem that is solved by management replacement.

Donuts and oatmeal and boiled eggs. The donuts were disgusting.

Disgusting upon arrival. If we didn't have a non-refundable room we would have immediately left. The stairs too our room were full of crumbs and caked on dirt. So nasty. The room had stains all over the chair, the shower curtain, and the carpet. The window literally had caked on smudges. The pool was full of mold in all the window sills. The best part was the pool was warm and the hot tub was at a steamy 102! But then coming down for breakfast was a joke... they have plain oatmeal and can't even provide sugar. And how hard is to provide even just some toast (bread is so cheap). Anyways we will never again stop there for the high price. Totally not worth it. We even booked 3rd party for a deal and it was still not worth it. Should be $80 a night for what is provided there. DONT DO IT!

This has got to be the nastiest hotel we've ever stayed in. We found food crumbs towards the end of our bed with our feet! Gross! Our tv remote and side table was sticky with who knows what! and we are pretty certain that someone got sick on the carpet near the bed recently as the smell was nearly unbearable. (The room is nasty anyway so it may just be how it smells) The room keys never work, we had to exchange them several times in 2 days. The pool area is questionable...it has a yellow colored film covering the top and the bottom of the pool has what looks like moss growing on it...not very inviting (I've attached a few photos) The sauna is hot but the jets don't work properly. But again, it's also nasty. You'd be better off just avoiding this place all together. The "Free Breakfast" is a joke. And forget about a nice hot coffee! The coffee is cold! It's a waste really...Overall bad experience. This place needs some serious updates and an entirely new (competent) staff.

My room with two queen beds.

Left that full as well. The charcuterie board app was great. But expensive. The other food was super mediocre. Just felt like it was middle of the line out of the freezer. Cute presentation. Very underwhelming. I can honestly say they're the most unenjoyable cocktails I've ever had. Our server acted like she couldn't care less if we were happy, or satisfied. She knew I sent the first drink back, saw the 2nd left full and didn't ask a single ? The whole experience was very lacking. Skip this place.

If you are anywhere near La Grande Oregon, you must stop there for dinner.

It definitely surprised me in a good way, the price is good for the room, mostly because this hotel is QUIET!! there's no highway next door, the parking lot wasn't full of drunks, there wasn't people opening and closing their doors loudly all night. Plus, dog friendly! The lawns around the hotel are primo according to my dog, they're not gross and the lawns are inviting for the dogs like with rocks and spikey plants like a lot of "dog friendly hotels" have, right next to a busy road. 4/5 as motels go, it is what it is, but it's clean The actual "dog friendliness" rating is 5/5

We had a "pet" room that had the original green-tiled bathroom (see picture). The place looks like it was built in the 50s, and there is some deferred maintenance, but it's the least-priced motel in La Grande. My wife and I were born in the 50s, so we remember road trips to places like this, fondly. If you are coming from the West, it is the first motel you'll see. The Rodeway across the street is closed for remodeling. All the features you expect are there: flat screen TV (with more free cable channels than I've ever seen in a motel/hotel room), refrigerator with freezer, microwave, coffee maker, heater, air conditioner, and closet space with real hangers. No hair dryer. There is an old-fashioned, 6-foot-wide "mow strip" between the street and the sidewalk on the long side of the motel that has three huge trees and lots of grass to walk your dog. If you look at pictures, especially on Google street view, you will see what appears to be a pool enclosure. The pool is still there, but it's filled with dirt. The parking lot is pretty big, so you could park a trailer, RV, or moving van in it easily. Be sure to walk over to Hought's 24 Flavors for some ice cream!

It was Old, inside and out. I'm fine with the green vintage bathroom tiles but everything seemed worn and tired. The toilet was a little wobbly and the shower head leaked and water shot up to the ceiling. I am sure the floors were clean but they were so worn that I felt better keeping shoes or socks on when I walked around. The room also smelled like burnt popcorn. I know that is a smell that is hard to get rid of so in the mornings while i was eating breakfast and it was still cooler out I kept the door open. I don't know if the owners were "so friendly" as other reviews stated but they were not rude. I think they were just tired and overwhelmed. From what I could tell only maybe 4 rooms at the motel were rentable as they were working to update the others. I feel with the number of guests they can have per night and the price they can charge for the quality of the rooms they provide it may take them awhile to get the place up to making a profit. Probably none of my business but I wish them well.

Speaking of, the room I was given was basically in the middle of the Burger King drive through, with a window AC unit that offered me the auditory pleasure of accidental eavesdropping of every order placed. Next to a college... All night long... I don't care about the view, I just wanted to sleep, but it was too much to ask. The traffic & noise of a fast food drive thru 7 feet from your pillow is anything but comfortable or relaxing, especially when you're just trying to get some sleep, which you're unlikely to be successful at, and if you are, you'll only be half-dreaming "do you want fries with that?" all night. Also, not to complain too much, but there was an ant crawling across my pillow when I arrived. It makes every itch suspect. Every itch. Additionally, the mini fridge (??) or pipes in the wall (??) god only knows what, shook and rattled loudly like an earthquake was upon us once every half hour or so. So if Burger King is slow, and you do manage to drift off, not to worry my friend, it won't last long. I seriously wish I'd just pulled into a rest stop and slept in my car. Pass on this place....no really. Really, really.
