This is a clean property. The staff was friendly and helpful. It was a welcome experience. Nice pool facility also.

Clean and average. The beds are super hard. I felt at 89$ it was a bit pricey for what we received in return.

Good value. The bed was comfy but the pillows left something to be desired.

The Landing Hotel & Dining - Very spendy charcuterie board

Their drinks were not to my liking. I couldn't even take 2 sips. Sent first drink back (which I…read moredon't think they took off the tab even though it was NOT CONSUMED) . I said I can't drink it and opted for a margarita. Have no idea how u can screw up a margarita but it was not drinkable either. No sweetness. Just unlike any other I've ever had. Left that full as well. The charcuterie board app was great. But expensive. The other food was super mediocre. Just felt like it was middle of the line out of the freezer. Cute presentation. Very underwhelming. I can honestly say they're the most unenjoyable cocktails I've ever had. Our server acted like she couldn't care less if we were happy, or satisfied. She knew I sent the first drink back, saw the 2nd left full and didn't ask a single ? The whole experience was very lacking. Skip this place.

We ate at The Laurel, the restaurant of the Landing Hotel, on January 17. Nice decor, small number…read moreof tables consistent with the small hotel. Well done menu, small but enticing. Server was excellent, very accommodating and considerate. They specialize in craft cocktails also. I had a Wallowa Riff, a tuned up Manhattan. Best Manhattan I have ever had. We had bacon wrapped dates, steak bites, risotto and for dessert a goat cheese cheesecake. Steak cooked perfectly, as was the broccolini. I cannot say enough good things about this place. If you are anywhere near La Grande Oregon, you must stop there for dinner.

Noticed they had put a ton of dryer sheets under the mattress when I checked for bed bugs. The mattress appeared to have stains on it as well, though the sheets were 'clean'. Woke up and noticed my dog 'hunting' something on the ground, figured it was a spider but when I got a closer look it was a cockroach. I tuned over the furniture and found remnants of other cockroaches in a spider web and more food crumbs. Obviously they don't do a thorough job cleaning this hotel. If I could give it a lower rating I would. Save yourself the trouble and find a decent hotel.

No. Just no. There…read morewas absolutely no parking anywhere on site. The Burger King next door posted all of their parking spots "for customers only." Speaking of, the room I was given was basically in the middle of the Burger King drive through, with a window AC unit that offered me the auditory pleasure of accidental eavesdropping of every order placed. Next to a college... All night long... I don't care about the view, I just wanted to sleep, but it was too much to ask. The traffic & noise of a fast food drive thru 7 feet from your pillow is anything but comfortable or relaxing, especially when you're just trying to get some sleep, which you're unlikely to be successful at, and if you are, you'll only be half-dreaming "do you want fries with that?" all night. Also, not to complain too much, but there was an ant crawling across my pillow when I arrived. It makes every itch suspect. Every itch. Additionally, the mini fridge (??) or pipes in the wall (??) god only knows what, shook and rattled loudly like an earthquake was upon us once every half hour or so. So if Burger King is slow, and you do manage to drift off, not to worry my friend, it won't last long. I seriously wish I'd just pulled into a rest stop and slept in my car. Pass on this place....no really. Really, really.

Greenwell Motel - Not a big room, but it has all the features. The big window is to the right in this picture.

Our only real complaint was the bed. Hard beyond extra firm. But, apparently not all the rooms…read morehave the same features. We had a "pet" room that had the original green-tiled bathroom (see picture). The place looks like it was built in the 50s, and there is some deferred maintenance, but it's the least-priced motel in La Grande. My wife and I were born in the 50s, so we remember road trips to places like this, fondly. If you are coming from the West, it is the first motel you'll see. The Rodeway across the street is closed for remodeling. All the features you expect are there: flat screen TV (with more free cable channels than I've ever seen in a motel/hotel room), refrigerator with freezer, microwave, coffee maker, heater, air conditioner, and closet space with real hangers. No hair dryer. There is an old-fashioned, 6-foot-wide "mow strip" between the street and the sidewalk on the long side of the motel that has three huge trees and lots of grass to walk your dog. If you look at pictures, especially on Google street view, you will see what appears to be a pool enclosure. The pool is still there, but it's filled with dirt. The parking lot is pretty big, so you could park a trailer, RV, or moving van in it easily. Be sure to walk over to Hought's 24 Flavors for some ice cream!

Very Affordable - you get what you pay for. I'm giving it 3…read morestars because the bed and pillows were comfy (or I was just exhausted from driving those mountain roads). It was Old, inside and out. I'm fine with the green vintage bathroom tiles but everything seemed worn and tired. The toilet was a little wobbly and the shower head leaked and water shot up to the ceiling. I am sure the floors were clean but they were so worn that I felt better keeping shoes or socks on when I walked around. The room also smelled like burnt popcorn. I know that is a smell that is hard to get rid of so in the mornings while i was eating breakfast and it was still cooler out I kept the door open. I don't know if the owners were "so friendly" as other reviews stated but they were not rude. I think they were just tired and overwhelmed. From what I could tell only maybe 4 rooms at the motel were rentable as they were working to update the others. I feel with the number of guests they can have per night and the price they can charge for the quality of the rooms they provide it may take them awhile to get the place up to making a profit. Probably none of my business but I wish them well.
