How convenient that this location is only a 3-minute drive from our church, so we make our stop here when we can after service. Store is fine. Customer service sucks. Checker VICKY is horrible. She needs a lesson on how to bag. Eggs do not go on the bottom. If you tell not to do this she rolls her eyes. The 12 item or less line can also be used when all other lines are full and she is empty. The store needs to teach checkers better. read more

Today the butcher department gets zero stars. I thought I'd try to get some very thin slices of meat cut. when I told the guy behind the counter what I wanted, he then looked at the other guy and told him what I wanted...that guy looked irritated then looked at me and said 'aren't there some in that case?' When I said no he let out a heavy sigh and came around to the front of the counter, irritated. I already told him what kind of dish I was making and told him what size. But He asked me again with irritation and visible disdain. He finally went back to cut it and he later came back with it. All this attitude for sliced meat? What the hell? Isn't that what the butcher department does? when I got up to the checkout i told them I didn't want that meat.I don't trust that rude guy touching my food. I will not get meat here. I don't expect anybody to talk to me, be overly friendly, overly helpful, or any of that when I go into a store. BUT, to be treated rudely that's a whole Other story! I've been a loyal shopper here since the day they opened, spring of 2020. I go here every morning before work for breakfast and beverages, and every afternoon for dinner supplies. Today while I was shopping for a few items, I accidentally put a small bottle of eyedrops in my sweater pocket. After I paid for my groceries, I took about 11 steps out of the door when I realized I forgot to pay for my eyedrops. I turned around and went back in the check-out line to pay. While I was in the middle of my transaction I was met by a man in torn up casual clothes claiming to be the head of security. He took me upstairs and pressured me into signing a document which, paraphrased, said that if I enter Super 1 within one year, I will be criminally trespassed, charged with petty theft ( max. 1 year jail-time in Idaho), and permanently barred from entering Super 1 for life. I am deeply offended as an upstanding, and well-known citizen of Newport and its surrounding communities. I believe I did the right thing by coming back inside and paying for the mistaken item. If you support the idea of good morals and doing the right thing in our small community, do not shop here. They play part in a system that does not care about its associates and are waiting to prey on you the second you make a mistake read more

NOTE: This was originally intended for the Oldtown location but it applies to several stores in any case. This is absolutely my go-to grocery store! If you are looking for daily good prices on your typical staples in general, they will deliver. I consider them the middle class of stores. Not super fancy and pricy as Fred Meyer and not cheap and questionable as Wal-Mart. (Ya, I said it.) Their sales are phenominal, strangely enough in fact, I get excited each week for their ad to see what's on sale next! You don't even have to wait for or find a printed ad, if you sign up for emails each week you get a link to view ads online either in text only format or viewing the actual sales pages. As a bonus, there is a super coupon for weekends just for subscribers. They are locally owned/managed so I LOVE that. In fact, they support many of our local producers as well, for example, Meyer and Woods meats, Laclede berries, raw cow milk (can't remember the farm name), and I'm sure several others. The employees always seem to be much more available/helpful. There are several locations for convenience, each a tad different but not so much you don't feel unfamiliar. In my opinion, A good store is one where you feel comfortable purchasing both meat and fruit and like the quality of both! They have loads of services people often overlook too such as: 5 gallon water filling, kombucha filling, growler filling, a fresh bread baking machine (Sandpoint), movie rentals, PO services, coin counter machines, lottery ticket machines, fuel (Oldtown), floral department, deli, dry ice sales, bait (?), and many other things I'm sure I'm forgetting. Although, I do not see a place where they list these on their website for each location so best to call ahead. Oddly enough, at this time anyhow, I really can't think of anything that stands out to be improved other than a more informative website...and that says something! EDIT: OK, OK, I did find a couple of small things. I wouldn't mention it if it were just a one time thing but these two things happened yesterday. This is for the OLDTOWN location. When you are purchasing fruit or produce, be sure to double check your receipt. Preferably, try to catch it as they ring up...but when you are by yourself unloading onto the belt and they are pretty much finished ringing up by the time you are done unloading, it's nearly impossible. Often I find that, especially when something organic is listed on sale, the register rings up full price. I almost overpaid $2 on strawberries. A small pittance for some, yes, but possibly that rare treat of a candy bar for others. The other is to watch your baggers. Don't be afraid to make a request as that may get them to think about it differently if they were not properly trained. It is much easier to haul bags that have a few canned food or plastic bottles in the bottom, then boxed items, then crushables on top than all of one kind in one bag. They always end up ripping. Especially 2 liter bottles of soda even when double bagged. Just ask for paper or bring your own cloth reuseable bags. Likewise, meat should be bagged separately or at the least in a separate bag within another, especially not with other produce. I try to load my items on the belt how bagging would make sense, like putting as many cold items together as possible and bag in paper. I found out they also no longer have icecream bags so just ask for paper. This may seem petty to some but when you live in the back woods and have to deal with sloppy trips into the house during inclement weather and dogs trying to scope out your purchases...good bagging helps! read more

Got together with some friends this weekend who were really hoping to find a good place to eat but with our current corona epidemic I was not interested in being in crowded places just yet. My friend told me about the deli in this place and how they had some great food so we grabbed up some and headed back to her house. Yummy bbq ribs, delicious and juicy fried chicken, Cole slaw, macaroni salad and my friends even grabbed some sushi. All of this food at a super amazing price and I even grabbed some cherries that were so delicious! I'd give this place 5 stars but this is only my first time there but the staff were super friendly and helpful. Looking forward to my next trip there for some yummy food and this great prices! Not sure whats up with this store but there are no signs asking people to wear a mask. So, i guess all those needing groceries who don't like wearing masks end up shopping here. 90% of the customers were maskless. I just came from Safeway and 90% of the customers there WERE wearing masks. So, if you want to shop with anti maskers Super 1 is your place. Like the mostly friendly staff in the Sandpoint location, but they ended breakfast in the deli this past summer '22. Also maybe due to staff shortages, but there is often pallets of goods, especially in the north end of the store that just sits there with dairy products that should be under refrigerated conditions ASAP so don't know if I should trust them. read more

Great Staff! We love Briana in the deli she is amazing, always has a smile on her face and she handles every situation with grace! I have never once shopped here and not found what I was looking for. Location is great they have a ton of parking and Steve the store manager is great he is always out on the floor helping his clerks or over in the deli helping out. The pharmacy does not protect the public, they do not wear masks. How can we trust them to make the right decisions about giving us correct medication when they are willing to cause harm by potentially spreading a disease during a pandemic? Ron McIntyre and management; What ever happened to Ron's Thrift way of doing business? Where the customer was important? Where you could ask questions, and actually get help without asking for it. Where if a grocery bagger would see an older person and would offer to unload their cart instead of the elderly person has to struggle to unload their cart or heaven forbid they interrupt the cashier and the bagger's conversation about what they did on the weekend. Whatever happened to engaging the customer and maybe asking them how they are doing or what they did on the weekend? It's so sad to see how the customer is no longer right and that the worker especially the younger ones think it is ok to be rude and make excuses for why they are allowed to be that way to the customers. Yes, we have shopped there for many many years and I can say that most of the time especially in the earlier years it has been good. I respect the McIntyre family immensely, but the actions of some of their employees certainly diminish that respect. Respect for the elderly and good customer service use to be the root of Super 1/ Ron's Thrift. There have actually only been a few times that I have walked out either bewildered such as when I asked a worker where the canned mushrooms were and they didn't know what a mushroom was or the times the cashiers don't know the difference between a cucumber and a zucchini. But the really rude and attacking workers I can not tolerate. There was one in the Deli years back that left me in tears and then after that, I wasn't able to get anything from the Deli when she was there because she would stand with another employee and point me out and talk about me. But now I haven't been able to get anything from the meat dept. One time I asked a lady that was going to get some meat for me why she didn't have any gloves on and I was rudely told that we don't need to wear gloves anymore. Really? I had been buying meat there longer than she had been alive. Say the least I have not bought any more meat unless it is from the young gentleman that has worked the meat dept. for years. He's a true gentleman. But now there is an older lady that I don't think works in the meat dept. all the time. I needed to ask a question about where something was and I rang the bell, waited, rang it again, waited, and then rang it again, I thought maybe they were in the back like usual. All of a sudden this same older lady that I had had words with in the past came barreling to the meat dept. speaking loudly, "It doesn't matter how many times you ring that bell or how long you hold it down if I'm in customer service upfront you are going to have to wait." Like we are supposed to know that no one is working the meat dept. She was still being rude and making excuses as to why she was not there. I told her I don't care I just want her to answer my question. I showed her the ad and read it to her out loud. She said we don't have that, whoever wrote the ad was wrong, and every time you come in here you attack me and you are an awful person. As far as I know, that was the second unpleasant experience I have had with her and it will be the last. My husband and I found what was in the ad on our own since I needed to walk away from her verbal abuse. As we were walking by to leave the meat dept. she was still spewing and mumbling at me. I walked up to her and told her that Ron McIntyre would be ashamed to have a worker do this. She responded to go ahead and tell him. So I am at least venting. I would like to hope that these issues would be addressed but actually, I don't have much hope of that anymore. I can say that I have been in Ron's Thrift / Super 1 at least a thousand times during the years and have never been called an awful person. I believe I am a good person and have supported Super 1 for years upon years. Please teach your workers' customer service. If the customer is going to spend at least $100 there don't they deserve to at least be asked how they are doing? Or have help with unloading their cart if they are elderly or disabled? went to the store in athol idaho, there cars machine wasn't working, so i went over and got cash out of atm, cost me two dollars more, then went to pay with said cash and the cashier said oh card machine is working i can't use the cash, tried paying with card and card machine stopped working again, so had to use cash, cost me two extra dollars and 20 minutes of time because of employee read more

When we first came to the area I thought to save money we would shop at Walmart but then I started going to Super 1 foods and realized there prices are just as good or sometimes better but the lines are short and the people are SUPER helpful. When I first started going there one time I had to wake my 2 year old up from a nap in the car and quickly run in to grab some meat before rushing off for an appointment..he started crying because he wanted to walk instead of ride the cart...but I had no time for this so I decided to quickly grab my meat and rush out to save the poor people in the store from my crying son. Instead of annoyed glances a lady came out from the meat department and asked if she could give my son a cheese stick. Immediately my son perked up and quieted down. From then on I was hooked on this store. They truly care about their guests. The other thing that truly impresses me is the Store Manager Steve! You rarely see a manager like him anymore. He will help with anything from greeting guests to bagging groceries....nothing is below him. I have over heard him checking on his new employees and asking how they are liking the job or offering help when someone is getting busy. He's not one of those bosses who sits at his desk and yells out orders...a true leader leads by example. I just hope he reads this and realizes his efforts to lead by example don't go unnoticed by his guests. read more
