My mom loves stand-up paddleboarding and took Katie's SUPFit class last year, so when she recommended it, I decided to try it out. I normally do Crossfit and I'm pretty comfortable on a board, but combining fitness activities with balancing on the board made me a bit nervous. In the end though, we ended up taking two classes with Katie, and I forced my husband to join us as well! Katie's class was really fantastic and although I don't even do yoga on land, I would even try her SUPYoga class. Katie first made sure everyone was comfortable on the board and then she took everyone on a relaxed paddle to the other end of the cove and back. On the way back, we clipped into buoys so that we were (more) stationary. The first test was burpees...on a board...floating in the water. Luckily jumping was optional, and you could modify as necessary to make sure you're comfortable. Katie then led us through some arm exercises with resistance bands before starting some yoga moves that got us stretching and working our legs a bit more. At the end, we could have opted to try a handstand (we did not but another woman in our group rocked it). We also went through some partner poses that were very challenging but lots of fun and made for some good photos! The worst thing that could happen is that you'd fall in the beautiful water (which I did several times in the second class trying the moves with my husband - apparently he and I aren't a good yoga team ). Katie made sure the second class was a little different from the first, which was nice to switch things up a bit. Overall, Katie did an awesome job explaining everything, including modifications and alternate exercises/poses to try, and she was incredibly personable and patient with everyone. I highly recommend her classes to anyone! read more
