Sunspel is an English brand that makes staple clothing items aimed at the British upper class. So expect high prices for extremely sedate basics. At Sunspel, the brightest color is ecru, and a single pair of briefs costs $50. Of course, this is L.A., where some people don't bat an eyelash at paying four or five times that much for les tighties, but if a $90 cotton undershirt is too much for you to swallow, Sunspel is not the store for you. It was not that much for the pair of elderly women in the store when I visited who would not let the lone sales associate have a moment to breathe, let alone tend to any other customers, in their quest to get another women's long-sleeved undershirt. The fact that this store only carried the men's line and only short-sleeved undershirts would not deter them, let alone force them to shop online. (They also complained about how the brand had not opened a store on the Westside. Oh, why won't you open a store on the Westside? Won't someone PLEASE think about the Westside?!) So I went completely ignored, as did another woman who entered after me -- and then left shortly after me. For a brand of Sunspel's supposed quality, and definitely for their price point, service was not up to par, even if it was not intentional, when two relentlessly zealous customers can take over a store in such a way. read more
