My space of joy in my life is being in class. I have moved from beginner to Intermediate-Advanced in 3 years, and am grateful for the chance to meet great people, and learn Spanish. Everyone in class expresses the same sentiment. We enjoy learning about one another, while learning how to listen well, and to express ourselves. Our storytelling is the best part of class-learning about one another's lives. I plan on doing this for the foreseeable future! read more

I have been taking classes with Jacek, Who is a very talented and amicable teacher. Over the course of six months I have improved my vocabulary and Comfort level , thanks to Jacek's persistence , patience and enthusiasm. I am so pleased with my experience at SunSpanish that I plan to continue to study here for the foreseeable future as I would like to become fluent enough to interact with Hispanic patients. In summary, I could not be happier and more grateful to share in this opportunity I have been taking classes for 3 years now. I continue to be thrilled. And even more grateful that Jacek had rolled all workshops and lessons into zoom sessions. I get full benefit and am progressing even during the pandemic. read more

I am so grateful to Sun Spanish and the teachers at the school for their patience, kindness and interest in my progress as I delve deeper into this totally absorbing language. My first aim was to talk with my employees and not sound like a complete idiot. My second aim was to speak with friends and I now have a third aim to explore written Spanish in the form of short stories and modern novels. It's been a fantastic journey which I would never have attempted without the help and encouragement of the staff at Sun Spanish. After reading articles and a novel, no matter how imperfectly, renouncing English and speaking in Spanish, no matter how imperfectly, I feel myself falling in love with the language. Who could ask for more. Thank you Sun Spanish. I am a very happy student. read more

Sun Spanish is comprised of friendly enjoyable small classes ( no more than 6 students) taught in a conversational base with grammar and structure added for understanding. I wanted to be able to speak from my own thoughts and have learned to be a more fluent speaker. I have been a student there for about 6 years and have moved from a beginner, through intermediate to advanced. Jacek the main teacher is supportive and non-critical of your effort, always encouraging! I have had two other teachers at times and they were both excellent. You can also take private lessons if you want to advance faster or even a combination of the two which i have done. They even have classes for children as well as adults. I have enjoyed the social nature of the group lessons and highly recommend the school and the method. now with covid 19 Sum Spanish has group and private zoom classes that are almost as fun as being there. I take both and even traveled to Barcelona and Valencia last year and was able to chat with taxi drivers, ask for help at train station and get along just fine. I even surprised myself as our apartment hostess spoke no English at all. Without Sun Spanish we would have been sunk! Please come join us. read more

I have been taking Spanish at SunSpanish for several years and my Spanish has improved greatly during this time. I was so disappointed to have to stop going to classes in person in Marin, but they are offering online classes during the COVID-19 pandemic, and these classes are really fun! I have been able to go more times per week than previously, and I actually find that my fluency has improved. The classes are well-organized, with lots of friendly and informal chat and also structured exercises, and are useful for many levels of Spanish proficiency. Highly recommend! read more

I really love taking Spanish classes here. I find it an incredibly fast and efficient way to learn. The system they use is very empowering and also rewarding, as I find I pick up grammar and vocab very quickly. I moved from Marin County to the East Coast and continue to take classes online via Zoom. I find it just as effective as being in person, and it saves the time commuting. Highly recommend this place. read more

Classes at Sun Spanish are the absolute best way to learn the language. We learn by having conversations with each other and actually using the language. Jacek is a master teacher, as well as being a lot of fun. Each class is an hour and a half of laughter and learning. Alehandra is a delight, helpful and funny - a plaeasure to spend time with. The vibe is always patient and kind. It even works on ZOOM! I decided that I wanted to come out of this year of the plague being able to actually use a language other than my own. In these days of "lockdown", Sun Spanish has become a high point of my day. read more

I had so much fun in Spanish class today that I just has to write a review! What an opportunity to learn Spanish during this pandemic. Jacek and Alejandra make the classes so much fun. They are supportive and really committed to sharing the language and all of it's nuances and irregularities. Just do it...and pretty soon you will be speaking Spanish. Jacek, the owner, prides himself on teaching students to actually converse not just learn more grammar. It is a ton of fun and on some days my brain explodes. Bit by bit! read more

I thought I might take classes for 6 months tops. Two years + later l have no intention of leaving. They have wonderful conversational classes for every level, with a mix of the grammar and tenses. This is not a "drill" style set up, as in most school settings. This program has great detail to conversation (which is what we're after). In conversation they utilize verb tenses and grammar so you fully understand how to utilize what you've learned. Private lessons are detailed and flexible based on your needs and schedule. Is your schedule to hectic, don't worry they can accommodate you via Skype. Come to learn Spanish, and you'll stay because of the wonderful staff and your ability to habla en español con fluidez. read more

Great way to learn Spanish! I have have wanted to learn how to speak Spanish for years. I started with a couple of apps (Duolingo, etc) but quickly realized that was not going to be enough. So I looked at a few different options: traditional classes (CoM), books/audio, and private lessons. All of them have pros/cons. I read reviews (thanks Yelpers!) of SunSpanish and decided to go to a free class to check it out. It has been great! The classes are conducted in small groups and are focused, almost entirely, on conversation. When I first began, I wasn't sure how mixing people with different levels of Spanish knowledge in a group class could possibly work. Surprisingly, it works very well. Maybe the best part is that it is fun. The teachers (Jacek and staff) are incredibly patient and good-natured as they help us stumble along. I can't stress enough how important highly-interactive conversation has been to my learning. As opposed to sitting in a class room listening to a teacher talk at me or listening to a recording and trying to repeat something back, conversation with other people gets my brain truly engaged and the speed at which I am learning is remarkable. read more

For the past thirty years, my wife and I have been traveling to Puerto Vallarta for two weeks every Spring. When we first arrive, my Spanish is very rusty, having taken only one year of Spanish in high school, many years ago. But, at the end of our two weeks, my ability to speak Spanish is much improved. Of course, by the time we return to Puerto Vallarta one year later, I have to regain my atrophied Spanish language speaking abilities. These annual trips to Puerto Vallarta, and my commitment to become more fluent in Spanish, motivated me to enroll in a Spanish language course. My original degrees were in engineering, so I thought a more rigorous and structured approach to learning Spanish that focused on vocabulary and verbs/conjugations would be compatible with my learning style. After attending six months of these classes I discovered Sun Spanish and Jacek, as a result of a conversation with one of my fellow students. I decided to attend an introductory lesson that was offered free of charge. I liked Jacek and soon became comfortable with his teaching style, which was more conversational and far less structured. In fact, I have decided not to enroll in the structured Spanish class and continue my Spanish studies at Sun Spanish. I have no doubt that my ability to converse in Spanish will be vastly improved from my classes at Sun Spanish with Jacek and the other excellent instructors. I encourage anyone with a desire to learn Spanish, or improve their Spanish speaking skills, to strongly consider Sun Spanish. read more

Fantástico!! My daughter and I have been taking group classes with Jacek for a few months now, and we also took a few private classes, 2 on 1. I feel like we have learned so much already! There is so much to learn but conversation is key, and that's what the focus is in his class. It has really helped me to be more comfortable speaking Spanish, and I already have so much more confidence in what I am saying. His methods are very effective in actually learning to speak, not just memorizing words or conjugating verbs. The classes are fun and fly by! I will definitely keep coming to Jacek's class, and would recommend it to anyone wanting to improve their Spanish! read more

I am so happy that I found Sun Spanish! I have been planning a trip to Spain, and although I have studied Spanish in high school and college, and have traveled in Mexico, I really wanted to be able to understand and speak to people outside the crowded tourist places. The classes in which I am involved attract older people who are eager to learn and share in the new experience. I have been taking classes for nearly a year now and have gained confidence and insight into the culture, language and fun of the Spanish speaking world. Gracias to Jacek- an amazing mentor and teacher who makes classes fun and who makes the students feel like family. Alejandra, the young and lovely teacher is so patient and corrects me gently so that I remember how to speak correctly. Classes include conversation about daily events in our lives, plus a section on grammar and expressions, followed by reading aloud from a selection of books recommended for each level of class. There are also discussion groups that focus on current events and are open to all levels of understanding. The new Zoom classes are even more fun and engaging as we see each other in our homes. I recommend Sun Spanish to everyone who wants to learn social Spanish in order to keep our mental acuity and to understand the language and people. read more

This has been a most enjoyable learning experience. The focus of this school is for you to be able to speak spanish. As is pointed out to us at the start of our "spanish quest" most people that have studied spanish for about 3 to five years in college end up being able to read, but not speak .At first i did'nt believe this. But, on questioning past students the answers were almost unanimous. They could'nt speak to any useful degree.I could go on and on, but without the drudgery of a full college class i am now able to speak ,and understand spanish in many situations. Doctor appointments (with a spanish speaker),order food in restaurants,do airline tickets, carpenters, caretakers, and much more. When i traveled to Cancun and,the Panama Canal, i was able to converse and function with my spanish. Now to be honest, my spanish is not perfect, but is very serviceable. I am constantly amazed at how well i can function in spanish. When i bump into previous students we usually can speak to each other in spanish. But that is the focus of this school. Not to have you speaking perfect spanish(you can if you want to),but to be able to speak.I have been attending class for several years for 1&1/2 hour,1 day a week. This has been no hardship, but a lot of fun. I'm able to talk to a lot of latino workers. You will learn grammar and do some writing. I am proud to say that learning and using the subjunctive tense has not been a problem for me because i only need to follow about 3 firm rules rather then getting hung up with the subjunctive moods. Sorry to be so long but this course is like life. You get out of it what you put into it. However, the good news is that you can gain some useful speaking skill in spanish ,with some moderate effort. read more

I have been taking classes with Sun Spanish for about 3 months. I love the way Jacek, owner as well as instructor, engages our brains. The focus on conversation is so much more effective than traditional classroom style lessons. Language is not learned effectively through the one way rote book drills we had in school. It is no substitution for actually using the language. Sun Spanish's approach focuses on using Spanish in conversation to really learn it. I also like how you can make up any missed lessons and you can drop in workshops for even more practice. read more

I've been learning Spanish for a year now and can't say enough good things about Jacek and his skills as a teacher. The relaxed conversational approach combined with grammar and vocabulary is an amazing way to learn. I definitely feel I found the best school and way to learn the language. read more

Jacek has developed powerful insight into how language is learned and pioneered significant advancements in how to construct the course and teach. He works carefully with each student to lead them into thinking in Spanish while making the experience fun and invigorating. Probably the best learning environment I have enjoyed. I recommend it highly. read more

I have taken many, many beginning Spanish classes and, yet, I never felt very proficient. Jacek employs a totally different method of teaching than I've experienced before. I learned more in three months of his classes than I learned in years in previous classes. I now understand why certain words are used and sentences are constructed like they are. Jacek makes studying Spanish fun through his enthusiasm, patience, joviality and kindness. read more

Over the last 2 years, I have driven past the Sun Spanish offices while driving my daughter to her high school each morning. I was intrigued that a private business existed where I might be able to refresh my Spanish speaking abilities, long dormant from my own high school days. I have not been disappointed since I attended my first class there, about 2 weeks ago. I was welcomed immediately by my class-mates and our teacher, Alehandra. The classes are tailored to teach you from whatever point you may have left off: this includes whether you are a beginner, intermediate or more advanced level Spanish speaker. So far, the word that I would use to describe my experience is "fun"! The classes are interesting, supportive, and nicely paced. My hat goes off to Jacek, the business founder, for his excellent teaching system and for his wonderful teachers. As the weeks go by, I know that my skills will continue to improve. Thank you once again Sun Spanish! read more

Jacek is the best teacher. Just think: a group of like minded people who are learning how to speak conversational Spanish. Jack is patient, kind and uses lots of humor and unlike high school and college, there are no tests! I can learn at my own speed. I wished Spanish in high school was like this. Jack has a huge likability factor. He plans social events with feasts so we can get to know one another on a social basis. He's the best! read more

I have been a student at Sun Spanish for just about 1 year. Prior I had no experience with the exception of "kitchen Spanish" learned from trips to Mexico. My experience at Sun Spanish has been very rewarding, pleasant and fun. The sessions are casual and confidence builds with each lesson. The classes are small, and the instructors are first class and very dedicated and patient people. It is an enjoyable and fun way to learn a language. I heartily endorse it. read more

I love my SunSpanish classes! I love them for many reasons. First of all, before I say more, I am a beginner, so I speak to you as a relatively new learner. Our classes are simply fun. Jacek, our profesor extraordinaire, has us speaking day one. We do struggle at times, or rather, we beginners do, but in our struggle, we learn. (Si, es verdad.) Grammar plays into each lesson as it bubbles up naturally with our questions, our usage in conversations and, yes, our misusage in conversations. Along with time devoted to speaking, we also have readings (short novellas) and homework assignments. The method works seamlessly to create an atmosphere conducive to learning .... and to having fun. I will only add that the people I have met in my classes have been interesting, supportive and motivating. So.....if you are considering learning Spanish, look no further than SunSpanish. Van a estar felices. (You are going to be happy.) read more
