Highly recommend this Mariposa school. My daughter went in with minimal speech in both English and Spanish, after a year with Mariposa she was speaking fluently in both languages. She learned to count 1-20, the ABC's all within months of being there. Her progress was astounding. The teachers and director were so kind and dedicated to her learning. I feel very grateful for all their support and the education they provided for my daughter. My daughter flourished there. I was very happy with the outcome after only a year there and highly recommend this school. They touch on all the developmental areas for young children and really focus on each Childs needs to help their educational journey. Mariposa is an AMAZING Spanish-immersion pre-school. My son went there for 2 years, and absolutely loved it. I'm a native Spanish speaker and we're a bilingual family, so we were extraordinarily grateful to find a Spanish-immersion pre-school that *also* teaches initial academics. My son's Spanish vocabulary and pronunciation advanced significantly, even with Spanish speaking in the home. Patty and her team are loving and attentive, and truly care for each child. We feel so lucky to have had our daughter at Mariposa Preschool for the past two years. Patty and her team of teachers have created such a warm, engaging, and fun environment--not just for the kids but for the families too. Even on difficult mornings, our daughter lights up when we arrive and doesn't want to leave at the end of the day. That speaks volumes about the love, care, and joy that fills this school. In these two years, our daughter has learned so many practical life skills that have helped her grow in independence and confidence, and we feel she's more than ready for the transition to TK. The immersive Spanish program has also been incredible--she now speaks impressive Spanish. The physical space is always impressively clean and organized-and classrooms are very spacious. While I was initially concerned about the limited outdoor play areas, I came to realize there are several distinct play areas for different groups and they've really made the most of the space. Also, they're small humans and it's plenty of space for them to run around and have a great time! Patty and her teachers are so intentional in making every child feel special, whether it's through personalized birthday celebrations or the fun seasonal activities and family gatherings they organize. Beyond being a safe and nurturing place for our daughter to thrive, Mariposa has been a truly wonderful community for our family. If you are looking for a preschool for your child, then look no further. Patty and the teachers here and simply the best. Let me explain. It might be tempting to think of preschool as an extended daycare and in the case of Mariposa, a place where your child will learn Spanish. If you limited your thinking to just this, you would be missing out on the absolutely brilliant design of Patty's program. This school teaches kids real life lessons. This may sound hyperbolic seeing as the children are so young but the Mariposa crew teaches our children how to navigate life, be sensitive to the needs of others (while respecting their own needs!) and generally setting them up for success whatever the next step for your child will be. To give an example, our child graduated Mariposa and went to TK. Within the first month, our child was student of the month for demonstrating "being kind, inclusive, caring of others and looking for ways to make our community strong". I don't write this to brag (I do, of course, think our child is amazing) but more to say that I wish my wife and I could take all the credit for this. Indeed, it's because Mariposa laid a solid foundation for these skills that our child is demonstrating these ideals. Thank you Patty and team. My 4 year old granddaughter has spent the last year at Mariposa Bilingual School. As grandparents, my wife and I have found Mariposa the most welcoming and positive environment for kids and their families that we have ever experienced. We have experienced many preschool and day care environments with our own children, several grandchildren and as former preschool teachers ourselves. My granddaughter, whose mother speaks Spanish, has now proudly embraced Spanish. She only speaks Spanish now with her while turning around to speak in English to her older sister. I also love the values that Mariposa imparts on the children: teaching them to take care of the environment as they water the plants, eat healthy foods and care for one another. Kindness and joy are modeled by all of the teachers there and it rubs off on the children. My grandchild is always happy going to school. read more

My almost 5 year old daughter has been going to Mariposa since she turned 3. We originally enrolled her for the Spanish immersion as my husband is a native Spanish speaker and we wanted to encourage that formation. Her Spanish is strong and she feels really comfortable speaking and comprehending it. However, we've stayed because of the community created. The director and teachers make my daughter feel so loved and welcomed. She has grow in confidence, social skills, and independence and is always excited to go to school. They've been intentionally supporting her preparation for kindergarten from a social-emotional and education skills level in fun, age-appropriate ways, and when we did school tours that preparation has made her excited rather than scared for the change. The community of parents/guardians is also really lovely. We're going to miss Mariposa and would highly recommend it to any parent/caregiver! read more

Mariposa school has been an absolute blessing in every possible way. The owner is a highly skilled educator. We are both teachers and she is constantly teaching us new tools on how to support our daughter with writing, speaking Spanish and many other areas of growth. Patty is very meticulous in her hiring and training of her other teachers. Everyday our daughter and all of us are greeted and welcomed by the most loving and caring staff. When we arrive to pick her up, we see them working together on art projects that incorporate practicing Spanish at the same time or singing songs in Spanish and dancing around the room. The teachers and kids are so engaged and every student is called on throughout the activities. Our daughter and every kid presents several times throughout the year and in doing so they build confidence and skills for speaking in front of groups. Patty checks in with parents everyday at pickup time, giving updates on everything from academic and social developments to her diet and health. Prior to putting Gia in Mariposa our daughter never spoke Spanish at home, after 10 months at Mariposa she now speaks exclusively in Spanish with her mother and counts to 100 in Spanish. Most importantly, we feel that our daughter is in the most safe and caring possible environment. Our daughter is happy everyday when she is welcomed in by Patty and all of her teachers. We absolutely love this school and are sad to leave as our daughter moves on to Elementary School. read more

Our child has been at Mariposa for 1.5 years and his language, social and emotional development has been truly exceptional. He Spanish comprehension is excellent. All the teachers are caring and exactly the type of people you feel comfortable with leaving your child all day. He looks forward to school and we love the community of parents and kids. Our son was in Mariposa since Patti first opened her doors. He grew as a pre-schooler and was adequately prepared for his transition into kindergarten this school year and remains fluent in Spanish conversations. As a parent, I appreciated the huge effort made to assist with building better habits such as getting dressed, toileting habits, and eating better balanced meals. They truly care about these kids and consequently the children are happy and quickly adapt to their home away from home. I noticed a poor review a few weeks ago. Not sure if this is an authentic review as the reviewer does not give any reason WHY they had a poor experience, how long they were there, etc. Knowing this exceptional pre-school team, they would address concerns presented by a parent. read more

Mariposa is an incredible school and we feel so lucky to have found it. We live nearby and had considered and toured serval other schools in the area when we saw that Mariposa was going to be opening soon. We went on a tour and absolutely fell in love with the school and the staff. Patty (the owner) has over a decade of experience running a similar school in SF. She and her staff have created an amazing environment for our 18 month old daughter. She gets so excited when we drop her off each morning and doesn't want to leave when we come to pick her up. They truly care for our daughter as if she were their own and it really shows. She is learning so much, so quickly. She has so many cute little friends at school and we've become close with the other parents (which is definitely not true at all schools in my experience, I've got an older son as well). It's just an incredible community and I'm so happy we are part of it. One last thing, I was a bit on the fence originally bc of the size of the outdoor space. But after a few months I can honestly say it hasn't mattered one it. Patty has made the space absolutely adorable and she is planning to do the same with the side yard and a large area behind the school. The indoor area is also just lovely and so spacious. Our daughter started at Mariposa at 18 months old, right when the school opened. The school is clean, organized and they have a daily schedule including circle time, singing, practicing vocabulary, etc. I honestly could not be happier that our move to the North Bay coincided with Mariposa opening. Patti, Blanca and the staff care deeply about the kids and take pride in the school. Our daughter runs to play as soon as we drop her off, and when we pick her up - she'll come over and say hi - then run back to whatever she was doing.
